How about a deaf person who is invisible to sonar?

People think she's just a normal deaf person but really sound waves just don't interact with the person at all, even with her ear drums.

But her powers only work correctly when she isn't wearing clothes since her clothes would reflect sound waves just fine.

With the anti-trust tear the current administration is on, I doubt they'll approve the sale: too many superhero comic books owned by one company.

Most people who are having a sale figure out before they start that you don't sell things by giving away a huge bundle of cash with each purchase. But apparently it took the Rockies at least one GM before it learned that lesson.

But I agree that was when the Rockies were eliminated from contention....

Just make it clear to your players that real-world attempts to make steel have been tried on this world over and over for centuries without any success.

So no, they aren't going to be able to "invent" a cheap steel alternative by the players reading the internet then their PC's miraculously having the same idea.

It'll save you a lot of arguments in the long run.

Also keep in mind, if you're making steel weapons/armor rare and difficult to obtain, you're making magicians who can do combat magic much more powerful in comparison.

Hi, got to make this quick. Been out of power since about 15 minutes after my last post however many days ago.

If you want TL:DR please go to the end to see my request.

A pipe burst in my ceiling however many days ago, been without water and electricity since then. Haven't been capable of cleaning up the mess and the company which way willing hasn't been able to tackle the job due to no generators available.

Finally after a long day of scavanging online and driving around in person, my wife scored us a hotel room which would take us and our cats.

Skipping over long ordeals between each paragraph.

Got to the hotel, checked in. Our room has no heat. Still a HUGE upgrade over what we'd been living in since we had plumbing and could take showers.

I spent a lot of time after getting to the hotel convulsing and when not doing that shaking like someone who has Parkinson's really badly due to my health conditions rather than from the cold. My wife was so busy with her back toward me that she didn't notice the convulsions or she'd been trying to get me to a hospital because that's not a normal part of my symptomology.

Anyway after midnight, the fire alarm went off so we donned our clothes, gathered purses, wallets, and pet carriers for our three cats and made for the door. I'd previously noticed there was a strong odor in the hall but nothing that smelled the slightest bit dangerous.

My wife and adult daughter got ahead of me because I forgot my rather large bag of medicine.

By the time I caught up with them instead of stopping in the lobby area or the adjacent dining room, they'd gone outside into the roughly 27 degree weather. A hotel employee caught me as I was passing and told me there was no emergency.

As I got outside I shouted at my family that everything was okay and to come back. My wife was hysterical because the pet carrier she had burst open and Baby, a house cat with zero outside experience had disappeared into the night.

Got to cut this shorter. My wife ended up falling on the ice/snow and hurting herself. An ambulance took her to the hospital alone while we continued the search.

My daughter who spends a lot of time in a wheelchair, and who was the one whose car flipped, wasn't able to continue long and she went back inside. My other daughter wasn't doing well in the cold but continued with me some time.

I rallied like a champ last night and spent over 4 hours outside searching. Caught a glimpse of Baby around 4 am under a car around the back of the hotel but she didn't appear interested in coming to me despite being four feet away and me having wet food for her on the ground in front of me when I saw her. Haven't caught a glimpse of her again.

The temp this morning has dropped another six degrees from what it was last night and the wind has picked up and is howling like a banshee. I went out and managed one round of the building and had to call it quits.

The hopital this morning couldn't find anything wrong with my wide despite the fact that she can no longer walk and kicked her loose. They after a heroic effort, managed to find a cab to bring her back to the hotel.\\

We managed to get her back to the room and into bed after a lot of effort. WE used the power chair which we keep in the van. If couldn't find traction on the snow but did okay after getting inside.

I sat for a while in the lobby and dining room area lookng out windows hoping to catch a glimpse of Baby.

I really need your thoughts and prayers in this because it's going to take a miracle at this point to get her to come to me. I'm going back outside in a moment to circle the building endlessly looking for her.

She's a beautiful Calico who's named after Dr. Tachyon's ship if that helps you focus your thoughts and prayers.

    Gotta go, Thanks.

People do variations on orcs for a variety of reasons.

The main reason in my opinion is that the orcish motivations are simple: they can use the stuff the humans make.

They need clothes, humans have clothes. They need jewelry, humans have jewelry. They need a sword, humans have swords.

Their needs overlap with human needs very neatly so it provides easy motivation for conflict.

The main problem with giants, they don't need the clothes or weapons which humans use. They can't live in human housing. They can't use human vehicles. They couldn't wear most human jewelry. They can't use horses except maybe for food.

I guess if the giants supported themselves through farming, they could compete for land. Or if they just raided for food, but it's less exciting to rescue the king's wagon load of wheat than it is bringing back rarer treasures.

It'd be rare for the PC's to kill a giant and find usable equipment. The clothes, rings, weapons, belts, shields just aren't going to be interchangable between the species.

If you're introducing giants as the main opponents but denying the PC's the opportunity to get usable stuff when they win a fight, that's something which could make a party restless unless they knew in advance that the campaign treasure was going to be sucky. Sure, a smith can always melt down oversized metal goods but the bulk rate return on selling scrap iron to a smith has got to be pretty crappy.

I had a friend a couple of decades back who lived in the Netherlands and couldn't understand why someone who lived in, say, the Dallas area couldn't easily get to the Houston area since it was in the same state.

Of course he was used to tiny Europe and being able to get to anywhere in Europe with a Eurail pass.

So I measured the longest end to end section of the Netherlands and started using that as my standard unit of measurement which I called "The Netherlands".

Dallas is many "The Netherlands" distant from Houston.

After I did that, he was annoyed but had a more instinctive understanding of the distances involved.

And in discussions of "why doesn't the US have an equivalent to Eurail so that you can go anywhere in the country on the train", I started pointing out that Amsterdam is closer to Baghdad than Miami is to Seattle.

There's no information about this product either on their own website or their YouTube channel (which consists of less than 2 minutes of video total).

This particular video is a series of clips strung together. If it is real and not a total fake, they deliberately didn't show a successful takeoff, sustained flight, and successful landing all in one flight.

For a flight vehicle with drone-type blades which we know works (can go back and forth, maneuver, etc. and can stay in the air for more than a few seconds), it takes ten blades the size of those.

Of course that device has got a minimal fuselage and a place where the pilot can sit.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, tired of being the only public face of the church, decided the church should host a huge festival celebrating all things Mormon. After all, things like Burning Man have been a popular yearly event for decades so a more godly Burning Man without an actual Burning Man sounded like a good idea.

The governing body of the church went along with the idea until the choir started selling t-shirts for the event.

The shirts read "This Is My Mormon Fest Destiny".

I used to read articles from American Magic the Gathering players on the Pro Tour as they traveled to Japan and struggled to find something which was at least vaguely edible between rounds and in the evenings after a grueling day of playing.

I also read the occasional article from a Japanese player on the Pro Tour in an American city having his adventures in American cuisine and snacks.

The impression I was given is that it's much easier for a Japanese person to adapt to American food than the other way around.
