  1. Loving Hero System Mobile!

Reporting an issue: Calculating damage for a Killing Attack using Hit Locations is not utilizing the BODY multiplier. In the attached screenshot, a 16 was rolled for KA damage with "Arms" as the hit location. The BODYx is "0.5", so total KA damage should be 8, but it is displaying 16.

You could build the drive cheaper on Active Points by lowering it to 6 or 7 meters and upping the Megascale multiplier. Unless that was a build choice?

Traveller Hero built their Jump Drives more like that.

Thanks, Steve.  This was a build choice for several reasons.  I deliberately wanted to make FTL travel rare and expensive.  At the tech level of the campaign, hyperdrives are new, bulky, and finicky.

Also, 62 trillion kilometers is the closest approximation to 2 parsecs that you can get using Megascale.  Any other combination of Teleportation range with Megascale will significantly undershoot or overshoot the 2-parsec limit.  Since we're using 2D Traveller starmaps (1 parsec per hex), this means I won't have to calculate fractional parsecs.

Edit: If I wanted to sacrifice a little accuracy and save Active Points, I could use the +4 1/4 10-trillion kilometer Megascale Advantage.  I might use this as Tech Level increases in the campaign.

  3. In my game, the hyperdrive is the main method of FTL travel.  It is a clone of the Traveller jump drive, with a maximum of Jump-2 (2 parsecs, taking 1 week).  Ships carry enough proton fuel for anywhere from 1 to 4 jumps before needing to refuel.  Paired with fuel scoops, ships can refuel from gas giants or oceans.

Hyperdrive: Teleportation 62m, MegaRange (1m = 1 trillion km; +4) (310 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Week, -4 1/2), OIF Immobile (-1 1/2), 4 Fuel Charges (Recovers Under Limited Circumstances; -1 1/4), Conditional Power (Power does not work in Common Circumstances) (Non-Functional In A Gravity Well; -1/2), Requires A Roll (Skill roll; Dimensional Navigation; -1/2) [Notes: Jump-2]

    Total Points: 33

Fuel Scoops/Purification Plant:  Minor Transform 4d6 (Liquid Hydrogen/Water into Proton Fuel) (20 Active Points); Extra Time (6 Hours, -3 1/2), OIF Immobile (-1 1/2), Requires 6 Hours Per Fuel Charge (-1/4)

    Total Points: 3

  4. I generally build weapons/armor as a "Compound Power" (6E1p119).  Compound Powers allow you to combine multiple powers which can be used simultaneously into a single item.  For an example, let's look at a simple scoped sniper rifle:

Power 1: Killing Attack - Ranged: 2D6 (common Limitations would be "Focus", "Real Weapon", and "Charges")

    Power 2: Targeting Scope - +1 OCV

An item should be built as a "Compound Power" if the powers can be used simultaneously (such as the sniper rifle with scope).  Total Active Points for a Compound power is the sum of each Power's individual Active Points.

An item should be built as a "Multipower" if you cannot use the powers simultaneously (such as a Blaster Pistol with a Kill setting and a Stun setting).  You get a Point discount for this.

For complex items "Compound Powers" can be placed inside of a "Multipower".  For example: A scoped blaster rifle:

Compound Power 1: 2D6 Killing Attack Ranged with +1 OCV

Compound Power 2: 8D6 Blast (Stun) with +1 OCV

    I hope this helps.

  5. Many years ago, my group was dedicated to AD&D and Traveller.  When I discovered the 4th Edition BBB, I saw the light and immediately converted our campaigns to the Hero System.  Some time later, the Traveller characters acquired an old, beat-up Gazelle Close Escort, the "Windfall Prophet".

Over several years of gaming and technological advances in my Traveller Universe, the characters made a number of upgrades and enhancements to their ship.  When shadowcat1313 and FFE released Traveller Hero, I picked up a copy and, using his Gazelle Close Escort as a template, was able to upgrade the characters' Gazelle to 6th Edition.  Attached is the current iteration of the ship.  Included deck plans were obtained from the Web.

The ship itself was based on shadowcat1313's Gazelle build.  I imported it into my own Hero Designer template which combines the features of a Vehicle with those of a Computer, without having to design both separately.

  6. I'm running a Fantasy Hero campaign set in the Hyborian Kingdoms, so I created a Hero Designer prefab with many different coins from several kingdoms with their relative values. It is easily adaptable to any fantasy setting, and can be downloaded here:

I based everything off the generic "silver piece" where 1SP = $1.00. Feel free to adjust values accordingly.

Any tools that covert cleanly to html to pdf. I not been able to find any at this time.

Your browser. Bring up your html character and select "Print". Instead of your printer(s), select Print to PDF.  Choose your output folder and you have a nice PDF version of your character.

  8. 6E1 92 states: "Two-Weapon Fighting is the ability to use the Combat Maneuver Multiple Attack (6E2 73) with greater skill and accuracy than normal when using two weapons (one in each hand)."

6E2 73 states: "Multiple Attack allows a character to:

    • make multiple strikes against a single target with a single attack
    • make multiple strikes against a single target with multiple forms of attack
    • make multiple strikes against multiple targets with a single attack
    • make multiple strikes against multiple targets with multiple forms of attack"

If you look at the bold highlighted conditions, does this mean the the second (offhand) weapon does not need to be used at all in a Multiple Attack?  That the primary weapon can be used in both attacks without incurring the initial -2 OCV penalty?

  9. Hero System Skills 6E, page 50 discusses the Talent "Universal Scholar":

"Universal Scholar costs 20 Character Points.
For that cost, the character has an INT Roll with
any Knowledge Skill of the “Average” category (see
the Knowledge Skill Category Table on page 210).
For every step up or down the table, he suffers a -2
penalty to his INT Roll to know a fact associated
with a KS of that category (for example, for a KS
pertaining to an Incredibly Broad category, he’d
make his INT Roll at -8; for a KS of an Unimagin-

ably Precise category, he’d make an INT Roll at
    -12)..."

The character/AI can improve their roll with Skill Levels and other modifiers (e.g., taking extra time, etc.).

I don't think I ever saw any forms in 6th ed for anything but characters.

5thR had multiple forms in the resource kit, but we never got that for 6th.

No manual Base sheets that I know of.  There is a Hero Designer export format for Bases posted here (Text export only):

  11. I've downloaded the update multiple times.  The datecode on the HD6.jar file is 23 October 2020, but the datecode on the HDDocs.pdf file is 15 February 2014 with the "Print to PDF" contents listed above.  Could it be an issue with the zipfile available in my "Manage Purchases" page?  Thanks again, Dan.

  12. In the Galactic Champions sourcebook, the Galactic Federation follows the Terran Empire. I'm curious if anyone has set their campaign during this time period. It seems like it would be ideal for a Lensman (Star*Guard) space opera campaign against Istvatha V’han.
