  1. Re: Traveller Hero, a major announcement Personally, I'm disposed towards "THERO" Just because it fits in so well with all of the other Traveller abbreviations (CT, MT, TNE, GT, T4, T5, T20)
  2. Re: Favorite general types of SF weapons *whistful, far-away smile...* Yeah... wasn't it great?
  3. Re: Favorite general types of SF weapons I prefer handgun style weapons, because I love a lot of old west in my Sci Fi. There is a side of me that will forever love the classic "Plasma Gun Man Portable" from Traveller.
  4. Re: *What would you like to see: Traveller for HERO I'd like to see the Traveller Chargen system adapted to HERO. Granted, I don't think it should routinely result in 40+ year old characters, but the history that it develops was a high point for me. Besides, they managed to do an acceptable adaptation for t20, THero should be even easier.
  5. Re: If You Had To Play a DC Character… Normally I'm all over Superman. He's a leader, an icon, and has an angle on heroism I prefer (Superman understands he's nigh-unstoppable, but must understand his limitations that he is only one person and cannot save everyone and everything everytime. He also must walk a fine line between helping humanity and seting himself up as a world-dictator.) If the campaign is heavily mystic-focused I'd rather play Captain Marvel for almost all of the same reasons I play Superman. Billy is more appropriate for mystic storylines than Clark is.
  6. Re: If You Had To Play a DC Character… Similar to the Marvel thread, it depends on campaign theme. Galactic, cosmos shaking events draw me towards Superman. Street level "Gotham City Rules" and I bring out the Creeper. If the campaign is heavily magic-themed, I want Captain Marvel.
  7. Re: If You Had To Play a Marvel Character… It depends on the campaign theme. If we're facing cosmic Galactic threats on a regular basis, I'd probably play Dr. Strange. If we're more mainstream (and defending New York day in and day out), I'd play Nova. If we were more of a street-level "Hell's Kitchen" level, I'd play Hawkeye. Finally, if we're playing a band of world-saving mutants, I'd be Juggernaut.
  8. Here's a sketch of an antagonist in my games, King Vadrigov. He's primarily a bully, and has had others do his fighting for years. Hence the near-useless sword, spurs, and of course codpiece. I still don't know what symbol I'll be using for his medallions, so he's not finished yet.
  9. Re: Tuala Morn I thought Steve mentioned that Tuala Morn was going to have 10 kingdoms that begin a struggle when their High King died without successor. That in and of itself lends to a very strong metaplot (and a lot of adventure).
  10. Re: More Bat-tyness It's revealed 24 issues later that Bruce only faked his death to draw out various villains who were in hiding from the Batman. In a 12 isue story arc "the Dirty Dozen" the publisher's make a mint on big flashy comics showing the Batman taking down the 12 kingpins of Gotham. Comic "fans" decry the stunt as a pure moneymaking scheme but proceed to buy multiple copies of each issue anyway.

    Hero 2300

Re: Hero 2300 The 2300 theme and mood are very similar to that presented in Alien Wars, especailly where the Kafer invasion are concerned. In fact, I steal a lot of my hard SF ideas from the 2300 line.
  12. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Juke-box HE-RO Got stars in his eyes! sing it with me! JUKE-BOX HE-RO He got one guitar! Campaigns start in a town without a name In a heavy downpour. Characters have got to stay on top!
  13. Almost the perfect storm of stop-sign and exclamation point powers eh? When a character buys a duplicate for to use in an EDM situation, like a psychic projecting into a "psychic dimension", a hacker in virtual space, or a wizard astrally projecting. How is NCM applied to the duplicate if the new dimension supports characteristics beyond the NCM limits? For example, say a Hacker who has a Speed 3 in the physical world wants his Virtual Self to have a Speed 6, does the duplicate need to spend 20 points for each point of Speed beyond 4?
  14. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it?
  15. Re: Anagram Map of London I'm partial to the "Flesh Studio" myself. Gotta remember that one!
  16. Re: DC's Best "Bricks" Can't help myself... 1. Superman. He's the original DC Brick. I remember a rationalization of all his secondary powers being based on strength. His sight is so strong that it can see through walls, his skin is so strong bullets bounce off, etc... 2. Captain Marvel. At times in his history, Cap was arguably stronger than Superman. As has been pointed out on these boards dozens of times. 3. Wonder Woman. I just wish they'd stop referring to her costume as "armor". 4. Supergirl Kara Zor-El. Not a hot lesbian.... err. I mean Superman's Cousin and in many cases, his literary Anima. 5. Bizzaro. Maybe it's just fallout from Derek Heimforth's Challenge of the Super Friends games, but somehow the imperfect, perfect clone of Superman holds a soft spot in my heart.
  17. Re: Best SuperHero Fights ever I'll pull out my perennial choice. Spidey vs Wolverine from Marvel Presents. Reminded me that Spiderman was strong enough to wreck busses. And that Adamantite was tough
  18. Re: Marvel's Best "Bricks" 1. Aunt Petunia's favorite Nephew. (I always liked how he constantly has an eye out for being "cured" because when all is said and done, Ben would rather not be a big orange rocky monster). 2. Hulk (Because Hulk strongest there is!) 3. Wonderman (He's such a powerful hero, yet still an underdog when compared to Thor.) 4. Thor (I say thee NAY!!!!!! 'nuff said) 5. She-Hulk (At times, the most well-adjusted superhero in the MU)
  19. Re: Your favorite Archetype examples in super hero comics The SuperPheemy Squad! Brick: Superman, Captain Marvel Energy Projector: Invisible Woman Gadgeteer: Mr. Fantastic, Batman Martial Artist: Captain America, Batman Mentalist: J'onn J'onnz Metamorph: J'onn J'onnz Mystic: Dr. Doom Powered Armor: Iron Man, Dr. Doom Weapons Master: Captain America Patriot: Captain America, Superman Speedster: The Flash
  20. Re: Superman's current STR: 365+? Depends on what story she's in. There are times in the Justice League that she's near, but definitely below Superman's strength (you may substitue any reference to Wonder Woman with Martian Manhunter as well). When she's slugging it out with Greek Gods, Titans, and Monsters, she's exhibiting phenomonal, God-Like Strength. Then again, if Superman's strength is defined at 100, I'd put WW at a high end of 85 (for Kingdom Come, or versions that act as Superman's anima).
  21. Re: Superman's current STR: 365+? I'd also immunize Wonder Woman, and in the 30th Century Mon-el.
  22. Re: WWYCD: Holocaust for the Holidays *grim* First things first. I normally trust my GMs with the directions of their campaign. Thus, if this storyline were to emerge in a 4-color silver age campaign I would start looking for the "angle". Chances are the family is still alive, the assassins are still alive, and the afflicted hero is being plagued by either an illusion-generator or a mentalist. Should the storyline emerge in a bronze-iron age campaign, well, psychiatric help is definitely needed for the traumatized hero. If we're in a "hunted heroes" game where super powered folks are persecuted and chased to the ends of the Earth by a paranoid and fascist world-government-state, it's time for a few super-powered acts of revolution!
  23. Re: What Super-game you like? I jump between Galactic Champions and Dark Champions TAS scaled games. My GC universe is very silver and 4 color (I don't like the idea of morally ambiguous characters who can pull small moons out of orbit). The DCTAS universe is Bronze to Iron depending on my mood. I use the games as contrasts to each other to help prevent burnout.
  24. Re: MetaCyber OK the G-Cat scares me. A four-round Revolver 3d6 RKA +2 STUN Mult??? That would drop a brontosaurus in it's tracks. Hell, I'd give it Distinctive Features (Biggest Frakking Gun you've ever seen) and a 2d6 Aid to PRE.
  25. Re: Greatest Western Movies of all Time First off, almost any film by John Ford, Sam Peckinpah, or Sergio Leone.
