  1. Re: The New Minutemen I like it. Except for the idea that a powered being would lead the organization. Government beaucracy would stomp that flat up front. Where's the Gyrich character? The military oversite? The political hack who's running things for his own ends and reports to the Congressional Oversite committee? What do the government have that controls them, apart from complete knowledge of thie so-called "secret identities"?? Was David White a secret Psionic? Inquiring minds need to know! Tell all!

    Nightwing

Re: Nightwing A good idea. Some of his contacts are with villains who're not really villainous towards him, like Catwoman etc, and the low lives, like that dude who makes all of the costumes for the bad guys, that hang on the fringes. Could be some useful points there.
  3. Re: Lost and Found super-ads Found: One box of mixed metallic minerals, unknown chemistry, various sizes. Green and Red predominate, but there are some black, blue and orange, one gold in colour. Possible low level radioactivity.
  4. Re: Champions Worldwide... Everywhere BUT The British Isles? "So the last thing you saw, Hermit, having been tarred and feathered, was hogtied to a burning goat and run up the Channel tunnel? "yes Mi'lord" "Just in time to collide with the 11.57 from France?" "Yes sir, never saw him again." Almost any of the published heroes or villains can be re-written as a Brit. Just watch out for non-English mythology.
  5. Re: Power level for super villain group I agree with stmichaeldet and the supreme serpent I generally start with my villains being more powerful than the heroes by at least 50 points. But my heroes start a lot lower, usually in the 150-200 point range. They have to earn thier abilities. Another thing is that villain groups are, like your player groups, not static in thier line up. Change out ones they're getting too familiar with. replace with people they've run up against once, maybe. Or somebody you've just teased them with in the news reports.
  6. Re: Capes and Claws: Furry "Champions" I think you need to use more 'uprated' animal abilities in your creations. The animal world is full of 'bricks' and martial artists, use them. Such as a 'Goat' or similar based brick. Has a move through ramming attack, he's fast, good climbing skills, 270 degree vision, environmantal restistances etc. Use flyers with more wing based movement powers than rocket packs for example.
  7. Re: Fictional Cities I vote for fictionalising a real city. You can mess with the bits of the real city you don't like or need. And, as the game grows, you can place all the bits and bobs that you need without having to figure out exactly why the meat market is next to the railway station of the university is nowhere near a transport route. Mostly these additions can be cribbed from other products or scenarios, then have the names changed and serial numbers filed off.
  8. Re: WWYD if you could recieve ONE super power Emotion control. Total manipulation based upon touch, probably an odorless secretion from the skin. Why? Mellow people out or excite them as required. Stop the arguments and petty fights without changing peoples minds.
  9. Re: When Champions Begat I've tried running games with the offspring of PC's, but it lacks flavour. The PC's can only be themselves. Trying to be the son or daughter of somebody that one of the other characters has played is tough.

    Nightwing

Re: Nightwing Two other things that, scanning the list I couldn't see. Combat Sense, (although some of it is covered in other skills I suppose) and Reputation. He's been around a long time and is known as "Robin's all grow'd up!", which is not quite the same as the hunteds. More like 'he was trained by the best there is..." Might squeeze a couple more points out of those.
  11. Re: Wow....that is a useless power for sure.... How about a Martial art based upon thumb wrestling?
  12. Re: 'Constant Instant' Power? "Restrainable" works better than "Lingering" to me as a concept. The effects even out no matter which way you go.
  13. Re: based on ego Back at the first question. Another thing to remember is that with an ECV there's (almost) always no incidental effects. A line of sight with you and your target. Even if the LOS gets momentarily blocked by people walking between you and teh target, they are not going to be effected by the attack. Unlike bullets and beams.
  14. Re: Song Parodies Encore! Very nice indeed. There was a guy in our group (mid 80's, 1st & 2nd Edition gaming) who did similar, but he only used Alice Cooper tunes, as a lot of A.C's album tunes were easy to modify - I Love America, Welcome to My Nightmare (how he played with that!) and Only Women Bleed being his most used bases.
  15. Re: Analyze Teen Social Sturcture Skill? What to do? I agree with Derek & Shrike. A variation on High Society would be easiest. But, while being cheap, it'd be geographically limited. Euro / Asian teens might not show the same 'pecking' orders. Backwards and forwards in time might throw him off kilter as well.
  16. Re: throw and attack airborne target I suggest that a minimum requirement to try this would also involve a die throw with "Lightning Calculation" and a ranging sense. That's not going to be easy targetting, doing it on the fly.
  17. Re: "Neat" Pictures I wonder if they worked it up from the bike in "Tron"?
  18. Re: Answers & Questions Q) A long run down a rugby pitch to success A) What a saucy hat
  19. Re: Complicate the Person Above They cancelled "Fantasy Island" after death tribble starred as the misunderstood love interest of Zsa Zsa Gabor. They knew they'd never top that episode.
  20. Re: Wow....that is a useless power for sure.... I remember a kid who wanted the ability to see through girls clothes, like an old "Spy device" seen in small ads at the back of 60's era comic books. So he bought this amazingly limited N-ray vision that only penetrated 1mm below any material. A multiple clothes, a thick leather coat or combat gear stumped him every time.
  21. Re: Requiem Let's not forget the chorus of an old Stranglers tune... "What ever happened to the heroes? No more heroes anymore... " Good hook for a story dragging your favourite WW2 heroes.
  22. Re: Give me your house rules! I agree with the forget END usage unless you're running a low point game or there's an amazingly wierd character in play. Another one is having NPC's, (or even players), surrender. None of the baddies, unless you're in a 'dark' game) really want to keep on fighting after that first major stun and knock down. Allow them to give up and use the "I'll be back" line. Too many GM's and players insist on fighting to the last drop of energy or blood.
  23. Re: Disadvantages giving xp I can see a GM giving a player a present of a few extra points but not telling him what the disadvantage is. But I used to run games where I only handed out the points, never told them what the points were for. I made for fun in the pub later when we were discussing the evenings play.
  24. Re: Requiem It may be better than continuing the discussion of rabbit pr0n you know. Although I've just watched Bun-Her and the Buns of Navarone if you wish to continue the thread? And remember, We Can Be Heroes... Just For One Day!
