  1. Re: Would you like your character? I expected it all along. He's too physically fit and smart to explain his absences otherwise. All that "coming out" stuff was a waste of his time. I think that some of us in teh office have known about it for years, just never said anything. Honestly, he's 6' 4" and wieghs in at 150kg. There are not many of those people lying around. And fit? Don't tell me about that 'cold' he got last month when we had teh epidemic in teh office. Hah! I knew he was faking it. Where was the phlegm? The counghing fits that go on for minutes? An occassional "Achoo" doesn't work. It's not a sound you pronouce dammit! Still, now I understand why he's always looking out for me in the office. And how he always manages to jog my memory when I forget my wedding anniversary. He's a nice guy.
  2. Re: Character/Villain: Flagburner I like the "Survival (Temperate/Subtropical, Urban) " little tricks abd things taught by his father eh? It adds to the back story nicely.
  3. Re: Things I Have Learned Playing a Hard Boiled Detective Hard boiled detectives, when entering a bar, never order beer. Just Whiskey. Sometimes, if it's at that point when you have to tell "the story so far", you may get to drink that whiskey. If it's not that time, then some mook with a gun will take you to meet an important person and the whiskey is left on the bar for the bar lush to throw back.
  4. Re: Powerset suggestsion - TV star I was thinking of an ability that was the opposite of 'Stealth', as PRE doesn't really work when the star is off screen, away from the catwalk. Something that attracts papparazzi even when you don't want it, not just when you do. It's an advantage and a disadvantage. Continuous, 24/7 effect which has photographers hiding in your shed trying for pictures. To me, that's not a PRE effect.
  5. Re: Queen Mary keep on rollin' I may have found your ultimate site for ship plans. http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Main/home1.htm Go here, select the cruise line, (I picked Cunard), pick the ship (QE2) and it gives you a menu of all the decks. No idea how they print though. Windstar evn has some deck plans of sailing ships!
  6. Re: Wow....that is a useless power for sure.... Ability to breath water, only usable in a vaccuum.
  7. Re: Lost and Found super-ads Found: Unknown breed hound, white coloured, friendly, happy nature. Has a collar with red cloth cape affixed. Owner can collect anytime after 8.00pm Lost: Orange colur cat with white zig zag markings. Reward available.
  8. Re: Greatest Post-Apoc Film of All Time Salute of the Jugger (Rutger Hauer) or The Road Warrior (Mel Gibson) Hmmm.... Choices, choices, choices... Give me a day or so to decide.
  9. Re: Powerset suggestsion - TV star You'll need some hefty EGO Def, a whole bunch of Contacts (agents, other famous stars), Area Knowledge skills for the Media, and some stuff on Makeup, Dress, Modelling and maybe a skill that's the opposite of Stealth. The ability to be seen and noticed whenever she needs to be seen by everybody withing 50 metres.
  10. Re: Capes and Claws: Furry "Champions" Oh lordy, I can see the flting elephant now. Dumbo on steroids, "When I see an elephant fly!" being the theme tune. And, of course, the biggest flying brick would have to be either the old Hanna-Barbera "Atom Ant" or maybe "Mighty Mouse". Uh Oh.. Road Runner. Super speed, amazing luck. The Tasmanian devil? How hard do you want to mine the cartoons for your NPC's?
  11. Re: Point Efficiency vs. Concept But all he took was the picture. It was a Sterenko era pic, all blue body suit and strap down holster.
  12. Re: Horrorclix: Full pictures Love the Evil Leprechaun. And, as noted $2 for a painted figure is not bad. Don't by them all, just what you need for NPC's
  13. Re: More Japanese Monster The "Call from the Grave, connects to the phone system" is nicely done. I remember an episode of the Twilight zone and an 80's flick called (I think) "Dial 666-Evil" which had a similar gimmick. Why wouldn't ghosts use the phone system? "Warn a Friend" as a mind control? So the PC affected by it HAS to make the call? You don't allow them to RP it?

    When/If/How

Re: When/If/How True points. The pulp hero gained popularity when the "Mummy" came out. I saw a lot more Pulp games being played, likewise for releases of "The Phantom" and "The Shadow". But there hasn't been a decent western produced in some time. So it's a waning field.

    Champions LARP

Re: Champions LARP I liked the fake Doc Oc' ROFLMAO!!
  16. Re: Anatomy of a diorama Good selection of figures except that they'd all in 'action' poses. What sizes are they, 40mm? I can't tell from teh pictures and descriptions. Your original description says So that's a lot of modification work you've got to do. But I do admire your dedication. Back in the 80's, a lot of fantasy dioramas being shown in UK model competitions were using larger plastic Star Wars/Batman etc, posable "action figures" which were then heavily modded using doped tissue paper for cloth etc. With half way decent painting skills, the faces became anything you wanted. Ever thought of trying this?
  17. Re: [Character Review] BRUTE Pharmacology and Medicine are something like a 95% overlap. Anatomy and Biology are closely related. Genetics is way out by itself having nothing to do with the others. Surgery likewise is just being clever and delicate at cutting things up. You can ditch medicine, add say, Virology or Immunology perhaps. Doesn't fit with the rest very tightly as it's more of a DEX based skill based on anatomical knowledge. I think you can modify these and add a couple of skills, like Biotechnology to augment Genetics and Biology.

    Ages

Re: Ages Nice summation David! More rep to you! But you left out the aspect of fashion! From Golden age bright colours and capes (Capes, capes, get your capes! Buy one, get one free!). Silver Age bright coloured body suits and oddities (Rag man, swamp thing etc). Bronze Age civilian garb and odd bondage look outfits. Iron Age Big guns, body armour and a lot more belts and webbing.
  19. Re: Point Efficiency vs. Concept I remember something similar. A low STR brick who made up for it with some amazing RD PD etc, who insisted on carrying 1d6+1RKA pistol. I asked why, he said that held up his character sheet and said that it just looked cool on his characters picture - he'd used a 'Nick Fury Agent of Shield' pic as a base. I couldn't really argue with him. Inefficient, a tad silly, but it was his concept.
  20. Re: When a PC screws up, What next? Go with C) and F) It's a learning curve and he now has to play with a bunch of extra Disad's. But give him the chance to play his way out of there. It's a game, he's there to have fun and learn how to have more fun after all.
  21. Re: Champions Worldwide... Everywhere BUT The British Isles? But is your master detective a Miss Marples or a Sherlock Holmes clone? I do like the St. Trinians idea. Can you keep Terry Thomas as the owner / operator of the Dreadnought bus? Please? Infiltrated by Joyce Grenfell, elite secret agent of the Brit Gov???
  22. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... My resident brick hit his enemy, another brick, with a fire extinguisher. Body damage was way off the scale. So the extinguisher exploded with CO2 everywhere! His only comment was "I didn't think that would happen". 10 minutes before the laughter stopped.
  23. Re: The New Minutemen Which would make the Alaskan some form of Wendigo shape changer? What about territories? Guam or Puerto Rico could give you a 'sandman' type or another water / weather based body.
  24. Re: Point Efficiency vs. Concept A power suit with a brick inside it who has another secret identity perhaps or perhaps two (lol)? Personally I'll go for concept over efficiency everytime. As the experience points mount up, then you can slowly revise for efficiency. But the idea should take precedence
  25. Re: Queen Mary keep on rollin' Here's deck plans of passenger ship that sank in 1956, the Andrea Doria. This can made into any 20's through 60's liner. http://www.andreadoria.org/DeckPlans/Sun%20Deck.htm
