  1. Earth probably has a ridiculous amount of Damage Negation versus any attack with less than the +2 level of Mega Area.
  2. I think it would be best to explicitly use one of the existing CC licenses (probably CC BY-NC-SA), so we don't get ambushed by some schmuck with a lawyer who thinks he can appropriate the material that's in the wiki because the terms in the license were vague. It may also protect Hero Games if The Mouse decides that one of the characters posted is a little too close to something they've published.
  3. It might be useful to look at the problem from the other end - what, "attacks" has the Earth survived? The biggest one coming to mind is the Chicxulb Impact. This was estimated at between 10^24 and 5*10^25 joules, which works out to 86 DC (if I've done the math right). While that devastated the biosphere, it wasn't even close to enough to destroy the planet.
  4. The ranges are deliberately vague. Feel free to explain your choice in the comments. I'm going with modern because it allows the world to feel familiar, without requiring explanation of why all these super-gadgets and strange powers haven't greatly affected history.
  5. OK, I want to get this out there so I can stop thinking about it before bed. One cubic meter of stone has 19 BODY. Assume that doubling the volume adds 5 BODY. Earth has a volume of ~10^21 cubic meters. That is about 70 doublings, which gives us 369 BODY for Earth. Figuring out how much Damage Negation Earth has is left as an exercise for the reader.
  6. Setting the IP issues aside for the moment... In this setting, have superpowers always existed (at least, since the 1930s), or did they develop more recently?
  7. Losing their IP rights will discourage people from participating. I'm on board with authors submitting their work under a Creative Commons license (probably CC BY-NC, which allows for redistribution for non-commercial purposes only). Hero Games would have to negotiate a seperate license if they wanted to publish it as a commercial product, but the original author would be able to do whatever they wanted.
  8. I had a martial artist who owned a dojo. He didn't need to be there all the time, or on a regular schedule, but if he was absent too much he would have problems. This would probably work with other small, independent businesses as well. A YouTube channel sounds like a good way to monetize being a hero.
  9. OTOH, public mask use in CT seems to be near 100% (at least in my usual shopping).
  10. I use Hero Designer most of the time, but I'll use pencil and paper if I'm at a session and not at a computer.
  11. China is more than happy to see the US weakened. Why should they interfere to elect a man likely to strengthen the US?
  12. There is a character conversion guide here, but it's rather scant.
  13. With the biggest rolled-up newspaper in the universe.
  14. Add my name to the list of people who think this would be unnecessary. I see AoE and UBO as fundamentally different, even if (in some scenarios) the effect is similar. With AoE, the original user is the only one with the power, even though it affects an area. With UBO, the recipients actually possess the power. This distinction is most clear with Attack powers.
  15. It's better than Fisty McFistface.
  16. I was specifically discussing powers without Limitations. I guess the context got lost.
  17. I don't think that -1 is enough of a penalty to really bite. The standard deviation of 3d6 is (IIRC) 2.96, so a -3 penalty gives the players real incentive to take the sub-skills.
  18. I like the idea of keeping the sub-skills as a toolkit option. If it's used, you take a -3 penalty if you don't have an appropriate sub-skill at at least a Familiarity. (KS: Deserts for a Survival roll in the Sahara, for example.)
  19. Well, yeah, you can act before him and prevent him from acting. I'm not sure if that counts as an interrupt for purposes of this thread, though. You could hit him and still not do enough damage to Stun or KO him.
  20. As others have said, it will depend on how you want your magic system to work. Concentration, Gestures, and Incantations all have rules for interrupting Powers with those Limitations. You could use Limited Power: Interruptible (-0) to give the same effect without any of the other drawbacks. Barring any of those (or similar) Limitations, the only way to interrupt a spell is for the interrupter to have an appropriate Dispel, with a held action. It's important to remember that Hero is a toolkit system. The game mechanics for Pulsar's power blasts and Talisman's Hellfire are the same (Blast, 12d6). You can't interrupt Talisman just because, "It's magic."
  21. I have noted elsewhere that 5e and 6e seem to suffer from excessive granularity in skills. I have a list of proposed changes, cutting the list by about a quarter.
  22. I've thought about this, only my thought experiment had the President transferring some blue states to a less benevolent country (Russia, China, etc). I realized that this would have to happen by treaty, which would require approval of 2/3 of the Senate. I stopped worrying about it after that.
