  1. Re: Nature + Fire = What? In my game, I have something called Death Magic (sometimes called Dragon's Fire), it has some aspects of Fire and when you are touched by it, it doesn't just burns not your flesh, but drinks the very essence and grows stronger from it. Some call it a poison, some call it an addiction, even the toughest of pyromancers don't play with Dragon's Fire lightly.
  2. Re: Describing Potions Potion of Water Breathing: This effervescent (fizzy) potion is dark blue, so much so that hiccups are almost guaranteed until underwater. It has a strange salty sweet taste with almost metallic aftertaste. The potion must remained sealed to gain the full effect. Sadly, most potions are improperly sealed and so the amount of time is not always dependable. Potion of Nothing: People who drink this strawberry flavored potion tend to dissociate and find it difficult to react (Drain 1D6 Characteristic points from INT, EGO, DEX, recover 5 points per hour). But it is nothing to get hung about.

  4. Re: Why horses? Before I get the brain bleach, I had to share this thought. "This, this is Arnold. He's far better than a horse in every way, and turns out, much cheaper. After four battles, he practically pays for himself." (Camera pans to show a guy riding on someone's shoulders and carrying a heavy backpack.) (Heavy accent) "Hello, I am Arnold." "Come on Arnold, lets go back to town. You're not tired are you?" "I could do this all day. And then I will set up camp and cook your dinner, while the others are still taking care of their horses."
  5. Re: Opinions: A 'Hero' Stealing Their Gear.....???? Does her initial act of theft (which was, in part, compelled on her by the artifacts...Think Witchblade, or perhaps the Rogue Angel series of novels) make her less of a hero? I'd say yes. Even though it is perfectly within genre to "find" a mystic item and be compelled to use said item. Who said life in a comic book was fair?
  6. Re: WWYCD Fantasy HERO Edition #1: The Princess Shell Game Holly1: "Why thank you, you're so.... " GAAACCK! Me: "Don't worry, she's not the real one." I kill ALL of them. After all, if you're going to make 12 monsters that look and act like Holly the Helpless, why not make 13?
  7. Re: Lewis Carrol Hero Snicker-snack!: 5D6 HKA, 0 END (112 Active Points); OAF (-1, The Original Vorpal Sword), Strength doesn't add to damage (-1/2), Total cost: 45 points Original concept by Lewis Carroll
  8. Re: Old races, new tricks. I had trolls that when they got really, really old... would walk into the forest and find a quiet place and wait for their joints to lock up. Eventually they would become indistinguishable from a tree. This is where treants came from. On the negative side, you really didn't want to mess with a treant since it was a slow moving, 30 foot troll. On the positive side, being incredible old and sound sleepers, treants rarely awoken unless the entire forest was under some serious danger.
  9. Re: Top Signs You Need to Rethink Your Playing Style.... When the rest of the party might as well be your high-level hirelings. Seriously, the player of an assassin/swashbuckler told the mage, the cleric, and the assassin what to do, since his CHARACTER knew more about magic, the divine and assassination then the rest of the party combined.
  10. Re: Fantasy Cosmologies I have a dark "moon" in my game called Capricious, named after its erratic movement (it's actually a planet). It can only be spotted with magic (it gives off a detectable amount of heat to those who see into infrared, but no visible light). There's a theory that it somehow influences the magic of the world.
  11. Re: Catgirls (and Catboys) for Fantasy In my campaign, catgirls/catboys are second-class citizens. They are basically treated as if they are smart pets that can talk. Catgirls/catboys aren't born, but are summoned, and when they are done they return to whence they came. Think Pink from Dragon Pink as a summoned creature.
  12. Re: The Thread Of Stuff I have tons of Stuff.
  13. Re: Songs that inspire(d) you to make a Champions Character "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi (Was a maggot-ridden skeleton on the left side, immortally beautiful on the right side. An elf exposed to Death Magics.) "She's Come Undone" by The Guess Who (A half-human effit that would take damage from using her powers without restraint and an Enraged that triggered by seeing the heroes and believing that they killed her mom.) "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" by The Beatles (A magically possessed and evil silver hammer hears the song and decides to re-enact the song. It possesses a poor cop and he goes on a killing rampage. It taunts the players that it will kill Joan next and the players learn that there are four possible victims. A co-worker, a recovering drug addict, and two relatives...) "Kryptonite" by Three Doors Down "Knock On Wood" by Mighty Mighty BossTones (Guy with no-range telekinesis, flight and uncontrolled empathic powers. Runs himself ragged as he keeps sensing people needing his help. Believes his powers are gravitic rather than psychic in nature.)
  14. Re: Would you allow? Usually Knockback Resistance with the Always On limitation is how our group buys Extra Mass. The Always On limitation in this case means that you are always as heavy as the extra KB resistance implies. Although, nowadays, you take the physical limitation to represent that you are heavier instead of always on. Clinging looks like the wrong build, if it is truly low center of mass, then KB resistance is the way to go, you can even put a limitation that the character still takes the KB but remains standing. Also, if he takes an uppercut, the KB into the air would still remain the same since low center of mass does not keep him attached to the ground, but would (up to his limit of KB resistance) prevent him from becoming prone from being airborne. Anyway, my 2 cents.
  15. Re: What is Your Favorite Item? Honorable mention: tHe HEadpiEcE of FriNn http://www.yamara.com/yamaraclassic/index.php?date=2005-07-18 The short descriptions are just wonderful. Why do you want it? a) It wants us to rescue it. It is shiny and will enhance our nest. c) Frinn will make more if it is absent too long. Is it dangerous to handle? a) Not at all. It is an honor. c) Define dangerous. Will I get a saving throw? a) It only rarely adheres to flesh. Euclidean dice would not avail in any case. c) We will care for you tenderly in the event of a mishap. Although it gives the user some amount of power (flight, increased intelligence, spell resistance to common spells), it appears to gives dangerous delusions of demigodhood.
  16. Re: Drakine: There will be only one Actually, it is the Drakine that are responsible for all those cursed Girdles of Masculinity/Femininity. It's a desperate attempt to prevent the rapid decline of their race. It all makes sense now.
  17. Re: Normally Small character who can Grow I did it with Stretching. However, my character was only 3 feet tall, 88 lbs who could grow (stretch) to 9 feet tall (still 88 lbs). Since I didn't need the DCV or bonuses normally applied to shrinking, it only has a Physical Limitation: Normally 3 feet tall, weighs 88 lbs (+2 Knockback).
  18. Re: A Torch is a Torch? I'm tempted just to make it a Power called Light. Light starts out at 1 hex explosion. Each hex, it loses -2 PER until there is nothing left. This can be increased by +1/4 Advantage, Double Radius. Moonlight - Removes up to -2 of night penalties in one hex - 5 Points Candlelight - Fills a hex with bright light (no night penalties), next hex removes up to -2 of night penalties - 10 points Torch - Fills a megahex with bright light (no night penalties), then the next two hexes out removes -2 of night penalties - 12 points Campfire - Fills a 4" radius with bright light (no night penalties), then the next four hexes out removes -2 of night penalties - 15 points
  19. Re: Bandages and such This is just a number, but I'm thinking 2' per BODY for the first 7 BODY, x2 per BODY after 7. So a 10 BODY wound (or 10 1 BODY wounds), would be 112' feet, basically to wrap the entire body while a 5 BODY sucking chest wound would take 10' feet. Note this assumes a 10 BODY, multiply by 10 and divide by the maximum BODY of the victim. Because a 20 BODY barbarian needs half as much bandages ("Tis, but a flesh wound"). Advanced techniques might cut this in half, while a lousy roll might double it. Of course, it depends you need to evenly distribute the pressure (because you're going to walk on it) or just trying to keep it from being infected.
  20. Re: Minotaur Racial Package According to Wikipedia, The original Labyrinth was so elaborate that the creator could barely escape after it was built. To me, that suggests that while minotaurs can find their way easily in most mazes, dungeons, and the like, while the Labyrinth is specifically design to trap creatures and people inside (Darkness to Direction Sense?). The only known people to escape the Labyrinth followed a thread that the hero specifically marked his path with so he could follow it out.
  21. I was looking how the enhanced senses were written up in FRED and noticed that none of the write ups had Range. When I tried to say that they weren't exact, he got fairly frustrated that a new defined senses were cheaper than the corresponding new sense. So what happened to Range?
  22. We've all seen the endless collections of magic armors, magic weapons, boots of (verb)ing, and all sorts of containers of holding, hauling, and storing, etc. But around this time of year, special magic items are built. The type of magic items that just seem to go with the holidays. So drink some of that special eggnog and tell us what you've built or want built...
  23. Re: FRPG Ideas from D&D that ain't necessarily so Here's one that I remember about surrender. If you are told to surrender, you can demand for your right to be pummeled into unconsciousness with non-lethal subdual damage. Daffy (obviously beaten senseless): "Best two out of three?"
