  1. Re: WWYCD: The Darkest Hour Requiem would pretty much be at both of their mercies. He would not be able to stop Black Eagle from being on him, and if he saw any other girls in the area, he would be all over them. Of course, bullies and bigots would get the beatings of their lives. Lex's Code vs. Killing would go to Total, as well, thus preventing him from doing any serious harm.
  2. Re: The things you pick up from Cartoon Network I've been reading the Bleedman comics for a while. I can say they are some of the most fun you can get from the Cartoon Network characters (plus some Nickelodeon). Alas, CN has really gone downhill for me. They started strong with some awsome toons (Dexters Lab, before it turned; Johnny Bravo before it -seriously- turned; Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack...), but its selection of cartoons recently has just been the kind you find at the bottom of the barrel. Especially with Adult Swim. All of the CN series designed for AS are terrible. Sealab, Venture Brothers, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Minoriteam, 12 Ounze Mouse, and more... These are BAD! They possess the worst examples of both writing and animation that one can find... EVER! Why is it that a television channel dedicated to showing cartoons is all about showing the worst examples of its type? These shows dedicated to stupidity and lowest-common-demoninator humor endure and get renewed, over and over. Meanwhile, shows like Justice League are thrown to the wayside. Any show with good writing and good animation is gotten rid of "because it's too expensive." CN is starting to become just another money-grubbing company, intent on showing the cheapest piece of $#!+ shows and refusing to show the good stuff. As it is Juniper Lee (when i can find it) and Robot Chicken are the only shows I care to watch on CN anymore.
  3. Re: ORCS! What makes them our favourite enemies??? Good save...
  4. Re: Superhero Images I'm a big fan of Ascendent from CoH. He was just the funniest and nicest guy. I even got to team with him, once. I have since left CoH, but I still have fond memories. I even made a standing cardstock for him (not that we've got to use it for any of our games). So, if you are out there, A, we have a figure for you if you ever want to join our superhero games.
  5. Re: What power sets do you like, but never play? I've been interested in a while with playing a size-alteration character (both growing and shrinking). I have also wanted to play a character with Multiforms for a while.
  6. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Monday night's StarHERO game. The PCs have taken out a 1000' Vallenthori WarEagle with their 400' pocket Battleship in less than one Turn. Captain Murdoch: "Why is it all other alien governments think that I'm negotiating from a possition of weakness?"
  7. Re: Looking for story input... If you want the Champions to be missing for a while, so that your PC team can become famous, have them fight the "Champions". For the idea I have to give you, don't have the PCs fight mind-controlled Champions (this idea has been done to death, I'm sure). Give VIPER a new villain who can steal powers from one super-being and give them to others. As such, this new villain can take the captured Champions' powers and give them to VIPER agents. This can be an on-going thing for a while in your campaign until your PCs finally manage to rescue the Champions.
  8. Re: Villain SIDs A criminal super-power4ed being in Metaworld has as many rights as any other convicted criminal. That is to say, very little. Their identity is given out to all law-enforcement agencies. Book 'em! You do the crime, you lose your rights to privacy.
  9. Re: Sin City HERO While these are good write-ups, I feel they are... under-powered. Sin City is a superhero campaign world where people don't wear costumes or have overt powers. Otherwise it is still a superhero world. Think of the impossible things people do. Marv smashes through car windshields and police body armor like it doesn't exist. Even really strong men cannot do this. He gets shot in the head, and does not die! He even mentions that the cops at the end of his story should have "shot me in the head; and enough times to make it count." I would write up Marv like Marvel's Beast (from the X-Men) without the wall-clinging. Almost everyone else has some analog hero to compare them to, in my opionion. Dwight is Longshot (consider his luck). Hardigan is obviously Batman (he even talks like Batman from the Dark Knight Returns... duh). Just my humble opinion.
  10. Re: Looking for some "names" If these enemies are where the legends of demons come from, why not call just them "Demons" or "Devils"? Anime series do not tend to complicate their names, when they can help it. Think of the Angels from Evangelion, the Heartless from Kingdom Hearts (okay, not actually an anime series, but you know what I mean), or the Devils from Devil Hunter Yoko.
  11. Re: Rifts HERO? Honestly, as I said before, there seems to be no proper value attached to Credits. I cannot offer a dollars to credits conversion. It you want a basic scale, I use this: Active Points of Gear x 20 = Credits Cost
  12. Re: Guns as a Multipower? I was in a street-level HERO game with a PC who made a gun-user. Their character had a high-tech gyro-jet revolver that could switch to whatever cylinder she wanted. Each cylinder had a different shot; or she could fill every cylinder with the same shot, depending on what she wanted. I'm pretty sure she wrote it as a Multipower with a number of different charges per clip. As it was not my character, I cannot be sure as the exact write-up. Sorry. However, I am planning my own Rifts-style game. In it, some of the energy weapons have variable settings. For instance, laser rifles can have a single-shot attack (standard AP RKA), and rapid-fire setting (include Autofire). If the rifle has an underslung grenade launcher, I add an Explosive EB to the Multipower. And don't forget to have a rifle-butt attack (normal HA).

  14. Re: Life Support: Longevity? I use it on characters who are genuinely immortal (at least in the un-aging sense). My American Eagle character has it, as he is eternally powered by the cosmic forces of the universe. For NPCs, most demonic creatures and undead have it (duh). It also adds flavor for long-lived villains.
  15. Re: Arabian Hero As suggested above, I recommend reading the GURPS Arabian Nights and TSR's Al-Qadim books. As for the religions of the game, that is for you to decide. For my fantasy Arab settings, I use the generic "Fates" as a guiding force. As a note, don't have people use the word "infidel" unless they know what it means. I hate that word, and think it gets used a little too often.
  16. Re: What to do with your stuff... Most fantasy campaigns I am in have Bags of Holding of some sort. If my character wants to walk about town, he can do so with his stuff on him. It is also understood in these campaings that adventurers are a common enough sight that people just walk down the streets wearing armor and weapons all the time. "An armed society is a polite society."
  17. Re: The use of accents/voices in your game In our campaigns, my group "bodycasts" the PCs and important NPCs. That is to say, if the game were to be a TV show, who would play the character... As such, we do our best to sound like whoever the bodycast is. If a player casts Sean Connery or Arnie for their character, they had better know how to talk like them. Otherwise, pick someone else. In my fantasy campaign, some races have distinctive accents. My humans tend to sound British, elves speak with an American accent, dwarves are Norse, orcs are... just plain gruff-sounding.
  18. Re: Looking for Advice on a "Buffer/ Healer" Superhero Okay, from what I am reading here, I am a little confused. Does your character have a technological force field emitter, plus he has the powers to heal/buff others on his own (as his own, personal superpower)? If such is the case, I have some suggestions for you. Think about the "theme" of your powers. All superheroes should have a theme that link their powers together (if a power does not fit within the theme, the character should not posses the power). Your character's theme is the manipulation of life energy. From what I read of your Healing power, you can track the wounds and how significant they are. This should mean that your character should have a Detect Life Forms power to sense other living things around you. Despite that fact that your character is a pacifist, you may want to consider your character having some attack powers (such as a STR and/or END Drain). Just because you are never going to use it, does not mean you should not have it. How about a Transfer that takes enemy STR or END and buffs your Healing power? This is non-lethal, and will cause no serious harm to your enemies (thus not really violating your pacifism). As for your GM not wanting to break the campaign power levels, I can understand. You may want to slightly alter your Aid with some Limitations. For example, your Aid power can only make someone as strong as X, or as fast as X, as resistant as X, etc. Thus, you are not violating your campaign limits, and the GM is not weeping over his defeated villains. Also, the Gm is not making you play your character the way -he- wants it; it will be how -you- want it.
  19. Re: Hair Tricks? When I was thinking up a Prehensile Hair villain for my game, I thought of the idea of giving them extra STR (Extra Limbs Only), with the additional Limitation of (Loses 5 STR per 1"). Basically, because the character would not be able to get the bulk of her hair at her target (the farther away her target is), she would not be able to use the full-force of her hair at maximum extention.
  20. Re: "Neat" Pictures This is the end of the internet as we know it! I really hope I don't get banned for this post due to the subject matter, but I had to share this.
  21. Re: Champions Assemble! In most of my superhero games, the team use special communicators. Several years ago, I ran a monster-hunter game set in my Metaworld campaign (think Night Stalkers). The team all lived together and rarely seperated, so communication rarely came up. Eventually, I ran a cross-over with one of the heroes from one of the mainstream teams. When they started to go out into the field, the heroine, Silk, asked, "Okay, so what frequency are you guys set to?" There was the sound of crickets... "Frequency?" asked the monster hunters. "Yeah," said Silk, "the frequency for your communicators...?" "Communicators?" Silk slaps herself in the head. The fact is, I ran the monster-hunters game for over a year up to this point, and the subject of communication devices had -never- come up.
  22. Re: The Champion Protocols (ie how to take down your character) American Eagle: Easily taken down with some nearby Element N. Magical is also particularly effective against him. While he is near-invulnerable to physical damage, he is only about 1/2 as effective against energy attacks. Zap him hard enough, and he'll go down. Requiem/Goblyn: Super-physical training and photographic reflexes. He will have to be taken out when asleep or at range. Of course, he is also easily distracted by the ladies. Bastion: Colossus-type. He still needs to breathe, so any gas attacks will work against him. Taboo: Cold Iron will sail right through any magical defenses she has (regular iron isn't good enough, and it's not like cold iron is a common material).
  23. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Last Monday's Star HERO game. The PCs are attempting to clear inter-dimensional arachnids from an alien space hulk. The Captain is using Continuous Fire with his plaser rifle to blast many of these warp spiders at a time, rather accurately. Var'kesh (Engineer): "You should teach all your security that..." Captain Murdoch: "What? Firing discipline?"
  24. Re: What are _____ like in your game? I usually don't bother coming up with origins for my fantasy races unless I have a very good idea. Dwaves of Embria were a race of earth elementals who were enslaved on the Mortal Realm by the ancient Cyclopians. Despite being elementals, they could breed true with each other. With the assistance of the elves, the dwarves won their freedom. In the early Ages, dwarves, as elementals, had no souls. If a dwarf died, they were gone forever. This is were dwarves got their dour mentality and their penchant for a vengful attitude. If you threatedned a dwarf's life, you were threatening everything it had! Eventually, a goddess took the dwarves under her influence and now, all dwarves have souls able to ascend to the Higher or Lower Planes (depending on their life choices).
