Cat Up a Tree

It's a particularly slow day for crime and disasters in Campaign City. The most urgent call in right now is from a little girl whose cat has gotten stuck up a tree. Your character is for whatever reason the only hero/mercenary/villain with scruples on call.

It's an ordinary house cat at the top of a twenty-foot tall oak tree (unless your campaign needs adjustments to fit, then make those) and is terrified--it will probably freak out and attack anyone who tries to grab it. As far as can be determined by your character's senses, the little girl is genuinely a normal little girl who loves her pet cat.

WWYCD? (Remember, details as appropriate.)

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Landslide:

Can bounce of bullets and regenerate arms, so the claws of small kitten don't frighten her. The problem is that she weights 400 Kilo and can't fly. So there is doubtfully any tree branch able to support her. So unless there is smowhere a ladder rated for her weight, she would have to call help.

Edit: She could rip out the tree and lay it down (carfully to not harm the kitten), but would not do it until it is really, really nessesary (say, the three burns).

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Can Opener is a robotic character with Stretching, Extra Limbs, and attachments designed to cut through anything.

So: Reach up and grip the branch the cat is on, to either side of the cat. Cut the branch from the tree. Lower the branch with cat to the ground.

Lucius Alexander

Feed it to a palindromedary

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Anthem acrobatically climbs the tree as if it were nothing and sweeps up the kitty. Should it avoid her and decide to jump (or fall) she'll lunge out, catch it, and tumble safely across the sidewalk. If it bites/scratches, she ignores such activities as it can't really hurt her.

Unlce Slam would not even be aware of the situation unless he were flying by, in which case he'd fly in and pick it up superman style and deliver it.

Shadow Hawk wouldn't get involved.

Goliath would uproot the tree to get the kitty down. Then cry if kitty got hurt.

Steel Panther has flight and armor, he'd recover the cat in a very straightforward matter.

El Mago would use his fine manipulation TK. And he'd do it with a flourish, because that's how he is.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Well, this seems to assume a superhero clubhouse and publicly available phone line to call them, neither of which happens in my campaign world. If Warhawk was walking by and not otherwise involved, he'd fly up and grab it. Silhouette would use TK. Pretty much everyone else would never even hear about it, and if they did, completely ignore the situation. The kid's parent can get the cat down, or a neighbor, or even the kid can do it. They've got more important things to do, and everyone knows the damn cat will be back up in the same tree tomorrow anyway.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Bingo the Clowno would reach up, extending his extendo-arms to grab the cat and bring it down. He would then proceed to struggle with the cat, roll about flailing helplessly as the cat refuses to remove its claws from his rubbery-hands. They would tumble around on the ground with a great deal of hissing ( from the cat ) and ouching ( from Bingo ), until the dust clears, Bingo is tied up in his own limbs, and the cat is cleaning its hind legs.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Volt and Olorin can both fly and have a force field, so they'd fly up and get it. Volt would be more heroic though. Why? He's allergic to cats! But he'd do it anyway, since that's what heroes do.

Black Tiger - either totally ignore it or tell others to do it themselves. Not exactly a nice person, even though a hero.

Leadman - heavy brick. He'd hold a ladder or comfort the girl. The Mr Incrdible route is not an option for him.

Futurian ' "Whoaaa! Cat in a tree and you want it down? Fragic!" He'd then build ... something high tech. It'd work. It'd also probably freak the cat out. And he would not understand that.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Bob Tiger (and many other flightless bricks besides) would just climb up the tree, gently restrain the cat, and climb down. Unless the cat's armed with a bazooka BT it will suffer no harm.

The Cat Without A Name would just climb up the tree, "sleep" the cat and carry it down by the scruff of its neck.

Lance O'Bannon, the Singing Cowboy would just lasso the cat down. Alternatively, he'd sing a song that would calm the cat and attract it to come down by itself.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Ack. As a GM, I thought I would at least see the most sensible solution. Take the little girl and strand her up in the tree with the cat. I have several supervillains while not mean, just not smart enough to think of another solution.

Re: Cat Up a Tree

Or they could just leave the cat in the tree like this guy did:

My cat was pretty good at climbing down trees. The only time he was really stuck was when the neighborhood chows chased him up one. He probably would have came down eventually. But, he was just too seriously freaked out to do so right away. So, instead of guarding the tree from any dogs until he calmed down, we had to get the ladder and get him. Luckily, he was trustful enough not to go crazy on my dad bringing him down(except for digging his claws into his chest but it was a grab rather than a scratching, so it wasnt too bad). We took him inside. His tail stayed puffed out for I dont know how long after that.
