  1. I just got around to seeing The Last Jedi. I used to be such a Star Wars fan too.
  2. Best wishes for all, and may your best dreams come true.
  3. If you’re a GM who likes to play out the more real world byproducts of certain powers. (Without worrying about strict point values) Flash attacks are also very noticeable at distance triggering possible Perception rolls. (I had a player use one as a distress flare once) and can have a lingering after effect on the victim such as seeing spots for a time. Darkness would do neither of these effects. For me it’s all about the special effect. P.S. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  4. Are you thinking of using the system in their book or just using the background material and running it as Hero? Or had you decided yet?
  5. I just got an idea for the next Addams Family animated movie. Gomez & Morticia tell the kids the story of them meeting in high school and how they fell in love.
  6. Something in the title of this thread spoke to me. My history with Champions is so bound up with my real life that one couldn’t exist without the other. Around 35 years or so ago I was a guy in my 20’s and a girl I liked said “you like comics, I play a game that’s kind of a D&D for comic books.” “Come see if you like it.” So I went. If she said “Hey, every Saturday night we cut off our own heads, wanna come along?” I would have gone. I knew a couple of the people vaguely and I did have fun. The next two decades or so just kind of flew by. Some of that group and others that I met along the way became the best friends I’ve ever known. Others became enemies. A very few are closer to me than my own brothers. I became Godfather to the children of the “kid” I first got to know when driving him in to Boston to play after inviting him to join our group. He’s a man now of course and a Captain of Firefighters. (a REAL Hero) He met the lovely woman who would become his wife over a Champions game. The games came and went. GM’s and players did the same. Some friends have passed away, and when we remember them we always end up saying that they’ve just gone ahead to save us the “good table” in a room with a blackboard to put up a Dex Chart. Time and circumstance has spread us across the map although we stay in pretty constant touch. And I myself haven’t picked up a set of dice in a decade or more, but I think about those days often. Times both spent at the Game table and away, love and laughs and inside jokes we now have to clean up so we can explain them to the kids. Thinking about the title of this thread made me want to say to those who created this sometimes silly game and may have thought this a small accomplishment in a big world....Thank You for what it’s meant to the life of just this one player.
  7. I see this thread concentrating on how to match strength against strength. When GMing I prefer to challenge my players with opposites, is the team “brick heavy” show them the value of not getting hit with high Dex villains. Are your players the type to run in without thinking...show them what one planner on the other side can accomplish. And so on. There’s probably some very deep Sun-Tzu quote I could throw out, but I’ll go with that great strategist Vince Lombardi. “Hit ‘em where they ain’t.
  8. Dropping a few kids before you can get a drivers license...scary world. “Mom, the baby’s coming, can you drive us to the hospital, ‘cause Bobby isn’t allowed to drive at night yet?” “Son you’re grounded.” “Yeah, well, Grandma says you are too!”
  9. Le’s see...comparing Alyssa Milano to a delicious treat you have to peel apart to fully enjoy. So many things to say...so many ways to get banned of the site forever. Good night folks!! Don’t forget to tip your waitress!!
  10. Well, there’s Thanos, Darkseid and Doomsday on one side of the equation and Lex Luthor and the Kingpin on the other. It all depends on what type of “challenge” you want to give them.
  11. Robin. I’ve been watching a lot of BtVS lately.
  12. I completely agree, players get so unreasonable after you cack (Verb, meaning: To kill) the entire team a few lousy times....wimps. (Tongue placed firmly in cheek. Reach up to straighten halo.)
  13. You just proposed an entire Western city laid out as a pentagram....there’s got to be some cool Weird West stuff going on.
  14. Well, he used as a weapon and it really happened so I guess it makes sense. P.S. I read that sentence and it seemed a little wise-ass, but that was just the logic chain I went through.
  15. There’s video of a couple of guys going after that bastard in London. Attacking someone wearing a suicide vest. One was barehanded, the second armed only with a fire extinguisher and the third with and I swear to God....a Narwhale Tusk!!!! Forget capes and masks, this is an origin!!! “Somebody get this man a Shield!!!!”
  16. “towards” !?! Look around, this is Rome, the Visigoths are banging on the gates and Nero’s on his balcony sending tweets.
  17. Evil is it’s own reward!! Bwah-Ha-Ha!!! (Mine is an evil laugh!)
  18. Best wishes and best of luck for you both.
  19. So in short, Christmas is overcomercialized and people have lost any true meaning if there ever was any.....right? To which my response is “Yeah, no kidding,...so what?” If you don’t like the way other people behave there’s very little you can do about it. Just change the way you behave and maybe it’ll catch on. This year I was supposed to figure out things for my family to get me for the holiday. I thought for a while and realized that there wasn’t anything I needed this year. In the past I’ve asked for them to chip in for a car repair, or maybe I really wanted some book or DVD, but this time I found that my basic needs are all met and that while I’m disabled and living on a fixed income, for right now things are pretty good. On the other hand members of my family while having good years themselves, are kind of strapped for cash. Just married or about to have a baby, etc. So I told them to take whatever they were going to spend on a present for me to just give it to the Red Nose charity. (Comedy being used to help kids works for me on several levels) And first not to tell me how much they spent. Second if putting the cash together after the holiday was easier then just do that. Gandhi said to “be the change you want to see in the world” if that feels like the right thing for you to do “just do it”. I’m nowhere near being a saint and next year there may be something in particular I need. If so then things will change. But for now if you don’t like the commercialism and fuss of the season just change the way you do things and don’t sweat everybody else. P.S. I am however a genius for discovering the best way to do holiday shopping. Decide beforehand what your “theme” for gifts will be for the year. Books, clothes, music ,whatever. Then pick the one store you’ll go to. Then buy everything for everybody there. Most of the hassle about the shopping is the travel time and parking and spending the day in every store in every mall. You never find the “perfect gift” for everyone anyway and just make yourself crazy trying. Now they still get something you think they’ll like but you don’t kill yourself doing it.
  20. If this sounds good to you then more power to ya, but to me it sounds like something they feed to political prisoners to make them talk.
  21. Wild turkeys can fly. Domesticated and bred for eating turkeys have overdeveloped breasts areas (like Pamela Anderson) so they can’t fly. Happy Thanksgiving, and Squanto was a traitor!!
