There is a short text in Star Hero about alternate histories, but as far as I know that is all that Hero Games has done in that area. Are there any more information on another place? Has anyone of you as ideas about alt. history campaigns you want to share? I found these pages that might be of interest: The Alternate History Travel Guides! Today In Alternate History

I have been reading through MM&M, the Fantasy HERo creatures book, a lot recently, and it occured to me that with only a very little tweaking many of the creatures would work as Star HERo aliens. This was porbably deliberate on the part of the folks at Hero. I wonder how many of the creatures struck the general readership of the boards as alien material, in addition to their value as fantasy creatures. Rootlings in particular seem so utterly alien that they would be right at home on forest moons, Drakine space cruisers could be adversaries for the Human Space Navy, etc.

I was working on making two PC for some people that are new to the Hero System and I came to the following question. Should a power suit for a hero level game be made as an OIF or as a Vehicle? Dose it matter? The first PC will spend most of his time in the Suit. It will supply life support and a few other things. The suit will respond right away (be more of an extension of the PC) and be closely connected to the PC I thought the suit would be best modeled as an OIF/Durable/very difficult to replace. The second PC was going to have a power suit as well but it was going to be more of a combat suit mec about 1.5 x the height and twice the width of the PC. Th…

Has anyone ever run a campaign in Larry Niven's Known Space? Just wondering if someone had Hero stats and backgrounds for any or all periods of this series.

Anyone know any good freeware software to create starship deck plans? I know this was a topic of conversation a while back and someone mentioned Cosmographer Pro from Pro Fantasy. I've got Campaign Cartographer Pro 2 and well, I'm not too happy with it so a bit wary of purchasing Cosmographer. Anyone use this/have a review of it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yo folks, I'm messing around and decided to create The Thing (the monster from the 1982 John Carpenter film based off the old John Campbell story "Who Goes There?) Any ideas from the Hero fans on the boards?

Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone has ever converted MP to Hero, or if they know where a conversion exists. Years ago, an old gaming buddy of mine first introduced me to Hero system by playing MP converted to that system. It was great and I would love to play/run a game again. Thank you... take care and be well, Grymour

Hello all, I'm looking to let a jedi have an R2 unit as a follower(this is a superheroic campaign). I'm having trouble keeping the point cost...acceptable. Anyone have a cheap R2 variant out there?(Less than 200 points is what I'm gunning for.) Rob

Have a look at this: It's the first bit of my Fantasy Hero/Star Hero genre bashing thing I call Exodus. Exodus has been around for a while, but I'm revising all my stuff, and it's just time to do this one. It's just a few worlds, and I need thoughts. Would you, if you were a player in this game, want more detail, or are the paragraphs and kickin' graphics enough? Enough detail on physical data? Green font too much? http://www.geocities.com/jephkay@sbcglobal.net/destinations.htm Thanks in advance for your input.

How would you build a Tissue Compression Eliminator (the Master's grisly calling-card weapon) in Hero? And is it something you would want to make the Matser pay points for? The latter is as much a question of how you wopuld run a Doctor Who campaign in HEro than anything else. Should the Doctor have to pay for the TARDIS and his Sonic Screwdriver? Would you make Leela pay points for her Janus Thorns? Is the Time Lord GIft woth making everyone who travewls in time pay for Universal Translator?

I just wanted to provide the players at Hero with a fun new tool. Hope you guys can use it... I originally made it for a 2004 tournament. I recently dug it up to use in a new Hero Star Wars game we just started. Worked GREAT!!! It has a key, but I'll let you fill out the details on your own. ENJOY!!!

Quick Disclaimer, I know there has been plenty of material here and elsewhere put out on Star Wars. Besides wanting to start up a Ninja Hero campaign I'm thinking about running a Star Wars Hero campaign. What I was wanting to do is make the Force a talent (call it 'Strong with the Force') that a player has to purchase for maybe 15 character points. Then from there the player can purchase specific powers catagorized under Light or Dark side powers. Then after purchasing so many powers and putting so many points into the specific power and putting so many points into you skill with the power (CSLs etc.) you would rise in rank (padowan (sp?), Jedi, Jedi knight, Jed…

My gaming group (who had either been playing HERO in the form of CHAMPIONS or FANTASY HERO for some time or were total HERO novices) got a bit of a shock when they played in my last scenario having been used to the weapon/armour stats in the rulebooks: I went for something just a little less 'cinematic' by not compressing weapon and armour values as is the norm. See the look of joy ( ) on the player's faces when their Light Combat Armour was 25PD/25ED, hardened against all archaic weapons; see their look of horror ( ) when a bad guy hit one of them with an AP round from an ETC (Electrothermal-Chemical) Assault Rifle and I calmly told the victim that it was 6D6 AP R…

I got some great input for starship engine design for my Alternity Hero conversion. Now I would like to pick the forums collective brains for ideas on how to model a couple of other things in Alternity. 1. Weapons in Alternity are scaled as to the damage they inflict depending on how well the hit roll succeeds. For example, a Render Rifle's damage is listed as d6+1s/d6+1w/d4+1m. What this means is that on an ordinary hit (just barely made the roll) the weapon does 1d6+1 stun only damage. On a good hit (rolled better then marginal but not a critical) the weapon does 1d6+1 wound damage (this would be a normal damage roll in hero). And finally if the hit roll is …

I'm reading the book Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian (the one the movie is partially based on, very partially) and generally have found it to be a pretty good book with amazing (and incredibly anal) levels of detail about how those ships during late 17th century worked, lived and fought. One of the most interesting aspects is that the main ship in the book The Sophie, while nominally under the auspices of the British Royal Navy is actually a captured ship crewed by sailors given minimal pay and stores. The ship is expected to go out and get themselves "prizes" (enemy cargo ships) and then drag those back to port and be paid for them as their real way of earning mo…

Hey all, I'm just toying around with some Star Hero ideas right now, and I'm trying to think of a good backdrop for a campaign. I really like the Terran Empire books, and I'll likely go with a lot of those, but I'm thinking of "flavouring" the text in one direction to give the campaign a specific feel. the thing is, I need help just bouncing ideas and coming up with the 'why's. The biggest, of course, being "why is this crew on this ship"? Now, here's what I have so far: a) I don't want a tech driven game, but I do want a lot of action. Therefore, the galaxy is seen as a more dangerous place where basic knowledge of which end of a blaster pistol to ho…

the new Daleks have some capabilties that are not normally associated with Daleks (they could probably always do these things, but the budget did not permit). These include: 1. A force field powerful enough to repel bullets. 2. The weapon being able to fire different types of energy blasts for different occasions, most ntoably electocity (it kills dozen of men with one shot by sretting off the spinkelrs, taking off, and firing an electroc shock into the sopping wet floor stong enough to electrocute everyone in the room). 3. Actual flight (apparently it takes a lot of power, so it could only do it for limited times, but it's a great way around the stair prob…

I had a warped idea... I was thinking about posting a new starship design a week for a while, and opening it for discussion... or a new vehicle... I want to see more of both, and more colorful designs good idea? bad idea? silly idea? I will start the ball rolling and keep going until somebody tells me to stop or theres no real interest

I've only watched the pilot episode and it has alrealy got me thinking about a Star Hero campaign based on it. Has anybody else done any work on this concept? Once I get a chance to watch the rest of the DVDs I might even think about it. But I am lazy at heart so if someone else has already done the legwork I'd be interested in taking a look at it.

I have Terrian Empire (which I love), but was dismayed by a couple of things-- and I'm hoping I just overlooked them. First, for the prices of items not specifically listed in TE, I had a buy the Star Hero book for 1 chart: the one that says, it's the real points times X for this type, etc. That's $$ for one chart that I wish I had pirated. Second, I have yet to find a suggestion for starting credits to buy equipment. Dark Champions had the nice X amount of kit, and X * 1.5 for starting armory. Is it in there? If not, what amount works? Third, the mechanics for psions in T.E. doesn't seem to be in the Terran Empire book. I think I found it in the Sta…
