I saw on this board a while back someone was thinking about doing a campaign based in Larry Niven's Dream Park. I was wondering whether they ever wrote that up and whether they would make the info available to me. I was considering a Dream Park inspired campaign. I can make my own, I suppose, but I would appreciate it if someone had this info at their fingertips and could help me out. That way I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. Thanks.

And now for something rather strange. I've recently been watching some episodes of the anime series Galaxy Angel and i was wondering what sort of Star HERO fodder could be found there. Of course, I was thinking more in terms of character design problems than campaign fodder, because Galacy Angel doesn't really have a coherent setting. The basic premise is that the five-member all-girl Angel Brigade is seeking the Lost Technology -- and taking all kinds of odd jobs in the meantime. The central characters are: Milfuielle: A late-teenage girl and the newest recruit. She has no particular combat or science skills, but she has inconcievable luck. She is also incurab…

another of my design ideas, this one is more out of my demented mind than anything else, its based on a cruiser hull, and designed for strikes and raiding dut y but not for solo raids one thing I have been doing with these ships is trying to add a few quirks and things, no design is perfect, everything has little glitches, and I try and add a little color to the designs

Vampire Wars for Terran Empire

This an idea that's been bouncing around my head since I saw the Sci-Fi channel original movie "Bloodsuckers" where several breeds of vampires plagued the galaxy enough to warrent going to war. Several times characters mention about the vampires wars, and veterans there of. The crew appeared to be professional vampire hunters as well. I apologize if I've forgotten some details as this was a couple of weeks ago. What got me thinking was how creating an artificial strain of vampirism would be perfectly in line with the Xenovores. Either as a lesser known war that happen around the main Xenovore wars or as an ongoing campaign of genetic terrorism by the survivors.…

Artist's conception of our Galaxy, viewed from "above". More and more people seem to be joining the barred spiral bandwagon. Click on the image there and you'll get a wallpaper-worthy version. Click on the "this artist's illustration" link in the image caption on the linked page and you'll see where in the picture we fit. Very briefly, 6 o'clock from the center, between the spiral arms # 2 and 3, counting outward. No, I don't have a good handle on what it'd be like to traverse the "bar" in a starship, whether it'd be different at all from any other part of the galaxy. I'll have to think about that. (In general, if you're in a large galaxy, you never…

this design was inspired by coverage of events in the gulf in the last week, was looking at the capabilities of the Bataan and the Iwo Jima LHA's, ships that were designed to supply support for amphibious operations and such, and the design started by taking the ideas laid forth in STK for the Normandy, but based on a larger hull, these ships carry a squadron of fighters, shuttles, and a mixed company of tanks.

Atmosphere 1 2

I was wondering how the various homebrew Star Hero games out there explain artificial atmosphere. I am debating between a super-tech dome or terra forming the planet ala Firefly. It will be for a huge military installation on Pluto's Moon, and a hudson city clone on the surface of Pluto. Dome seems more sci-fi but I can see it being a huge weakspot for the installation. Punch one hole and there goes everything. Any other ideas, or comments?

So I'm starting up a new Star Hero campaign, sort of Firefly and Traveller-esque, and was wanting to read some books for inspiration and feel. I have some books on my list to read (currently in the midst of the Honor Harrington series), but figured I'd see if anyone had any good suggestions I hadn't heard of already. Basically I'm looking for books with a specific feel. Not necessarily military sci-fi like Harrington, but certainly something where starships play an important role. I generally don't read spinoff books, (i.e., books based on TV series or movies, like Star Trek, Star Wars, B5), but if people know of specific books of this type that are good, feel free to…

Okay. So with the release of the TravellerHERO pdf I am thinking about running a Traveller game. However, I haven't looked at Traveller since....well....a long time. MegaTraveller I think. So, what do you think of what they are calling Traveller 4th edition. I got the main book...where are the alien species made up? Second, I saw on the FutureNet website the books offered. Nice, but the books are a little pricey for me right now. Basically I would like to see where I can get some information on the aliens in Traveller. What books do I need?

Hiya, folks. Just had a little question: What is the average density of a nebula? Or the interstellar medium? Or the solar wind? I got a reading on the density of a planetary nebula, at 1,000 particles per cubic centimeter - and those clouds are pretty dense compared to the others (at least I think so . . .) Anyone? Bueller?

"Welcome to the Starship Schematics page. It's dedicated to the sole purpose of archiving every single starship design ever conceived in the Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, and Space Battleship Yamato (A.K.A. Star Blazers) Universes, both official and unofficial, interesting and mediocre. "As far as I know, no such attempt has been made either in print or digital formats to build as complete a collection as I intend to. I am continuously updating vessels from all the different mainstream Trek races and organizations: Tholian, Gorn, Kazon, Maquis, etc, along with the other Sci-Fi genres mentioned above. So keep coming back!" http://www.shipschemat…

For the sake of the new message forums, this is just an FYI that I've started working on Hero stats for the Babylon 5 Universe. I've set up a web site at: http://www.aroooo.com/rpg_stuff/b5/index.php for those interested. I'll keep this thread posted on updates as they come out. Aroooo

I know this probably belongs in NGD, but hell... how many of us got started in SF or gaming or just grew up watching Star Trek Goodbye Scotty... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050720/ap_on_en_tv/obit_doohan The Emperors Own Imperial Marine Pipe and Drum Corps Plays Amazing Grace in tribute my all time favorite Scotty Quote comes from Trouble with Tribbles, when he has to explain to Captain Kirk why the bar fight with the Klingons started "They insulted you captain, I mean we can take a few insults, but when they called the ship a garbage scow... it was a matter of pride Captain"
