  1. Re: Alternate Marvel Universe Peter Parker: After his beloved Uncle Ben was murdered by a robber, Peter applied his extensive (albeit still rudimentary) skill as an inventor to create a suit of reinforced armor. Now supported by the proceeds of his numerous household and medical patents, he goes out and fights crime as the Knight of Justice.

  3. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Personally, I've been trying to figure out how to Amalgamate Batman and the Thing.
  4. Re: Submitted for your approval: 10 too human aliens.
  5. Re: Physical Complication - Screen Writers Amnesia The story in the second VCR Clue game had a running gag where every time Sgt. Grey was hit in the head, he developed amnesia -- and then took on the persona of whatever he heard next. (That came in rather handy when the gang needed a telephone repairman.)
  6. Re: Funny locations for a Dark Champions game? You really should post these in the "genre crossover nightmares" thread.
  7. Re: Help Poplulate: Pirate Ship edition Big Bart was a mute before he boarded the ship, as attested by the large scar across his throat. He communicated his name by a note, and quickly showed that he was very capable of working as a deckhand. His heavily muscular 7'4" frame certainly helps. He's also proven himself very handy in a fight. He hits hard, his sword is half again as big as anyone else's, and he can literally toss a man across a room. He doesn't socialize with the rest of the crew -- even if he didn't prefer his solitude, his muteness is a serious barrier to conversation -- but he's always ready to help a crewmate out of a tight spot.
  8. Re: Funny locations for a Dark Champions game? If you really want something humorous, there's a small town in Oregon (a few miles southeast of Portland) called Boring.
  9. Re: Help Poplulate: Pirate Ship edition And one mustn't forget the ship's cook. There's plenty of innuendo that can be brought to bear if he's missing a leg.
  10. Re: Funny locations for a Dark Champions game? Are you speaking in terms of "in theory," or do you want actual stories? St. Louis comes to mind as a good example of a large city with no reputation for a crime problem. I've even seen a couple of TV episodes (though I don't recall which series) where that city was chosen for something specifically because nothing exciting ever happens there -- it's a city of quiet cul-de-sac neighborhoods. (In reality I'm sure St. Louis has no less of a crime problem, or at least not significantly less, than any other city of its approximate size. I'm speaking of its "story image" here.)
  11. Re: Let's Play "The Naming Game" No, just a pun, not nearly so fancy or prosaic. Nikki Z, Professor Z, Doctor Z... Dragonball Z. That's all.
  12. Re: One Sun, Many Sungods? Funny you should say that. Despite what I said above, most people in my fantasy world believe this.

  15. Re: One Sun, Many Sungods? In my fantasy world the gods are (or have) really good PR guys. They do much of what they say, but the stories are exaggerated. Using your example of the sun, I have the sun exactly like it is in the real world, but each sun god governs aspects of the sun as it pertains to life in their geographical region. The things they do that are attributed to being the sun are actually things they do to bring the sun's effects to that area. For example, if the sun is supposedly the Sun Father riding his chariot across the sky, then the Sun Father really does ride his chariot across the sky, making sure the sunlight reaches where it's supposed to, checking on the ozone layer, and so forth; it's just the stories he tells his priests about the chariot actually giving off the light. And sometimes it really does give off a bit of extra light, if that's called for. Sometimes gods with overlapping responsibilities cooperate, and sometimes they compete and fight, depending on their respective needs and desires.

  19. Re: CHAMPIONS BEYOND -- What Do *You* Want To See? I think these things are mostly fodder for things like Star Hero, Galactic Champions, and Terran Empire.
  20. Re: Let's Play "The Naming Game" She could kind of go back to her youth, at least in spirit, and call herself Gadget Woman. Or, for a more modern twist, Elegance (elegance is often a goal in technical design, and women who have "graduated" from being simple physical knockouts very often gain that as a personal quality).
  21. Re: CHAMPIONS BEYOND -- What Do *You* Want To See? Somebody else mentioned the Star*Guard. Having enough information in the book to play a Star*Guard campaign (even if that means using mostly home-brew villains) would be a big plus IMHO.
  22. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine What thinkest thou, XO?
  23. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine She looks like a good USA50 villain. Let's call her Black Falcon. Siobahn Duncan is a true mad scientist -- or, more accurately, a deeply disturbed engineer. She built her weaponized flight-suit, mostly copying others' existing patents that never really went anywhere (and there are plenty of those to go around), because she wanted to go out and get the adrenaline rush that comes from maiming and killing people. She works as a freelance debt collector and assassin in the Chicago area.
