    Cat and Mouse

This is the result of the media naming the duo. 'Look it's a mouse, so that must be the Cat !' and the names stuck. Although the Cat has no powers that are actually catlike. He projects energy and is a medium level brick (STR35 to 40). Why the mouse exists is not known although he is a decided benefit to Cat as he fights stronger and harder and with more determination even being more insightful in fighting crime.

The "sidekick" is the real hero, Mega Mouse. Mega Mouse is, in reality, a normal mouse who had his brain augmented with amazing mental powers, including mental illusions, and a android shell where his brain is incased.

He "creates" Alpha Man from his illusion casting abilities because nobody would accept an uplifted mouse's brain in an android body which appears kinda like a cartoon mouse as a serious superhero.

The big one is the supervillain Propagate, I've been looking for a clear picture of him for years. He's best known for the fact that his sonic blast waves gets more powerful the further they travel from him out to his maximum range.

He generally tries to start off combat by sniping from long range or does an area of effect attack from surprise. He's not exactly a pushover at close range, still quite formidable in fact, but he generally tries to work with a partner since close quarters combat isn't his forte.

I've not seen this most recent partner of his. Given the similar costume, I'd theorize that this might be the alternate universe Propagate from the Earth which Captain Profound discovered last year where all the intelligent inhabitants of the planet were variants of Earth animals.

If the appearance of this alternate Propagate indicates that a full scale breach between the universes has been found and exploited, this could be major trouble...I mean, it could be a big problem, not "it could be Major Trouble", the hometown hero of Buffalo, NY.

When Dick Meacham approached a UFO that had landed in his cornfield, it suddenly shot upward and vanished into the distance.  The after-effect of its warp propulsion unit bathed him in strange, alien energies, endowing him with the ability to manipulate energy fields for offense and defense.  A short while later he was contacted by Rollinhex, an intelligent bipedal mouse from the planet Valthoras, who could run and fly at super speed.  Rollinhex--"Rollie" for short--invited him to join The Avatars, an interstellar organization of superbeings dedicated to protecting the universe from the forces of evil.  Meacham was given a costume, and Rollie became his training officer, teaching him how to use his newfound powers, when to use maximum force--and when not to--and the intricacies of investigation and interstellar police work.  Meacham isn't sure what to make of his new life--he was perfectly satisfied being a farmer and leaving all the super-battles and the weirdness to the "big cities."  For his part, Rollie is annoyed by the Terrans' inability to take him seriously--but he's just so darn cute.

Here is a simple drone that we worked up for our Dark Champions Campaign.  Keep in mind we use Segmented Movement in the campaign so the move is different.  This one doesn't have a microphone but it can be easily added.

Ryze Drone:  Clairsentience (Sight Group), Mobile Perception Point (can move up to 100m per Turn), Telescopic:  +2 (36 Active Points); OAF Fragile (-1 1/4), 4 clips of 1 Continuing Charge lasting 20 Minutes (Increased Reloading Time: 1 Turn; Drone Must Return to User to Replace Clips; -3/4), Concentration, Must Concentrate Throughout Use of Constant Power Or Limited To Specific Path (1/2 DCV; -1/2), Requires A Roll (Drone Piloting Skill Roll; -1/2), Radio Controlled Device (Requires Controller and Drone To Operate; May Be Jammed Or Hacked; -1/2), Sense Affected As Sight And Radio Groups [any other Sense] (-1/4), Limited Range (100m; -1/4), Normal Sight Only (Drone Provides Night Vision; -1/4)

The value proposition of Cover is to take a hostage or get someone to yield instead of having to kill them.

I agree the rules around it could use some tweaking, but it's a dramatic tool.

The classic, "Drop your weapon or I splatter Susan's brains all over the vault door!  You, bank manager, start opening that thing now!"

In super heroic situations this allows a grossly inferior opponent (for them) to be a real threat.  Sure, Robert the Robber, is no match for InvincoLad, but the potential death of an innocent might be.

Crimson Phoenix snarled at his fallen foe, the blood still dripping from his sword.  "Nobody, and I mean nobody, tries to screw me in a deal."  He ripped a length of cloth from the dead DEMON Morbane's robe and wiped the worst of the blood off the sword.  His own wounds were already healing at an incredibly fast rate.  He had gotten so used to his ability to regenerate that he didn't even notice it any more.  Ever since he had come back from supposed death a decade before, he trusted that nothing could truly harm him for long.

The DEMON initiates had fled while Phoenix was shrugging off the Morbane's magical attacks and slicing the back-stabbing jerk to pieces, but he didn't want to stick around any longer than necessary.   The authorities just might show up to investigate all the weird lights in the night sky, and Phoenix didn't want to have to slice his way through a couple cop cars to get them to leave him alone.  As Crimson Phoenix reached back to sheath his sword, he felt a pain in the middle of his back and winced.  That's right, he thought.  The Morbane had literally stabbed him in the back, and he never had pulled the dagger loose during the fight.  It took a swing or two with the sword to knock the dagger free, and it fell to the ground with a clatter.

Shaking his head, he walked over to the stone altar and picked up the small oxyx skull DEMON had hired him to procure.  "I wonder what the heck DEMON wanted with you," he said, then shrugged indifferently and dropped it into his leather shoulder satchel.  "Whatever it is, I'll bet I can find someone else willing to pay me for you."  With that, he strode off into the night.

Relating to the Clairsentience, you may want to include Mobile (e.g. automobile dash cams) and possibly Multiple Perception Points (if he can cycle through different camera views).

Also a suggestion:  Retrocognition, with appropriate Limitations, representing the character pulling up stored audio/video footage from said camera / sensor.  This might need to be done as a partially limited power, and I have no idea how that might be done.

The Champions Powers book lists Only through Cameras and Listening Devices as a -1/2 Limitation.

And technically, I think you'd need to possess any enhanced senses that a camera or sensor had before you could use it through the Clairsentience (even Nightvision).  Sentry's idea of a VPP is an excellent idea, IMO.  (You'll need GM permission since Special Powers like Enhanced Senses can't normally go into a Power Framework like a VPP, but I think having the Limitation that it only mimics the camera/sensor you're looking through keeps it from being abusive.)

I'm continuously amazed that such people will simultaneously acknowledge that our government is full of incompetent morons, many of whom keep getting caught with their pants down (often literally), while also believing that said incompetent morons are somehow capable of putting together and maintaining an intricate, hush-hush conspiracy.

I'd do a facepalm that would be heard around the globe, if the Earth wasn't actually flat.

I think you can simplify this a bit by starting with Clairsentience as your base power with a limitation that it only works through cameras/sensors.  I personally would give it 1/4 or maybe 1/2 limitation value if anything given the relative ubiquitous nature of sensors in our world today, let alone the near future.

Strictly speaking, Clairsentience doesn't provide you with telescopic or microscopic vision.  Perhaps a small VPP would make sense in this scenario.  One that only works with your Clairsentience and only to mimic the sensor you're looking through.

One of the paintings is of the cover of the first copy of Alarums and Excursions.

The next painting over is of the cover of Danger International.

The next painting is the cover of a first edition copy of Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.

The next is "It Came From Below".

I mean, the warnings are way more specific than anything the house has come up with before and are really impressive considering the clues were thought up by a house. But the heroes are probably going to focus on the "excursions" part of Alarums and Excursions rather than the alarm part. And focus on the "International" part without considering that another dimension is international. Not realize that something wicked coming this way is coming to this exact point in space rather than "coming" in general. And not realize that it came "from below" means from down in the basement.

Of course afterward, they'll feel like idiots for not figuring it out because the clues were so much on the nose.

You can go back to more vague clues after this adventure. The dimensional portal in the basement has been leaking enough magical energy that it temporarily boosted the house's intelligence so that it could give better clues than normal. Once the heroes close that up, things should return to normal.
