Re: Herophile Fantasy art

And this character is from an upcoming Burning Wheel game that I'm running. Paka's Nimbus Castillo, bastard son of House Castillo and brilliant mage. Actual Play thread has been started here, although it is more of an Actual Prep thread... as we are playing in two weeks for the first ep.

Re: Herophile Fantasy art

It's been months since I've even had the time to read the forums, and I see one of my favourite threads is back from the grave.

Here's one from me, then, made in Poser 5 and Vue 5.

Looks like she made short work of the orc, but can she handle the troll? Course she can...

Re: Herophile Fantasy art

Good luck with that. Six more days to go, and the last weekend upon you.

Are you going to post the novel when you've finished?

Why? Do you hate the Internet that much? :D

I'm kind of ambivalent about it; as many have pointed out, the purpose of disgorging fifty thousand words in a month is not so much to get a first draft of a novel, but to create the material from which a first draft might be made...

In other words, it would need a lot of work. (Where's the "that's somewhat of an understatement" smiley?)

We shall see, we shall see...

Wow, It's been a while since I've posted anything here. I've recently started posting my work on Deviantart, and overall I feel my most recent art classes have generated a marked improvement in some of my work, including me branching out into new mediums. (So I'm'a gonna show off!)

OK, since the thread has come back to life, here's one I did this evening.

cheers, Mark

Man, oh man.

It's been what, nearly a year since we both swapped renders?

I spent the last year trying to get as good as you.

You spent the last year getting better.

Bad Markdoc. Bad, bad, Markdoc.

You are so repped!

OK' date=' since the thread has come back to life, here's one I did this evening.[/quote']

Very nice colours and composition, but a couple of quibbles:

First, the bow: it needs to be bent more at full draw -- the one in the picture would have to spring back past the vertical to send the arrow any further than the archer's feet :)

Second, the grip: the hand looks more like the bow stave is pulling away from the palm rather than pushing into it. Maybe if the heel of the thumb were compressed and the fingers loosened it might look better? I don't know how flexible Poser is when it comes to micro-detailing like this though, so it may be more trouble than it's worth.

Still a nice pic though. You seem to be getting the hang of this Poser/Bryce thingummy :)
