I'm sure virtually all of the complaints about the series stem from the writing, because on the whole, the cast were a group of very capable actors.

    I saw most of them.

I liked Tuvix, since it was different than the "let's get home" and "alien threat of the week" plots that the first few years relied on heavily. And because it explored an issue that I don't think had been touched on before in Trek.

My favorite line from Voyager comes from when someone introduces 7 of 9, and Chakotay chimes in "You don't want to meet the other 2."

There used to be a group of us that would dress is costume and go to the big nerdy movies together. We'd have dinner beforehand, play some trivia and other related games, and also have a costume contest.

When the Star Trek reboot came out, among the other entrants, there was an Orion dancing girl wearing full-body paint, and the jangly bikini!

My own costume was based on an old joke. I wore a sombrero and carried a baseball bat over each shoulder. I was...

Another guy had me beat on the comedy front, though.

He wore doctor's scrubs and a stethoscope, and also a big flat hat with dreadlocks. He was...

As for the issue of replicator viability...considering how large the universe is, humanity can easily solve the "energy" part of the equation with sufficiently advanced technology. All we have to do is avoid NBC annihilation, accelerated climate change and asteroids bouncing out of bounds long enough to reach that level of development.

The essence of Roddenberry's vision wasn't explaining how society would eliminate poverty and bigotry; it was the optimism to believe that the human race would grow up enough to do it.

Without some friction, you don't have a show. We don't see the ninety-nine point ninety-nine percent of the time interspecies relations are functioning smoothly.

We would not. Bad as "Sub Rosa" was, I found "Justice" (where an alien race fails to execute Wesley Crusher for breaking a flower) and "Code of Honor" (where Tasha Yar was kidnapped in a Blaxploitation flick gone wrong) to be even worse. Frankly, much of the first season was pretty weak, and a lot of the episodes felt like recycled concepts from the original series. I feel like it was only in the third season that TNG began to find its own way.

    YMMV, naturally.

Voyager is definitely not in the class of TOS, TNG, or DS9, but they're are some good episodes IMO.  My favorite is Blink of an Eye that explores time passing differently on the surface of a planet than for the ship in orbit.  Voyager is able to observe the growth of an entire civilization over just a few days or weeks.  Usually, any of the episodes the feature the Doctor are ones that I enjoyed as well.

The episode Demon (4th season) was interesting, if not immediately compelling. The crew find a Class Y ("Demon-class") planet and explore. They discover strange life-forms that can imitate their appearance and attributes. In the end, Janeway allows these organisms to copy anyone on the crew that will agree to it. First contact successfully complete, and on to next week's episode.

Then there was the season 5 episode Course: Oblivion. Voyager is in more trouble than usual, which is saying something. Crew members are getting sick and the ship is malfunctioning, and both are getting worse. As Janeway & company search for answers, it is revealed that this isn't Voyager at all--it's the alien clones from Demon. They had decided to explore the universe themselves. As they realize that being away from their home planet is killing them, they turn around and try to make it back in time. They also try to create a time capsule to leave a record of their experiences in case they don't make it. Both efforts fail. The real Voyager arrives just after the nick of time, notes discovering some interesting material floating in space, and is on their way.

This callback to an episode more than a season earlier was one of Voyager's best stories.

To be quite frank, a lot of people simply want to kill the people who they find mildly inconvenient or annoying.  I wish I was joking.
