  1. Re: Things That Make You Go "Hmmmm...." Under that interpretation, the final amount Suppressed would be 22 points. This gives 78 active points, which is enough for 7.5d6 area suppress (but not for 8d6), which has a standard effect of 22 points. Or, if 7.5d6 has a standard effect of 23 points, then you have 77 active points left in the power, still enough for 7.5d6 of Suppress. [1] (If my math is right, a 70 point area effect Suppress should give 7d6 of Suppress. Is my math right?) I'm not sure that's the correct interpretation. Even if it is, it's too much work for me to want to do on the fly; I'd call it a 30-point Suppress for the first time it's used, and only lower the effect for subsequent uses, and not worry about the difference. [1]This is an algebra problem that's trickier to set up than it is to solve. 10 active points in the listed power will Suppress 3 active points of the power. So, if A is the original number of active points, and B is the post-suppress number of active points, then A - B (the amount suppressed) will end up equaling 3/10 * B (also the amount suppressed), so that A = 13/10 B, or B = 10/13 A. In this case, A = 100, so B = 1300/10, which is just shy of 77.
  2. Re: Ten Spider-Man Appearances That Will Never Hit Hollywood But ... how do you stop a giant, invulnerable, magically-enraged Lou Albano?
  3. Re: Extra STR, Only Vs. STR Min Would this end up being any different, functionally, from "Only For Calculating Damage For Lances"? Would that limitation be worth -2?
  4. Re: How to build: Traffic Light Changer When I was thinking up a character with this power, I decided to go with Change Environment. (Which reminds me --- I probably should actually finish writing up PDA May. One of these years.)
  5. Re: Sorceror/Wizard 3.5 Spell Conversion I don't know how expensive this will be, but could you do the 'let people see invisible' bit with a combination of (a) Images (sparkly bits), and ( Detect, only to know where to put the Images?
  6. Re: Valdorian Age world map (dear Mr Curtis...) Maybe. But, personally, I prefer my maps of the U.S. to have only one Indiana.
  7. Re: Aliens - where are they? The Mon'dabi, Perseids, Se'ecra, Thorgons, Varanyi, Hzeel (you forgot them), Malvans, Mandaarians, Fassai, and Xenovores are written up in Terran Empire, along with many others. They're future versions of the races, but probably can be used with little to no modification for Champions. The Thane are mentioned, but not written up. I think I remember that they were (or will be) written up somewhere, but I don't remember where. The Sirians, Qularr, and Gadroon are very minor races by the time of Terran Empire, and are not written up. There should be more information on Xenovores in Alien Wars. I don't remember seeing the Selenites anywhere. There may be more information in Worlds of Empire; I don't own that one yet.
  8. Re: Your "2007" Pet Gaming Projects 2007? I haven't finished my project for 2006 yet. Heck, I haven't even started my project for 2006 yet! (Maybe I should get on that ...)
  9. Re: Stickler for Details: 1/2 Point Issues I don't think the cost buying 3 END rounds down to 1, any more than buying 3 points worth of an Energy Blast rounds up to a full die. There's no division involved in calculating END costs; you have to spend (at least) 1.5 character points to get 3 END, and you have to spend whole-number amounts of character points, so 3 END would cost you 2 character points. At least, that's how I think it works. And, yes, it means that, in terms of cost effectiveness, you "should" buy 4 END for the same 2 character points.
  10. Re: Mental Regeneration How about this? Buy a follower - a computer. (I'm a little unsure about this, but I get the impression that computers don't have to be physical objects.) The computer has constantly trained on you a 1d6 Transform defined appropriately (something like "to 'regular' form, with all appropriate cumulative memories, et al.). Of course, if you wanted to use this Transform to actually give you new or more powerful abilities, I hope the GM would veto it. But I think I might allow it in this situation.
  11. Re: House Rule: Can be thrown advantage It's a Limitation for a ranged power, and an Advantage for a no-range power.
  12. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever Maybe the Spidey/Iron Fist Sabertooth was an inferior clone? [i think they've shown flashbacks of Sabertooth where he was the tougher version.] Then again, why am I bothering trying to fix Marvel's continuity? They obviously aren't too concerned about it.
  13. Re: Predators: who else found the 'Easter Egg'? Are those "Easter Eggs", or are they part of the "donate money to get your name in the book" project? I suppose, from a reader's point of view, it doesn't make much difference, though.
  14. Re: Color Spray Here's the SRD version: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Color Spray Illusion (Pattern) [Mind-Affecting] Level: Sor/Wiz 1 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: 15 ft. Area: Cone-shaped burst Duration: Instantaneous; see text Saving Throw: Will negates Spell Resistance: Yes A vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from your hand, causing creatures to become stunned, perhaps also blinded, and possibly knocking them unconscious. Each creature within the cone is affected according to its Hit Dice. 2 HD or less:The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.) 3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round. 5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round. Sightless creatures are not affected by color spray. Material Component A pinch each of powder or sand that is colored red, yellow, and blue. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally, it seems more complicated than it need to be to me. I would probably just go with a 3d6 NND EB, doesn't affect blind targets, with a linked 2d6 Sight Flash. I suppose limited range (-1/4) would be appropriate, too, but I'd forget trying to do the saving throw and "more HD get less affected" parts; leave that up to CON and flash defense and REC and such. A 3d6 NND may not be able to knock even weak opponents unconscious, though. You may need to go over 40 active points to more precisely model the spell.
  15. Re: The Flood: Part II - Stealing Skills "By the book"? 1.) Buy all the skills (and probably a bunch of skill levels) with a "only if the host has these skills" limitation. 2.) I think Mind Control allows you to force your host to use its skills. It also probably depends how you're modeling the possession.
  16. Re: Real World Stuff That Only Sounds Like A Comic Book No one's mentioned diamagnetic levitation yet?
  17. Re: Build me a power - Paralyzing Touch Extradimensional Movement: to dimension where target is paralyzed.
  18. Re: Duplication/Multiform Combo My first thought: buy Multiform and Duplication. Then put a limitation one or the other (or both?) worded something like "duplicates can't be in the same form, and can't change form". My second thought: buy Multiform. Buy Duplication with Lockout (can't use Multiform when Duplication is active). I'm not sure exactly what values the limitations should have.
  19. Re: A couple Questions from a (semi) old herophile I'm not sure anyone covered this point. It appears you might think that, with the 2-year 'subscription,' the program could stop working after 2 years. Fortunately, this isn't true; you just don't get any upgrades/fixes/whatever after that point. I'd think all the serious bugs would be worked out in 2 years. I, personally, am not buying v3, because I already have v2, haven't used that version much, and (or perhaps because) I'm not currently in a HERO System game.
  20. Re: Iron-Man Movie! I like Justin Hammer as the bad guy: good businessman vs. evil businessman. Plus, you can justify all sorts of costumed mooks for Iron Man to run up against. (Just open your OHOTMU to the B section and pick randomly ...)
  21. Re: best place to look for riding
  22. Re: Paintball Gun? Here's an odd thought; what if you made it a 1d6 opaque entangle? Then they might have to make some sort of action to clear away the paint (i.e., free themselves from the entangle) before they can see again.
