  1. Apparently it was only captured by hobby astronomers, not by any of the scientific Telescopes. So getting a reliable value for brightness (and everything you derive from it) is difficulty to impossible.
  2. In many situations the GM will make the roll (or at least the counter roll) hidden, so you do not even know if you succeeded. This same property is shared by Conversation and Persuasion. Unless the GM wants you do know if you succeeded or failed, you do not know if you did. Wich skill you use to get the information does not mater.
  3. Bossfights are a tool, nothing more nothing less. There are no bad tools in the toolkit. Only missapplication of the tools we have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGXIR2dlktc
  4. Or you could turn the contour map into a nice color spectrum instead, wich allows for way more detail then any contour map
  5. All of them, because he is still around in one form or another? "But only becuase Failure is the best teacher." - Episode 8
  6. Ah, a old man complaining about the new stuff. How cliche
  7. 10-100 Million years? There are species on our planet that are older then that!
  8. Interrogation also does not tell you if the target is lying. Wich is a much bigger concern for Interrogation, due to the "make something up so the other guy stops" phenomenon.
  9. Except for Comeliness and Striking appereance saying exactly the opposite. So much they had to mention "yes, this also works for being a scray dude".
  10. Because Conversation and Persuasion already cover the "Polite Company" part? I once did a breakdown using real-life iterrogation techniques. Including stuff like God-Cop/Bad-Cop. The end result was that kinda off Interrogation was only left to deal with outright Torture. Everything else was covered by other skills, assisting roles, complimentary rolls or bonuses.
  11. Well, X-Ray map in right colors tend to be outside of my visual spectrum, so I can understand why they do that
  12. I had to test to even rememberm, but I am a 5 or 6 myself. Nowadays a preferebly write in Block Capitals. At wich point the 5 is what I use. When I still used handwriting, the small x would sometimes end up using 6 instead, simply because my pen was down there from the previous letter.
  13. Looks like the Moon got hit During teh Lunar Eclypse:
  14. Multiple Attack is a combat maneuver, not a skill Normally usign Multiple Attacks is a Full Phase action*, meaning it costs your Half Phase* Action and Movement Action*. Rapid Attack makes Multiple Attacks only cost your Half Phase action, so you get to still take your Movement Action. It does not do anything else to Multiple Attack, just reduces it's action cost to allow your Movement action to be taken before the attack (as Attack actions usually end your Phase). *Close to every single modern RPG has such a distinction. You either get a Full Action. or a Half-Action + a Movement Action when you are up. I know it at least from Hero, D&D, Warhammer Fantasy, Shadowrun and OpenLegends.
  15. Oh, APG I 105 has 4 optional rule to use Luck. And a part on how it interacts with Heroic Action Points (if they are used). I had totally forgotten that. APG II in turn only has rules to apply Limitations/Advantages to luck
  16. With those rules there can be tradeoffs besides Pointcost of the power. If you save points by adding "Single use" (or was it Expandable?), those points could be invested into concealment, durability or the like. I only remembered those rules recently in a discussion over "Concealment and small arms". And it is quite easy to make concealment a major factor of the value of a Item. After all if you can not hide it, you can not smuggle that power anywhere.
  17. Again, then your issue is not with bossfights but a perceived abundance of bossfights. Everything can be over- and missused. I find it unsurprising. While De Jure Player Characters and average Villains can get powers like Damage Reduction or "Takes no STUN", De Facto they are often limited to specific NPC's. The OpenLegends maker simply adressed the core of the problem with bosses - that in a TTRPG the Action Economy get's in the way of a Epic fight. Looking at the D&D Dragons, I quickly noticed that they have a ton of abilities. Including a full set of magic. But from a pure DPS standpoint, using his full attack is usually the best option. If they had a few extra half phases instead of that humongous full phase action, I could actually get to use those abilities interestingly.
  18. Parents demanding you call. Now where have I read that one before? http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0015.html
  19. If you want Granularity in Foci, there are the Expanded Focus Rules from APG 2 115.
  20. I honestly did not even notice he mispelled it. I just read "G-rated" and "...POOL" and my brain made the connections.
  21. So your issue is not with the Term but the perceived Abundance of it? We can make them abundant with or without dedicated rules. It is just a lot easier to run and balance them with dedicated rules.
  22. According to the article I read, it manifests with the Generators rotating slower. Wich affects the frequency. Wich is what they measure to avoid problems. It should of course also have an effect on Wattage - X*58 < X*60. The danger was power supplies, transformers and the like going into "error, disconnect to aviod damage" mode. Wich may end up needing manual labor to undo. Until wich people have no power.
  23. "Birdnose help Grundy?" This is the second time in 2 days that I heard this specific phrase regarding this specific movie.
  24. Somebody once had an Idea for Supermans "Supersenses": Clairsentience. No Megascale or anything, just plain old Clairsentience.
  25. Is there an Skill Roll attached with Spellcasting? While Hero does not have a System for Critical Failures, it would be easy to invent one. and the Focus burning out would be a fitting result for a Critical Failure.
