Re: A pulp picture...the USS Manhattan As you might know the US Navy had two Airship Aircraft Carriers, the USS Akron and the USS Macon. They successfull launched and retreived Curtis Sparrowhawk Biplanes . Both the Akron and the Macon crashed soon after commission. Edited to correct a misspelling

That person compares the rise of the Feudal system to the rise of the American Mafia, Implying that feudalism is a protection racket caused by the breakdown of centeral government. Re: O.m.a.c. Wonder Woman Blinded herself to fight a gorgon (Medusa to be exact). And the for shadowing in the Green Lantern #4 with Spectre makes me think Ted Kord will be the next host. And the resent apperance of the Superman of Earth 1 in a story arc of Superman/Batman and the statement of Hecord Hammond at in GL:Rebirth #6 makes me think we are going to see a return of a pre-Crisis JLA/JSA in Infinate Crisis. As far as OMAC - Apperantly Superman leveled an OMAC unit designed for him.

And that was only because Darksied wanted to have a card up his sleave in dealing with Superman. (A second full power blast contained him in a seed form for later use.) Then you have Highfather's rarely used Alpha Bullets...

The Guardian's forced the djinn to repay there freedom by granting three 'wishes'. Kantuu was going to destroy her but she duplacated and ordered him to recreate his prison and then stated (because the nature of Kantuu's powers) that if one of herselves died the other would wish Kantuu out of existance. He chose re-imprisonment over suicide. I really needed a life in the 80's

Re: Traveller Psionics (long) A minor nit to pick, If my memory serves me correctly, the Imperium secretly kept two Institutes off the list of those being revoked. Those Psionic Insitutes are the Insitute at Core and Spinward March Institute. The reason that the Spinward March Institute was kept operational was to study the powers and society of the Zhodanti. The Core Institute, who knows Also the Psionic Suppression was an attempt at psychohistroy manipulation on a grand scale that actually went beyond what the Imperium intended. It actually hurt the Imperium more then it helped it. (This is from memory and can be wrong but It is like I had the matieral before me except I can not remember which books it came from.) Oh and Overall I enjoy seeing Traveller Hero come allong

I think it fits well with the over all theme of the thread and can give some food for thought. I believe that China would quickly be on top after a total economic collapse. In the United States, I Would see the Internet remaining up in rural areas because of wind farms and other alternet electrical generation but Interstate shipping in the US crawling to halt as the cost of petro products shoot through the roof. Major cities would have issues with food and power. Millitia groups would try to take over some of the least populated states, only to be suprised by the strong resistance by some of the population (Native Americans and the Harty folk who always lived out there would not like these outsiders telling them what to do.) Dr T.K. a reknown mathmatician and engineer at a large University secretly creates a self replecating nanomachines which destroys all refinded semiconductor materials. After much planing he releases these devices in multiple locations on earth. After only a few weeks the nanomachines destroy most of the semiconductors on earth and being that devices based on semiconductors are the only means to create the cure for them it leaves science without the means to stop the technology "infection" until another technology is found. These devices hide in the very bodies of the engineers and scientist that are trying to create semi conductors (as well as any one who has touched an infected elecronic device) making any attempt to rid the world of the devices nigh imposible.

Re: Did anyone ever write-up the DC Impact comic characters? To be really technical the !mpact characters where licensed from Archie comics. They where Archies' 1960's superhero line. That is why no don't see DC trying to bring them in to the main universe. They where hoping to do a new universe that would bring in new readership.

Re: Advice needed: Multi->One Character. Votron I can see being handled this way. But what if I wanted the Forever People and there ablity to become the Infinity Man? The effect is five humans becoming one being. (Of course in the comicbook it was a translocation with forever people going in to another reality and the Infinity Man replacing them.) Multiform tied to a duplicaion?

Re: Evolution of the races? I was looking at this thread earlier and what came to mind was a Canis lupus familiaris or the dog. We (humans) created many breeds of dogs through selective breeding of traits from Canis lupus (the wolf) starting a along time ago (100,000 years?) If an advance native or extraterrestrial group did both selective breeding and physiological manipulations in the distant past then all the classic races could all be Homo Sapien but have a much greater verity then found in humans today. There are hundred breeds of dogs with each breed showing about as much internal verity (in the breed) as the human species as a whole. The breeds of Homo Sapien would be keep from cross breeding by usually deeply seeded and planted morays. And to throw a real wrench into it you should have the "orc" race be the ferel original speice. Just some ramdon thougths on your request.

USGS Homepage And their online National MapThis should be enough to get you started (Oh here is the home site of the "National Map"). Also if you want a good Hard Copy atlas then Oxford Atlas of the World Should do but is very expensive.

This disagreement on heroism reminds me of a story in a recent incarnation of DC's New Gods where a cops are helped by Orion and afterward is confronted by a detective deriding him a showboat "hero". Orion was offended and said to the effect "I am no hero, Those men over there are a hero." Then he grew to monstorous propotions and state "I am no hero. I am a god" and walked away. Heros are defiined by sacrifice. And if powers exist then those who use then for the benefit of others instead self benefit are making a sacrafice.

Sheilds - Absorb damage from incoming attacks and particle not defected Deflector Fields - a energy beam that deflects particles as a velocity sheild (It produced from the dish/blue glowing area on the ships) Structual Reinforcement - showen more in NG but mentioned in Enterprise and implyed in TOS, Used to hold the ship together (by making matter more solid) Also note that in the SW, When the Millienum Falcon came into the rubble field it was mentioned by Han that it would require half the Fleet to reduce a planet to rubble IIRC.
