Godzilla, King of the Monsters

Recommended Posts

I find it curious their isnt a location we can click for King Kong (I would guess the one in the middle of the pacific ocean). Also, although you can track Godzilla, their isnt a briefing on him I can see. And I really want to know what the others are, dammit.

I'm probably the only American bothered by this, but I absolutely hate the (typically lazy) Americanized pronunciation of "Ghidorah". It has the same effect on my ears as "mercy buckets" (merci beaucoup), or "sore on" (Sauron), or "moe soor uh" (Mosura). I'm sure it comes from Americans never having heard how these words/names should be pronounced and going with a purely phonetic guess. But it leads to truly awful mispronunciations. I wonder if the characters in the movie are going to say these names incorrectly as well.

As the director is a big fan of the genre, I'm reasonably certain he will have the monster's name pronounced correctly in the movie....if they even use the term King Ghidorah. They may just call him Monster Zero for all we know so far.

Pretty much. However, the romanji spelling of Ghidorah is very close its Japanese pronunciation, whereas Godzilla is more distant from Gojira, so I would expect the barriers to pronouncing Ghidorah properly to be much lower.

Ghidorah has been a villain in all the movies except one and in that he was a mechanized version that was created by time travelers to stop Godzilla.

no, there was a 2nd one where he was created when Mothra, Baragon and I believe Manda combine to battle Godzilla. They are the guardian monsters in

Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
