  3. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Check my EPIC CITY thread (link in sig) for many more (and much better) character pics!
  4. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? In Epic City we have CORONA He's a total Green Lantern wannabe who derives his powers from a alien techno-organic A.I. crystal entity embedded in his chest. He's even branched out and recruited new heroes to form an intergalactic policing force called THE CRYSTAL CORPS. The pic below is an old WIP that I never finished based on a Jim Lee sketch of Apolo.
  5. Re: Evil PCs Fantasy (though not Hero). In college (KU) we had a huge gaming group (KUGAR - KU Gamers & Roleplayers). It was divided into multiple campaigns all inhabiting a single world. Travel around the world meant your character was ushered to a new campaign (GM permitting) by a special interim GM (Global travel often came at a cost, those guys were harsh!)... Well, there was no limit on the GMs as to what kind of game they ran. Many were standard, some totally neutral and one was pure evil... And loads of fun. The only reason it worked was the result of a cabal of higher level characters (an Anti-Paladin, a Half-Demon and a few others) that had a tight (if not antagonistic) relationship with each other. Their might kept new players (usually of much lower level) in line. I actually ended up running a caravan that traveled throughout the world, crisscrossing other GM's territories (with their permission and/or corroboration) in search of the lost city of Tarthalion... Great days!!! Since then we've attempted a High Fantasy Hero game with a decisively evil tone. It was actually called NEMESIS: FANTASY (based on the space game called NEMESIS SQUADRON, which you can read about if you follow the link in my sig). Unfortunately, though many very cool characters were created, it never really got off the ground due to a disappearing GM.

  8. Re: Star Fleet Battles Starships You're not taking into account ECM, ECCM and Nimble Ships.
  9. Re: Star Fleet Battles Starships I always did quite well with ISC, especially against Hydrans.

    Djinn

Re: Djinn Here's a character called Djinn from my Epic City game (he's been around since 1989). DJINN - The Djinn Armor System is driven entirely by micro-pneumatic servo-compressors. The micro-pneumatic servo-compressors run off of an internal power supply that is coordinated by multiple redundant microprocessors. Carbon nanotubes woven throughout the system act as hyper-capacitors that allows power to flow seamlessly throughout the armor. In addition, the Djinn Armor's super-compressed atmosphere or "hard air" can be released in controlled bursts through multiple dilating apertures allowing flight and/or defensive concussions depending on internal pressure levels.

  13. Re: The Dragon Hunters (Steampunk) Couldn't resist posting a few more pics:
  14. Re: The Dragon Hunters (Steampunk) I love this!!! I wish I could play. We (my wife, 2 boys and I) hosted a Steampunk costume party for New Years Eve: "A Jules Vern New Years Eve". We didn't just call it a Steampunk party because, well, most of the folks involved wouldn't have known what we were talking about. I built a "working" time machine and my wife made awesome costumes!!! A few pics below.
  15. Re: Steampunk - Source Material Nice!
  16. Re: Villian Group You could go ancient evil with this. Let's use the Uncanny X-Men and their encounter with the N'Garai for example... Perhaps as they hustled through the BC tundra they stumbled upon an ancient stone tower (or a cave in an attempt to survive the harsh weather)... "Hey look!" "DON'T TOUCH THA..." "EEEKK!!! AAAHHHH!!! ZOINKS!!!" Stuff happens... They're each possessed by a different ancient evil... etc. etc. etc. Such a story could be used as a reason for their powers AND as a major building block in the continued growth of your HERO campaign. Here is more info on the story (fun stuff): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N'Garai http://www.comicvine.com/ngarai/65-57767/ http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix2/ngaraidemons.htm http://marvel.com/universe/N'Garai
  17. Re: SHADOW WOLF: Just cant get him right (please help) Looks like I'll just take this the VPP with predetermined/complete-animal-powers-slots route. Thanks everyone!
  18. Epic City (see my sig for more info) has a pretty healthy Native American presence. Currently their chief representative (pun not intended) is: He is an OC that has recently been adopted by a new player (new to Epic City and HERO as well). He already has a substantial list of powers and skills, but the new player would LOVE to add powers similar to Vixen or Animal Man (of DC fame); essentially the ability to choose a power set based upon specific animals with which he is familiar. So far I have these: Okwaho (Wolf Powers) 26 Canid Empathy Multipower, 40-point reserve, Canids Only (-1/2) 2u Eyes of the Wolf: Clairsentience (Sight, Hearing and Smell/Taste Group), Only through the eyes of Canids (-1). END: 4 1u Talking to the Dogs: 5d6 Telepathy (Animal Class of Minds), No Range (-1/2), Communication Only (-1/4), Incantations throughout (-1/2), Visible (-1/4), Canids Only (-1/2) END: 2 2u Alpha Override: Mind Control 6d6 (Animal Class of Minds), Limited class of minds: Canids (-1/2). END: 3 ------------------ 15 Nose of the Wolf: Tracking with Hearing Group and Normal Smell 7 +15 PRE; Only to cause fear (-1), Only when growling (-1/4) 5 Nightvision 13 Ultrasonic Perception (Hearing Group), Discriminatory, Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees) Akweks (Eagle Powers) 60 Winged Flight: Multipower, 90-point reserve; all Restrainable (-1/2) 6u 1) Flight 40", x8 Noncombat; Restrainable (-1/2), END 9 1u 2) Flight 3", Megascale (1" = 1 km; +1/4); Restrainable (-1/2), END 1 ------------------ 1 High Altitude Breathing: Life Support , Extended Breathing:High Altitude Air 2 High Altitude Adaptation: Life Support , Safe in Intense Cold 8 Sharp Eyes: Enhanced Perception (+4 to PER Rolls for Single Sense Group) 8 Sharp Ears: Enhanced Perception (+4 to PER Rolls for Single Sense Group) 42 Sense Air Currents: Detect:Air Currents And Objects Moving In The Air 13-, Discriminatory, Increased Arc of Perception (360-Degrees), Range, Sense, Telescopic (+20) Ohkwa:ri' (Bear Powers) ? STR Bonus + Toughness Ohskennon:ton (Dear Powers)? Running & Leaping Sinite (Beaver Powers) ? Swimming Kwa'yenha (Rabbit Powers) ? Enhanced Senses MY PROBLEM: Is there a better way to build this character??? Multiform is out since he doesn't change his form or loose/gain characteristics/skills or personality traits, he just switches to the powers of a new animal (losing access to any other animal-based power sets = 1 at a time). I've already considered a Variable Power Pool, but I'm not sure the player could handle it. In my dream world I'd sit each of these animal power sets into a larger Multipower as Ultra slots allowing the player so switch from one set to another without paying an arm and a leg for a whole bunch of powers that may often overlap (example = Rabbit and Deer may both give him increased movement in the form of running). Am I missing the forest for the tree here??? Can anyone give me a simple and inexpensive way to create this character? Thanks all.
  19. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I hate all video games.
  20. Re: Pirate Hero The closest we ever got was a Star Hero: Space Pirate game. The characters were awesome and the game had lots of potential, but it never had a chance to take off (pun intended). After only a few games various elements brought it to an end. I would second the Fantasy Hero approach to a classic pirate game. Pretty easy.
  21. Re: "Neat" Pictures I'll take the one in white.
  22. Re: HERO System Tips, Tricks, and Advice This is an important one, though I believe the temporary rule interpretation should lean in the player's direction until post-combat verification.
  23. Re: A Thread for Random Videos I first heard this "song" on Dr. Demento (I think) when I was a small child... I had nightmares for months!!!!!
