Re: The Perfect Power Build I had a simular power build that i tried to get working, and if allowed would make the person near untouchable by all types of attacks. But when it comes down to it we have a rule here: "No building a power to do another powers job." IE I can't make a Teleportation field that emmulates Missle Deflection, or Desolidification. Not becuase it isn't possible to simulate it, but becuase it will tend to be overly broken for its cost to effect. La Rose Sir Teleportation

Re: Heroic Characteristic Maxima? I personally tend to agree with Hugh on this. The most major effect of NCM is on you design options and if you arn't intending on being super than it doesn't really affect you. I also don't, in my games, allow NCM unless I make it for everyone. This is basically "you take this no questions asked and don't get points!" But to go back to your example of dwarves(by the way I would allow them to cast, but that is just me). I wouldn't have given them points for the disad, and here is why. 1. At the start of the game when I give the characters the history of the world I would note specials that apply to certain races and let them know ahead of time what they are. If they still choose to be a member of the race great, if not then they don't have to worry. 2. Now I would also try and balance things out so that they don't just get a disad that no one else has to suffer for free. 2.1. Maybe by making every race have a simular disad or 2.2. by appling advantages to the dwarves that don't exist for the others, ie increase NCM for certain stats so as to pay off the differnce. 10pt disad equals for the dwarves a NCM of 23 Con and 22 Body or something simular that way the 10pt disad comes with 10pts worth of kick-backs. But I tend to me more restrictive on how people restrict there characters. And on a side note, I thought once that I should start up a resturaunt. It would be a rather cramped area with a jungle backdrop painted on all the walls. Keep the heatting on all the time. And if you looked closely enough at the paintings you might see someone in the back ground. Every few hours I would have someone from the kitchen run screaming though the dining area carring a gun. The name of the place would be "Charlie's" and serve vietnamese food. And we could do 2 for 1 specials on veteran's day. No one liked my idea and I don't know why. La Rose

Re: Zombies: Real World Campaign Very nice, I was thinking about doing something like this for a Halloween game last year but never got around to it. I like the above zombie but there are a couple things I would do different. 1.) Lower the Dex to 7, why? Because 8 is a normal human and Zombies tend to be even slower than normal people. 2.) Drop all Leap and Swim, Then Reduce run to 5, for the same above reason. 3.) Lastly buy its STR and RUN with "Reduced End, 0end" at +1/2advantage. Zombies never tire and never give up. Although this is less important becuase, unless you 'push' your zombies they will always be able to Rec,\ there End at any given time. But those are my thoughts. La Rose

Re: Teleport as a defensive move I guess I am just of the mind that anyone that can utilize there powers in beneficial ways isn't breaking the system but out-thinking the GM and I appluade that. It gives a real rush to me as a GM to have to adapt and the players a chance to be creative and know that I wont penalize them. Now when it comes to points spent I would think that buying the power skill is appropriate but not Deflection or Desolid. If the option for a character keeps coming up where two enemies are Lined Up Enough to cuase this. Then you just simply have a stupid villian and that is the GM's fualt not the players. As an additional point. I used my Teleporter to enrage a Density increase villian that I knew I couldn't hurt to come after me. I then led her into a series of Marble posts till she finially gave out and dropped. For all We(the players) were concerned I could have just explained away my ability to tuant a villian as limited mind controll, it had the same effect but the differnce is that wasn't what I did. I use my superior intelect and what I had at hand to get the effect I desired, not Mind control. And any GM that tried to penalize me for doing so isn't worth playing for. He would probably eventually vote to free her IF he could get a mental scan done of her that would let us know her intentions, and not a moment sooner! Re: Teleport as a defensive move I think you all are trying to place to many rules on a well thought out plan. If I as a player(and yes I do this all the time with my teleporter) managed to line up multiple enemies so that one hurts the other, that isn't a Game Rule but a story line effect. I wouln't penalize someone for not buying "reflect/deflect" just becuase they have an intelegent character. But that is just me La Rose

Re: Strength of Zero Personally I think it is a travesty if your player is so dead set on the points that he would do that to himself. I as the GM just wouldn't allow it. I agree with you on the item that inorder to move around in a resonable manner you must have a reasonable str to account for it. If he insist on having that low of a str, and you allow it. You could just have him scale back his run. And being that I'm vicious to power gamers I would get a TK master to grapple him all the time and prevent him from doing anything, you would only need about 4pts of TK Str w/ LOS and a few skill levels for Str based checks. Hello everyone, I am having issue with how to exactly go about creating this powered armor so that it has a paticular ability. The player wants his suit of armor to have a device in it that will mask his heat signature when people with IR vission look apon him and also not reflect back radar. I said ok to his request with the statement that I would have to figure out the best way to build it. I was going to go with invisibity but I forgot that it requires you to choose an entire sense group at once, and that isn't appropriate since you will be able to See him with normal sight. Well anyway I imagine you can see my issue here. My next best option is to buy Concealment with appropriate limitations to refelct that it is only working against items X and Y and has limitations ABC(to reflect that it is a armored suit). But I was wondering if there were any other ideas out there? Please and Thank you La Rose:help: This is edited in. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem his HD. I was building a NightVission Goggle w/ telescopic to offset range penelties. After I confirmed that I had what I wanted, it showed up with "Telescopic" as "Build in" and that is a new one on me. It wont let me edit Telescopic adder(so as to change the value it offsets) and if I go to try and Rebuild it it shows that it is built in still. What should I do to cuase HD to go back to the Book definition of Nightvission? Re: New President - I'm with you on this one. Superman wouldn't take the office(assuming he could which as was stated is completly prohibited by the constitution). I can see him at best/worst declaring a Vice Pres and then stepping down to allow them to run things while he continued his busisness. Besides that, Although he is the Champion of Truth Justice and the American way, he has always been more global than that. I wouldn't think Superman wouldn't want to be forced into stricted allegence to the US when there is a world to be saved. Although I disagee, Batman I think would make a great President. La Rose

Re: Build this power both log and edsel have good ideas but If they concept is just to make the essential "Focus on standing" then I would go with CE. It doesn't prevent them from doing anything just makes it difficult. Also don't forget such limitation as "Only while in contact with earth," or maybe "two dimentional." La Rose

Hello Herodom, I know there have been several threads about differnt mech involvement in Hero System. But rather than attempt to sift though the Hundreds of threads and read the Millions of comments I am comping out. I was hoping that from fellow Giant Mecha fans to point me in the right direction to find the diamond in the rough(or the Auto cannon amoung machine guns). Or just to go ahead and throw out there two cents on the idea. I am mostly worried about how to compensate for the massive difference in Power between the mundane normals and the Giant super bots. I would like it so that a person alone cant just shoot at a mech and harm it but I don't want its defenses so high that for any other mech to harm it, they have to be packing nukes. Re: WWYCD: Dead Enemies are no fun. MURDER!!! Being that The Rose is a public figure, and his life is open in that he has no secret ID. If/when He woke up and saw the Police at His door waiting to escort Him down to the Department, he would go with them. Being that He is a diplomatic represenitive of the French Government and can't offically be charged or detained He would have no fear of being arested and held, but would have to do all he can to sway the press to the idea that it was a set up and he was framed. Shouldn't be that hard I mean He can talk his way out of calling the next morning, this should be a cake walk. La Rose

Hello people of Herodom: I was wondering how my fellow Hero System Engineers would build this. I was reading this book and came acrossed this creature, and I thought to myself(as I often do) "How would you build this in Hero System?" Only this time I was stumped on what way would be the best way to get the desired effect. The Creature in this case is a Large Humanoid that has a basic symbiotic relationship with several Blood Sucking Flies. They travel with him and when he stops to eat then they scour the land feasting on anything that is alive. But in doing so they cause agonizing pain to the victim(not necessarily causing Damage). The Characters Had to actively control themselves to keep from screaming out in pain, thereby revealing there position to the beast. The flies obviously attack multiple people at once. And the Range should be around 100+ feet(so about 17 inches.) The reason it is a symbiotic relation ship is because the beast sheds his kill's blood on its chest for the flies to feast on. My First thought was to have a 1 pip killing attack over a large area that only effect ceatures with blood. But the characters that went toe to toe with this thing(other than fright) came out of it unharmed. So what do you all think? La Rose

I know most people complain about smaller dogs being "Yappy" but that was never really the case with most of mine; yes there was on that was, but one out of four isn't bad. Well here is a power I actually have on The Rose: A Rose by Any other Name: Major Transform 1d6 (air into Rose), Improved Results Group (any color rose; +1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (26 Active Points); No Range (-1/2), All Or Nothing (there is no such thing as Half a Rose; -1/2), Gestures (flick of the wrist(always looks cool); -1/4) I slapped this in a multi-power of Teleportation trix (I essentially summon one from my personal Garden) so it only cost me 1pt. He might try and stay for a moment and help form a better system for the alliance(rebels) to fight with, but in the end he is only one super with a mission in his home plain to keep the Kings of Edom out.
