Thanks for the kind words of encouragement everyone. Today is the first chance I have had to be in front of a full size keyboard in over a week and it feels good!

I had a reoccurance of Melanoma cancer... this time in my brain. Probably a lucky break since the symptoms presented like a stroke. They've cut out the big/easy piece and have just done a hires/3d MRI of my brain stem so they can target with radiation next week. The next big hurdle is the results a PET scan of eveything else in a couple of weeks.

I am much better than just few days ago. The fine motor dexterity and strength of my right hand is the biggest issue right now. Typing this was good exercise.

I'm trying to convert d20 Vancian-style magic to Hero. I thought I had it pretty-well figured out. A wizard's spellbook is a Multipower with Delayed Effect as a common Advantage, and each spell is a slot in that pool. The DE limit is the size of the pool. (There's a discount if the character wants to memorize the same spell more than once.) Each spell takes a certain amount of Extra Time to prepare, based on the Active Point cost of the spell.

However, I get an unwanted effect when converting a spell with a Constant effect that would normally cost END (such as Light).  In those cases, Time Limit becomes an Advantage and the Active Cost skyrockets. I can work around this by creating the spell with 1 Continuing Charge, but I keep thinking that I'm overlooking a better way of doing it.

    The spell as currently written:
Light:  Sight Group Images, +4 to PER Rolls, Area Of Effect (16m Radius Explosion; +1/4) (27 Active Points); Extra Time (5 Minutes, -2), Only To Create Light (-1), 1 Continuing Charge lasting 6 Hours (-0)

(Delayed Effect is a Common Advantage of the Multipower, so it doesn't show up in the spell description.)

I don't see a problem with your build unless you need it to cost end.  At which point you build it with a -1/4 limitation Costs End to Activate.  You can also make the charge recoverable and set the recoverability as fairly simple.

Did you know Fire Axes are kept duller than wood axes because you use them to smash down doors more than cut through them?

Does anyone know if the Recoil Rules from Dark Champions are in addition to the normal auto-fire penalties when attacking a single target?

I think it would be awesome to break down and describe the play-by-play for one of the scenes from the movie.  I think the first part of the church scene is a good candidate.

    Any takers?

I played the heck out of 5er, been a fan for a long time. Revisiting the 6th edition and really liking what I'm seeing. I'm hoping to create some digital tools for the game, and some adventure frameworks for "pick up and play". First I need to immerse myself in the game again and start GMing it. Looking forward to more discussions with the fans!

Silly theories about the Soul Stone when it's so obvious:

Aretha Franklin has it, but she's distracted by an ongoing struggle for control with the soul of James Brown, which it contains. Brown will possess Aretha, momentarily creating an opening that Thanos will exploit to gain control of the stone.

With JW2 I find myself even more intrigued by the Criminal Organization that is centered around the Continental Hotels. With the Coins as currency for stuff done by criminals for other criminals.

I've gotten into the discussion of the economics of the Wickiverse elsewhere.  The big question mark is that we never see anyone earn coins--so far they've only been used as payment (and, once in the first movie, to buy a favor).  But yeah, contracts are paid out in $millions, while the Continental accepts only(?) the coins.  Otherwise, operating on its own currency would be useful to the Continental the way gift cards or Disney Dollars are--it helps keep your clientele locked in to your ecosystem, and it also insulates transactions from outside annoyances like taxes and financial tracking.  The exchange rate would seem to be around US$2000 per coin, give or take, as each buys approximately one weapon, half a suit, a weekend at the Continental, or an evening in the Continental lounge.

I sort of doubt if the writers actually thought it through to this extent in the first film, though.  It's really just a Rule Of Cool™ device.

Hi, my handle is Storyarama, and it came from a time where I was doing Storytelling as a hobby.

My first time playing was with AD&D 1st ed. I was actually headed to summer camp when I heard some of the kids on the bus talking about what spells they were taking, and I just had to find out what that meant. That was the week of summer camp that changed the whole direction of my life.

My first time GMing was a couple weeks later after camp, when I put together a dungeon and had a buddy run a party of characters through it. Apparently, giants and first level characters do not mix well. TPK. Oooops. Learned some important lessons though.

Currently running: Champions 5th ed., Fantasy Hero for 5th ed., AD&D 3.5

Currently playing: Champions 5th ed., AD&D 3.5, Star Wars D20
