  1. Re: Brain Eater Lad I'm not sure about you campaign limits but unless I am missing something for a 350 pt Hero his attack is only 7d6 and his defenses are low. Granted he has lots of Body and Stun but he doesn't do much else...sponge man?
  2. Re: Variable Telekinesis Hi David: I like simplicity so I would do this... 10 Str TK with no limitations. + 120 Str TK, Limitation - Additional Strength is based on the number of guys target has killed (see chart) (-1) Pick whatever limitation value you think is appropriate. Seems easy to me...
  3. Re: Appropriate Defenses Crosshair has it right. If you want to lower this here is what works at lower scales for me. So, in a typical 10d6/10DC game Martial Artists have around 15 DEF Blasters have around 20 DEF Bricks have around 25 DEF A good thing to consider is how much folks will take in a given attack. 10d6 does 35 on the average. That means 15 stun for the mid ranked. Sounds about right.
  4. Re: Stunt with Option to Buy Hi BeZurKur: Hate to get off topic BUT... Have you read Truth and Justice? Your stunt mechanic is something that is pretty fundamental in that system.
  5. Re: Worlds of Empire - Waddya think? Hi Lysando, I'm about 1/3 of the way through the book. I read books cover to cover and mark them up with a pencil as to how information can be used in my current campaign. Even though I am not running a campaign in Terran Empire I am finding the book suprisingly good. I actually didn't think it would be that useful but it has been nice. I have found quite a few tidbits that I plan to use and as I mentioned I am only 1/3 of the way through. I'll give you one example of something I liked. The home planet for the Fex is in the book. They are a meritocracy. The description of how the government run is in the book. In the back is information for the GM (hooks, etc). Right now if I had to grade it I would give it a "B".
  6. Re: Mental Defense, Always On I actually agree with Ghost Archer. The most I would give is +1/4. Boy Crosshair you have some interesting players...my gosh...buncha rules rapists...
  7. Re: Legal or No: Multiple SFX on power, sans Linked My first reaction when I read this post was simply..."what cheesy player came up with that?!?" After thinking about it I guess I'm fine with it. If a villain hit one of the effects only the small dice of effect would apply. At least I would make that ruling. I actually think the multi-NND attack is more questionable. Even if the special effect is good the attack would still be almost entirely useful. NND is all or nothing...not in this case. Wow...never ceases to amaze me what folks do with Hero...I love it.
  8. Re: Infinite Worlds I can post the campaign notes but Derek should give the okey dokey. He may also have a later version he wants to share. Hec...I could upload my PC or his notes from the first mission if folks are interested. I agree with Darren. It has been REALLY fun. We figured out what REALLY happened at Roswell...ok fine it was a parallel but still...then we went to a parallel that was infested with nanites. The nanite scenario was multipart and really engaging. It was fun because we couldn't discuss anything openly because the nanites were EVERYWHERE! We didn't even know if we could leave the dimension without dragging home a gaggle of the little fellers. We ended up finding getting home then deciding that we had to go back! On the return trip we found that an ancient alien god and goddess were present. He helped us stop them after his wife convinced us to wake him up. It was complicated.
  9. Re: Thanks from a GM GROUP HUG!!! Maybe I've watched too much Teletubbies with my 3 year old...
  10. Re: Self-Aware Ammo Hi Doc: As this is the Star Hero forum I figured a bullet would be a bit faster than a Heroic level PC. For a Champs game sure this is a standard trope. If the bullet was really slow... Anywho...one of the reasons I love Hero...bunch of ways to do stuff with slightly different connotations...
  11. Re: [GM Help Needed] Superhero Mystries I use a lot of the techniques that folks mention above but I have another one that I have also used if the players are solving a mystery too quickly. I usually come up with TWO possible culrits or a twist on the ending. This way if the players start to immediately jump on the solution I have something I can potentially use to extend the session. It has worked well for me but it is tricky if you have not planned it out well. For the other problem (ie players don't get clues) I often do what others have suggested above. Come up with more than one path to the next step of the puzzle. If you don't have to use the other paths...great...if you do then you are prepared. Good luck.
  12. Re: Self-Aware Ammo I agree. This is the way I have done it. A neat special effect is that you can shoot at a corner and get someone on the other side. Also dive for cover can make the bullet miss, etc. It works really well.
  13. Re: Summon Vehicle... If the vehicle is ala Ghost Rider he may also want to consider buying Flying and calling it a special effect of a motorcycle. I'm not sure what the player is trying to get...just a suggestion.
  14. Re: Sonic Screwdrivers I would go with something like the following in a MP... + Fine Manip TK with a limited range linked with bonuses to Security Systems and Lockpicking + RKA NND against machines only. Doesn't really have to be too much. + Flash against hearing That covers a lot of what it does... Pertwee's Doc used it a lot as well...
  15. Re: PRIMUS or UNTIL I use UNTIL. I don't use Primus at all. In fact UNTIL is a pretty important part of my latest Champions campaign. They are actually an antagonist for the PC! See my site and the Reliance Reforged area for details.
  16. Re: tactics as a power I like the combat skill levels or even overall levels that are useable by others. You could even make them RSR on Tactics. Neat idea.
  17. Re: Program Write-Ups Hi Labrat: This is a good question that should probably be added to the skills threads if you have not already done so. I agree that the book is not super clear in this regard. In my Star Hero game I have a PC that actually has a biological computer imbedded in his head. You can actually read about the details on the Star Aria part of my site. The PC is named Stooz. The link is in my notes. With this PC the issue came up a lot. My ruling in my campaign was the following. This has worked great for us. If the act does not normally require a skill then having the program alone is enough. There has to be a program AND a skill if the thing the program was attempting to do normally requires a skill for the PC to accomplish. To utilize a Talent OR Power a program must be present. For example, aiming a weapon does not take a skill so only a program is required. Plotting coordinates to another planet takes a program PLUS a skill. That could be Navigation (Space) or maybe a knowledge skill (i.e. AK: Terran Space). Applying the power Invisibility (i.e. Cloaking device) takes a program. This is not super clear...hopefully you get the idea...
  18. Re: Your Hero Web Page Hi Guyon: I do not have a links section per se but I am a member of the Circle of Heroes. We are always looking to add nice sites like yours. Here is a link where you can join: http://v.webring.com/hub?ring=circleofheroes
  19. Hi Folks: I saw this on the rpg.net board. I was hoping I could convince someone to answer this post with lost of details. I am too busy today. http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=257596 Thanks my fellow Hero guru!
  20. Re: solid light holograms You could also use summon. Just summon light creatures. This is ala the sound guy from Black Panther...for some reason I am blanking on his name right now.
  21. Re: Tuala Morn I know this is kinda off topic but... MAN...I am really looking forward to Tuala Morn.
  22. Re: How would you have handled this (GMs)? I think this response from Keith is great. Another I might do if there is a real issue is to end the session immediately. After folks calm down then ask the player the questions in the second paragraph above. As the team is UN sanctioned I would probably have a superior read them a riot act AND give a warning about using excessive force in the future. I would also consider making this leak to the press. It would be great for subplots and reactions from other villains.
  23. Re: U.N.T.I.L. Logo I did this already...here are the logos zipped up.
  24. Re: Frequency of Pushing powers My players are REALLY great about this...no issues. Often I run Heroic class adventures where I require an Ego roll. My players are so good at only using it when it is really important that I often apply bonuses to their Ego rolls.
  25. Re: Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have several in my writeup too. Get the PDF from the site in my sig.
