WWYCD: Dumb, Da-Dumb, Dumb, Dumb...

Over the course of a week, there's been a marked increase in the number of "dumb criminal" incidents reported in Campaign City. Just this morning, a man armed with a .22 caliber target pistol attempted to rob a local gun shop, with the expected results. Last night, a disgruntled former employee of a Pizza Shack in your neighborhood tried to break into the joint after hours by crawling through a vent on the roof, and (you guessed it) got stuck. The previous afternoon, a man was arrested for bank robbery after the braintrust wrote the hold up note on the back of one of his own deposite slips. The list goes on, and while common criminal types aren't usually the sharpest knives in the drawer, the sheer number of these incidents in so short a time span is enough to raise some eyebrows. WWYCD?

Volt would pray that it continues and gets worse (better?). Seriously, he'd check into why. It could be a baddie trying to get heroes complacent, or testing out where he thinks heroes would not investigate. Or maybe it makes more baddies. If limited to baddies and does not make more, he would pray for more stupidity. Otherwise...

Olorin would start laughing and then investigate why. If just baddies are effected he'd laugh and let it go. - Unless the stupidity can hurt others than the baddies.

Black Tiger would be very suspicious and check it out. In any case, he would want to stop it on general principles. He dislikes any manipulations at all.

Futurian would act very much like Olorin, but might shut it down on general principles like Black Tiger would.

Riptide would make a geographical map of the incidents and figure out what at the center of the circle of maximum activity. Then watch it at a cautious distance. If that doesn't turn anything up, he'll go the long and slow right by questioning the subjects and seeing if they met someone new and ideally mysterious in the past week or so.

Darkfire: I told you my city wide ritual to drain the intelligence of criminals would work! Jade I'm surprised you thought the magic was to complex, just because there was a slim chance at lobotomizing half the city you didn't want to do it. how you ever became a mage I'll never know.

Ironhide: ask the resident telepath to check for some kind of brain Drain and enjoy the stupidity of criminals until its proven that they something other than naturally dumb.

John O'Malley II: would hope that dumb criminals equates to dumb cultists if so its time to hit the cult of the Dark Pharaoh. he'd investigate believing the recent 'dumbness' was mystical in nature.

Powerstar, having recently had a run-in with those wonderful

people at Mind, Inc., would immediately suspect their involve-

ment and begin looking into the situation.

Well, let's see...

Lab Rat would try to find out who was behind it, and if it was some guy who only planned to make it work on bad folks, maybe congratulate the guy for a good job at making the job easier for the cops. If it is some guy only testing it on the crooks, and then planning to use it on heroes, there will be a problem as Lab Rat will have to fight this villain.

Sonic Eagle would probaby get complacent until he starts noticing that the heroes are also getting affected by this. Then he might do something as it actually becomes a serious concern.

Kitsune would take great amusement in this.

Reinard the Fox would find this oddly familiar at first, but then he would investigate these happenings. Afterall, this is too much in too little time. He wouldn't be surprised if Lyle Lynx had something to do with this, given how cartoony such a scheme like this would be.

Vitus would be pleased that the people of Earth are finally living up to his opinion of them.

Zero would carefully have a poke around in their brains, looking for psychic brain-eating amoebas.

Luna Moth: Postpone all planned heists until this phenomenon is fully investigated and all plans have been gone over with a fine-tooth comb.

I would suggest hiring a 5 year old to aid in the plan making and combing over for errors a la Evil Overlord List

She keeps a copy of the Evil Overlord List on her computers along with the Phantom Thief's Code, and also has both posted on the wall above the desk in her heist room to remind her what to avoid. Also she tends to recruit some of the younger kids she occasionally baby-sits to assist in the plan making.

That tendency is how the Flying Kittens were able to blackmail Luna Moth into giving them flight lessons. Fortunately for them, their parents (a couple recurring villains) don't have any copies of the List.
