  1. I saw one with the Lone Ranger saying "Everyone should wear a mask.
  2. One of my adult kid's in isolation at my home with covid. Another of my adult kids had it, in my home, back in April. I think I had it from Christmas until the end of February but they didn't have a test for it back then. My wife was admitted to the hospital a few minutes ago. She has very severe breathing problems anyway and what she's experiencing now isn't any worse than she gets every couple of months. But they're keeping her because they want her close in case she dips suddenly or they get the covid test results back (no sooner than 2 days). If she has covid, they're going to immediately give her plasma from someone who's already recovered in hopes that their antibodies will help her. Very frustrating, on top of the anxiety, since we tried to take every precaution after we were pretty sure it would reach the US (masks, showers immediately upon coming home, clothes immediately in the laundry, no unnecessary contact with anyone at all). I'm one of those freaks who had a large box of masks in the back of my medicine cabinet just in case there might happen to be a pandemic someday and we took every reasonable (and some "unreasonable" precautions even before the experts said that they really were reasonable). I am looking forward to February since I'm sure that winter month will provide some relief.

  5. That's more than I had remembered.
  6. I like all the glorious messiness of the CU. I might have some more of the big world-beater threats (individuals and maybe organizations) actually conquer their own countries to help explain why they aren't out there trying to conquer the world every day. Once you get busy running a country, it probably dawns on you how much of a drag that trying to run a world would be. A couple of countries in Africa, a couple of countries in South America, a couple of countries in Asia, and a few island nations would cover it. Heck even with moderate power levels, you could conquer an island nation that no other country cares enough to defend. You could even have some nations invite in some powered person to take over to try to straighten out their messes. I might suggest something like that in wikiworld.
  7. VIPER sometimes as the punching bag for the evening, other times as a major threat. Fairly easy to do because there's so many different branches of the organization. UNTIL and PRIMUS in various roles both positive and negative toward the heroes. I've kind of wanted to do a "heroes as agents of a major organization" thing but making heroic things seem organized isn't my strong suit. DEMON though not necessarily getting around to using that name. GRAB, a long, long time ago. I don't recall using ARGENT. If a PC wants to link his backstory to some organization, fine. If he wants to take a Hunted from one, that's fine too if the player tells me how he got it and how he expects it come into the game (I don't necessarily agree with how the player expects it to come up but getting his feedback is nice). If multiple players want to take organization Hunteds, I might encourage them to put their head together and decide on the same organization rather than having two different organizations which play out similarly (like PRIMUS and the old SAT organization). Hostile organization Hunteds I tend to treat as there being a fairly organized effort to make the hero's life a living hell. He'll get trashed on social media, non-uniformed agents will direct reporters toward negative stories, he might get sued if he recklessly endangers the public, the agency might help put together victims with opportunistic lawyers. There's just no way to put an organization Hunted in at an 8- frequency into adventures and have them as "the villain of the day" so I look for other ways to incorporate the organization into the hero's life. By definition, an organization outnumbers an individual so there's going to be hundreds or thousands of people trying to think of ways to get at the hero. Some number of those ideas will take effect either in an official top-down sort of decision making in the organization or maybe just a group of low level flunkies who are ticked at getting beaten up trying to get petty revenge.
  8. Some supervillains take it personally when you misspell their names. You never know when there's going to be a cross-dimensional incursion so "better safe than sorry".
  9. Stupor Man - A WWII era soldier who used his temporary Immunity to Alcohol to win bar bets. After the war, he was alternately kidnapped and rescued by the Soviets, the CIA, various secret societies, and industry moguls who experimented on him trying to figure out how his power worked and to duplicate it. His power had the limitation that a day after he drank that the inebriation would come upon him to the same extent and duration that he would have been inebriated as he was drinking. Notably, as he was experiencing the inebriation, it appeared to be totally a psychological effect: no physical evidence of alcohol would be found in his breath or blood (so he would not succumb to alcohol poisoning no matter how much he drank). The exact origin of his power remained unknown as none of his kidnappers appeared to have ever broke the code. He made a marginal living trading on his fame by playing recurring roles as a drunk on TV shows or in movies and showing up as the celebrity on TV game shows. After his death, a government agency tried to get a court order to exhume his body for research citing nation security concerns. However, by the time they dug up the grave, they found only an empty coffin. That incident has led to Stupor Man's further fame as the mysterious disappearance of his body has been attributed variously to aliens, the Maffia, and governments around the world depending on the bent of the conspiracy website or cable TV show ...
  10. I think of a higher membership fee as incentive for the players to find a way to get into an exclusive place. I have this weird image in my mind of Bulldozer and Dr. Destroyer sitting close to each other in the dining room with the good doctor asking to look at the wine list as Bulldozer is downing one beer after another and asking the waitstaff if they have any unshelled peanuts. But I guess that weird juxtaposition of characters who you would not normally see together is kind of the point.of introducing the establishment...
  11. They did a book built around that concept in 3rd or 4th edition but I can't think of the name at the moment. Something like Neutral Ground, which was the name of a famous gaming store in New York in the 1990's. I like doing something like your concept. Places like the Adventurer's Club or the hotel from the John Wick movies should be a vital part of the community. Though I think the membership fees should be a bit higher to keep out the riff raff.
  12. Are we going to make the builds in 6th edition only or just build in whatever edition we're most comfortable with? I have access to 2nd-5th and Champions Complete which I think is sort of 6th edition lite from what I gather. I'm comfortable in 3rd or 4th in my head and can do 5th with a rulebook at hand. I'm not even sure what the differences are between Champions Complete and 6th.
  13. The ones that I tried 10+ years ago were totally inappropriate for my needs at the time. I believe WordPress was one of them. If you find one which is both easy and free, let us know.
  14. Goblin Queen, whether living or dead White Queen Emerald Empress? I think that's the name. The lady with the giant floating eyeball who battles the Legion of Superheroes. And the lady who replaced the Time Trapper...Gloria? Something like that.
  15. Assuming the limitation is a Side Effect, I would think the appropriate size of the limitation would vary wildly according to what kind of power, it's frequency of usage and how much STUN the character has. This is opinion, not necessarily the rules as written. If he's taking 1d6 STUN for turning on his 10 point vision enhancement power, it only happens once as he turns it on, and he's a brick character with an ungodly amount of STUN, I wouldn't give it more than -1/4 (if that). You could turn it on before leaving the house in the morning and recover before you get in your car. That's the kind of cheesy limitation I'd try to get away with as a player and argue that is should be -1/2 or more because of "rules as written" (or the GM's not understanding the rules as written, as the case may be in various editions). On the other extreme, if it is an energy projector character and it's his only attack, it might be -2 or more if he has a low amount of STUN like many starting-level energy projectors do. One good size shot and he's going to stun himself half the time or knock himself unconscious. The attack might as well have 1 charge and a side effect that the enemy does a high five every time you use it. For a movement power, I'd say the size of the limitation would vary based on how dependent the character is on that movement power. If it applies to all his running and he only has running and his base amount of jumping and swimming, he's going to take damage fairly often unless he has a teammate carry him everywhere or hops along very slowly. But if the limitation is on his superleaping and he rarely uses that power anyway, the player is going go out of his way to only use that power when the side effect doesn't really limit him. The Running example is pretty much always limiting the character while the superleaping example is rarely limiting. My 2 cents....
  16. Wikipedia lets people edit the wiki but the previous version of the wiki are automatically saved in wiki history files so that you can see the changes and reference previous versions easily if needed. I'm not sure how the mechanics of the wiki project are going to work but these forums don't seem to have that "automatically saving the history" functionality. We could in theory have some one person re-write the 1960's, for example, and accidentally or deliberately erase a couple of hundred hours of work from dozens of contributors. Maybe we should start by allowing people to add and let them propose what should be taken out or re-written in order to fit in with the existing reality rather than let anyone edit out anything or everything?
  17. That sounds great in theory. But having yet another thing to keep track of as a GM isn't appealing. And having another thing to gimp my spellcasting as a player isn't appealing to me either. But for anyone specifically looking for a way to simulate easily interruptible spells, you've come up with a straightforward and elegant solution.
  18. The wording of the poll seemed to indicate that I could make multiple choices so I clicked on both Protect and Wrath. When I submitted my choice, I was watching the poll. The vote for Protect stayed in place but the vote for Wrath disappeared as the screen was transitioning. Perhaps the poll is only accepting one choice, the first one in order, as being valid. And other people besides me have tried to select multiple adventures? If that's not what's happening then I'm stumped.
  19. More like I've had a lifetime of being massively unlucky in general and, ahem, am not particularly young. These days, I don't have much of a sense of balance and the floor being slightly unlevel or someone slightly brushing against me can send me reeling. Fortunately in public I visibly tremble uncontrollably and look like I'm about to fall over dead any moment so people either actively avoid me or ask if I'd like for them to get me some assistance. But I'd hurt my ribs and head repeatedly years before my balance went. Like they say, you have to either laugh or cry.
  20. Geez, take care of yourself. I've had serious head injuries that have hurt less than the times I've hurt my ribs.
  21. Wrath of the Seven Horsemen - definitely my top pick but I think I screwed up and voted for Serve and Protect in the poll. Very powerful villains with an artifact which can create either new heroes or villains (villains turn on the artifact and it more or less randomly rebuilds the target person both mentally and physically) . A GM should be able to fairly easily switch up who is the leader and have one of the women running the show if that's what the GM is looking for. Serve and Protect is great and I love the superhero team. But I think there's a lot more GM's looking for villains than looking for more heroes. (Even if you include those who are still looking for Morty, the Giant Green Jello Mold from the Planet Minimax.)
  22. Whether you got the math correct or not, thanks for the heroic effort in making the attempt. This is exactly why I was thinking that any planet which I designed would have Missile Deflection....
