  1. Fox doesn't seem to me to take the lead in creating these inflammatory fictions, though. It just jumps on lines started by someone else, and promotes them to fire up their viewership and get views on TV and the Internet, on which basis they can charge more for advertising. As a whole they aren't interested in power, only profit. To employ the adversarial terminology that's cropping up on this thread, IMO Fox news are not the enemy, but they are willing collaborators out of self-interest. OTOH there are certain on-air individuals at Fox News who appear to be cultivating their own cult of personality and the influence that goes with it, potentially for future political careers.
  2. "Mystery of the Muons" sounds like a Doctor Who episode. I swear, physics is sounding more like Star Trek technobabble every day.
  3. Just as general advice to a 6E player, many of the fantasy-related books written by DOJ-Hero had the Turakian Age in mind as their default reference, and when that material was compiled and updated for 6E its applicability to TA also carried over. For example, TA often refers to character templates and other game elements provided in the 5E Fantasy Hero genre book, so if you have the 6E book you get their updated versions there. (I can't speak to Fantasy Hero Complete as I haven't seen that.) If you have the 6E Hero System Bestiary you've got practically all the creatures and races from the setting. If you can lay hands on the Hero System Grimoire for 6E, that gives you all the magic spells TA refers to. Any further elaborations on those elements in the setting book and its attendant volumes would be easy to translate to 6E.
  4. Could you define that question a bit sharper, please?
  5. I think of the Trump era as a little like the assassinations of the Kennedys and MLK in the 1960s. Both shattered some of the illusions Americans had held about themselves, but in the former case they also galvanized the forces for social change. Trump's legacy is distrust, fear and hatred, but I have hope that in the long term it will lead to a further breakdown of the divisions he exploited.
  6. [From "epelesker" on the Champions Online forums] It's happened, guys! Wanted to post the news officially that Thundrax is finally out of hospital and, per his update on FB about an hour or so ago, "adjusting to life at home". While I'm hoping he'll be able to post himself soon, I want to thank everyone again on his behalf for all the well-wishes and positive thoughts over the last few months.
  7. Honestly, that's been a concern of mine, which I expressed to the Powers That Be. The Champions International chapters I've read so far have seemed overpriced for their length and layout. FWIW I have it on good authority that Hero Games management consider these PDFs unfinished compared to the state they'll be in when they're collected into a single volume. Given that, as much as I'd like to read them all as they come out, I'll probably wait until the final book (which defeats the purpose of the sectional book concept).
  8. Not quite. Dervishes are conducting a sacred rite. GMs just think their games are a sacred rite.
  9. His most famous piece, which megaplayboy linked to above, actually got a significant boost a couple of years ago with the remake of the video game, Resident Evil 2. The character of "Mr. X" from that very successful game spawned a host of "X gon' give it to ya" memes. (In addition to NSFW language, the following has mild spoilers for the game, and mild violence. The game gets graphically violent, just not in this clip.)
  10. Shin Gojira is the most disturbing incarnation of the character to me. It's a true monster, a grotesque hideous abomination that never should have existed. And hence an appropriate vehicle for one of the picture's themes, the damage Man's carelessness inflicts on nature and how that comes back to bite us.
  11. I developed several concepts along those lines, but as Aarn is currently well in the lead in the poll, I probably should keep them to myself until Steve decides on a city.
  12. Anyone have an assessment of the usefulness of Urban Fantasy Hero in running this genre?
  13. I really wish Reaganomics had more recognition. Too many politicians keep trying to revive it.
  14. I quite concur. Steve Long wrote on more than one occasion that one shouldn't consider anything in DH to be "official" until it appears in a book. A few characters did eventually make that jump, such as Leviathan, Syzygy, and the Millennium City Eight.
  15. I was pretty impressed with the presence of the Millennium Godz, too. Godzilla 2000 is one of my favorites in the series, in no small part because it had IMO some of the more interesting human characters. While G in Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah... is the most evil-looking Godzilla I've ever seen.
  16. That's a very reasonable criterion, Opal, and a thorough list, Jhamin, although as you say, not complete. There are some things that would be judgement calls. DEMON still exists in name, but in its current form is nearly unrecognizable compared to its earlier incarnation. The Institute for Human Advancement has replaced Genocide, but it still uses Minuteman robots. Hornet isn't Stinger from Deathstroke, but his origin is practically identical. As steriaca points out, some of the classic characters, like Professor Muerte, several members of Deathstroke, the Fox of Crime, and Bora from old-school Eurostar, are part of the "past history" of the current official setting, but are officially dead or retired. That includes the only hero from the old days that I can think of, Starburst, who was a member of the Justice Squadron during the 1970s. As far as "books" go, that's true. However, https://www.herogames.com/store/product/350-digital-hero-44/ Updated for 5E continuity. (By, ahem! yours truly.)
