"No, I've been nervous lots of times."

Claymore: Margo, you don’t return my calls any more.
Margo: That’s not true. I never did return your calls.
Claymore: I know! I can’t imagine why.
Margo: It’s because: I. Don’t. Like. You.

My favorite Zombie song is probably By Johnathan Coulton

Hermit reacted to Enforcer84 in Whats YOUR Champions universe like?
My universe, Else Earth, started out as a 3rd Edition Champs campaign in middle school. We played in one campaign or another for 8 years and then college and life moved everyone away. I have been in 2 champions games since 1991.
But I love making characters and writing worlds...So in 1996, I went through my old notebooks and cribbed character files and started putting it together as it's own world.
I mostly abandoned the old CU, though I have a few characters/teams who were CU characters (Solitaire from 4th Ed Champions team played a BIG part in one of our campaigns.) I'm still building the world 20 years later in fits of creativity, innovation, and/or nostalgia.

Fie! What base knavery is this? That a man should beat his own breast and boast of his aggression and proclaim the beam in his eye gives him vast prowess to judge others? What unknightly behavior that he should forsake the chivarlic virtues of humility, temperance, and fortitude and instead, like a drunkard lurching for fermented swill, seek to claim a crown. Meanwhile, the townsfolk do quake in fear or outrage at his ignoble behavior. Miloth! the man lacks the genteel spirit required of those who would offer to guide a people, ALL the people about, and not just the select few he would favor. Were he to set one foot in Camelot, even Sir Kay, a bit of a brute himself, would not deign sup with the like, and Arthur would weep to see that an odious weed had arisen claiming to be a flower of knighthood. Fie and Fie again! I clear the dust from my heels and will have no truck with him!

Hermit reacted to Lord Liaden in DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
The track record of Warner meddling with their DC properties has been abysmal. If this is true, word of it is going to cripple their box office, whatever the result turns out to be. Patty Jenkins has earned the trust to be allowed to make the movie she wants to make.

Hermit got a reaction from L. Marcus in The Reformed not likely to be used continuing NaNoWriMo thread
Well, I got a basic idea for a fantasy novel...
it's about this girl
like, peasant level
and she lives in a miserable crapsack world
run by an evil them
and them keeps secrets and steals power all for themselves so they can oppress and lie to peoples!
And the girl starts out just wanting to avoid a bad marriage, so ends up getting close to thems as haven
but then learns some of them there secrets whats kept
and then the girl learns about the need to find more of the truthiness!
AND then... she discovers the truthiness and decides, despite the danger, that it's better for her, and maybe for others!
So... she does the right thing!
Well, Them don't like those what do the right thing, and the hunt her!
Only. GRRLLL power and resourcefulness and maybe stab stab
and she plants the seed of hope and truth!
It's TOTALLY original!

Hermit reacted to archer in Charmed Reboot
After watching the first episode of the reboot, I turned to my spouse and said, "I don't think that had any of the charm of the original."
She cracked up because she realized I was just stating my opinion rather than making an intentional pun.

Speaking as a male who is by biological sex, a male, and by gender identification, a male, I prefer Nontrans to Cis.
I would also be cool with muggle.
I try to respect what others prefer to be called, so I don't think that's too much to ask.
That said, I don't have a sticker on my forehead or a T Shirt declaring such so unless I expect folks to develop psychic powers and KNOW that dot dot dot
I do find the idea that a nontrans males cannot teach women's studies rather sexist of the character. Civilians who have lived lives of peace can teach military history, hell, they can even teach military strategy. Said teacher might have a different perspective, but there's no more shame in learning women's studies from a male perspective than there is learning about learning said military studies from a civilian one. But without context of the scene beyond what was mentioned I can't be sure if it's deliberately illogical writing, actual bigotry on part of the writer, or that the character herself is meant to be a bigot, possibly one who will overcome her narrowmindedness as the season progresses.
I do know that the first thing criticized was terrible acting, and you can't normally fix that
So I'll probably pass.

If it's any comfort, that's just a get-out-the-vote ploy the administration is doing to the Religious Right. It isn't as if the administration is going to actually do anything, any more than Bush Jr. was serious about his October surprise policy initiatives to motivate the Religious Right to get out and vote.
The Republican establishment, and now Trump, treat the Religious Right as if they were Charlie Brown and a football.
If they actually checked off anything on the agenda of the Religious Right, they don't have a clue as to how they'd motivate those people to show up to vote in the next election. That blind spot in their thinking might sound odd to Democrats who generally try to fulfill the agendas of their various constituencies then depend on loyalty in the next election cycle, but the Republican establishment hasn't ever figured out that paradigm.

Holy Thread resurrection!
Yah... I'm back.
Last night, RDU Neil and other sundry gamers such as I, started our Session Zero for Champions Now playtest. Despite being hundreds of miles from Neil, the miracle of the intrawebs, discord, web camera and a head phone with a mike, allowed me to join my former gaming group. Of course, I was doodling as we hashed out stuff, as is my wont. Really, it is a compulsion. I can't help myself. Luckily I am pretty good at paying attention while doodling so Neil doesn't want to drown me in a tub of jello while holding 2 Hero 6 system books.
Today, I colorized "Flanker", my new PC in the Champs Zero game. We had a really great session and I'm looking forward to the game. Flanker is a *slow* speedster (his top is around 175 mph, which is pretty slow for comics speedsters... but still ungodly fast) and a mini brick. We are the U of M's very first super team, sponsored by the University to keep us from being kidnapped in the middle of the night by Federal shadow agencies that want supers. My character was on the MIchigan football team as a wide receiver, (set up in the flank hint, hint), but can't play football anymore. His running sometimes goes out of control and he would be in Ohio by accident. I hint at maize and blue in the uniform, without aping the look completely.
Maybe RDU Neil will post the 6 sentences that was contributed by all of us that is the foundation of the campaign. So looking forward to this.
Have I mentioned that I'm looking forward to this game?
