  1. Re: Automaton regeneration I have a cyborg character that I use to play that could heal 1/2 his body naturally (or via nanite regeneration) and the other half had to be repaired by the cybernetics/robotics specialist of the team. To simulate, I just gave him a complication for it. The amount of the complication should be proportional to the amount of damage you suspect the character to take. (If he's an NPC then this is no biggie ).
  2. Re: The Atlantis city-ship from Stargate:Atlantis -> vehicle or base? I'd build it as a base with movement powers. As mentioned, although it *can* move, it seldom really does. And I doubt the players (or the SG teams) would be able to use it effectively in combat. But, stranger things have happened.
  3. Re: Multiple Attack and DCV bonuses Not entirely true. I believe APG has "Defensive Attack" which only gives you a -2 to DCV when multiple attacking.
  4. Re: Shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: 5th Edition X-Wing Fighter
  5. Re: Shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: 5th Edition X-Wing Fighter Cool. Looking forward to it and any other starfighters you might get around to creating. Have you done a version of the Vipers from Battlestar?
  6. Re: Shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: 5th Edition X-Wing Fighter Ahh. Okay. That makes sense. As I was typing it I figured it might be to protect the odd R2 unit but thought there might be something else I was missing. Again, good job.
  7. Re: Shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: 5th Edition X-Wing Fighter Nicely done Shadowcat. I do have one question tho. Why did you build the Deflector Screen to protect carried items?
  8. Re: Killing Damage in 6e Or, i think more to the point, "Is what the player asking for so full of cheese you'll never get the smell of limburger out of your living room". In the cited example, it's obvious the brick player is trying to play the system and is metagaming for all they're worth . . . in which case, they deserve to get smacked down for it.
  9. Re: Killing Damage in 6e My answer may have already been touched on later in the thread but I thought I'd comment anyway . .. In our Heroic level games, we use a blanket x1 Body x2 (since the stun mod has been modified, before it was x3) Stun multiple for AoE attacks. Doing it that was seems to work out relatively well.
  10. I've built a battle computer based on the BattleTac system from Shadowrun. Currently, it adds +1 Combat Skill Level with range and while down the road it might add more types of skill levels, I was curious as to whether I'd need to buy them with "Usable by Others" in order for the computer's users to be able to take advantage of the additional levels.
  11. Re: Gladiators vs Werewolves That I didn't know, haven't been able to really find anything about the movie (honestly haven't looked). So I will give them a few points in their favor because at least one of them has fought (and obviously survived) werewolves before. But I still think the fight, inevitably goes to the werewolves. 'Course, this is starting to sound like a "Star Wars vs Star Trek" thread . . .
  12. Re: Gladiators vs Werewolves Right and the werewolf(ves) themselves couldn't possibly be trained and naturally well armed themselves. The lumbering behemoth comment could be said for some but since you're using one set of mythos for your argument, I'll use the other. You might find one or two that are lumbering but the rest are just as agile, if not more so, than their human counterparts and I doubt they would wear themselves out fruitless trying to swipe at said gladiator.
  13. Re: Gladiators vs Werewolves Gladiators are cool but they've got nothing on something that has height, reach, strength, speed and ferocity on them. Even if you take away the "only hurt by silver" the werewolf would still win. Not saying that he'd walk away unscathed but he would be the one to walking away. But I will give you that the armor is . . well bad for something that shapeshifts . . . .
  14. Re: Xenomorphs vs Cobras That's cool Rex. Whenever you manage to remember it and get around to it.
  15. Re: Xenomorphs vs Cobras If you do, would you mind posting a copy?
  16. Re: Xenomorphs vs Cobras That depends on the blood. I seem to recall that one of the xenomorphs is hit by one of the pulse rifles and then proceeds to explode. Spraying acid blood all over. While I don't know much about the COBRA's and the wiki article I read was rather brief, what I think would happen is that the laser would hit the xenomorph, cauterize the wound but then superheat the fluid around the impact point and cause said 'morph to explode. Now, the COBRA isn't going to be near when that happens but it would still be something that they'd have to watch out for. Which begs a question: Is the implanted nano-comp, coupled with their enhanced reflexes, enough to let them dodge out of the way of the blood spatter?
  17. Re: Regeneration Costs Not exactly sure if things are broken or not but what I think you might not be factoring in is that a character can only recover what his Rec is in a month. The GM can pro-rate this to weeks if they so desired but if he does, you're still looking at an average character, with a Rec of 4, getting back 1 body a week. Where as, if you chose Regeneration, you can get back as many points as you pay for within that week, day, etc.
  18. Re: A somewhat minor question concerning armor/Resistant Protection Pretty much what GA said. When I build Powered Armor, I always (for the most part) build it with SCB, Immune to High Pressure/Vacuum, All Terrestrial Diseases/ Poisons, etc and it's pretty much assumed that it's now environmentally sealed and nothing can get in or out.
  19. Re: Hit location tables... What you might want to do is take a look at the Special Hit Location Table(pg 108 v2 of 6eth Ed) and use that. It gives things like "Head Shot" which is Head to Shoulders, etc. Also, some of the optional rules in the Ultimate Martial Artist even suggests using them for punches and the like. That way you can use the standard 3d6 locations for truly random things like spraying someone down with automatic fire etc.
  20. Re: Weapon Design Question I work (for now) in the semiconductor field and we use plasma (RF generated) to etch the patterns into the silicon. They use magnets to both control and contain the plasma generated. They also use helium to simultaneously cool the wafer down to keep it from melting. So, I would theorize that if you wanted to weaponize it you could use the same principle for the weapon. Have magnets to contain the plasma as well as directed down the barrel of the weapon and then use some type of coolant to keep said barrel (and generation chamber) cool. ::scratches head:: Not sure how you would actual launch, say a plasma bolt from said weapon though . . .
  21. Re: Urban Fantasy: Warnings Looks like someone else has read the Dark Hunter novels.
  22. Re: What are "vitals" That's pretty much the way we do it as well. "The Vitals" can be any vital internal organ but we usually refer to it as the groin mainly because we get such a large kick out of it. But it's pretty well known in our group that "the vitals" is just that. It could represent a shot to the kidneys, nicking the heart with your dagger, etc.
  23. Re: FTL vs. Lots of Megascale Movement Sorry for the thread Derail. I think that while you might be able to get the same effect speed/movement wise from lots of Megascale movement, FTL is a cleaner way of doing it. Might not be a cheaper way to do it but, IMO, I think it is a cleaner way of doing it.
  24. Re: FTL vs. Lots of Megascale Movement Yes. The cost is the same thing but they do slightly different things. I can buy 1 PD/ED Armor and get to add that to my 3 PD/ED to have 7 pnts of PD/ED to subtract from an attack. Or, I can buy 1 point of PD/ED Resistant and still only have 3 PD/ED to subtract from an attack. That's what I meant.
  25. Re: FTL vs. Lots of Megascale Movement Except that Damage Resistance doesn't add to your total defenses where as Force Field and Armor do. So there is a fundamental difference in the way the powers work. Could Force Field and Armor be the same thing? You betcha. But I don't think they could all be considered "variables" of Damage Resistance for the above reason that I mention.
