I've made a wiki page on my site for storing links (and possibly articles) related to the Hero System. I've put in the "Science Fiction Web Resources" thread that I posted earlier, and will trawl threads for other links and things http://www.curufea.com/hero/

My players have expressed interest in doing a Star Wars game after our fantasy campaign ends. This of course brought on the sense of wrongness that I have felt about every Star Wars RPG and adaptation. The main thing that is WRONG is the lightsabers. They keep presenting them as weapons that do damage. Having just watched all six movies I can certainly say that lightsabers do not "do damage". Lightsabers have one of 3 possible effects against a human sized foe. Death. Limb removal (which comes without any actual damage, since the limbs are removed cleanly and bloodless every time). Miss. Every RPG version of Star Wars I have seen has inst…

The other night the characters in my Jedi Academy campaign finally became Jedi when they found crystals and constructed their own lightsabers. One of the players rolled a natural 3 to create his lightsaber and I have been trying to think of some special bonus that I might give his lightsaber for that roll. Anyone have any cool suggestions? Here is what a lightsaber is in my campaign Jedi Lightsaber: 3d6+1 HKA; AVLD (Combat Luck, or any Defense Power based upon being missed; +1½), Does Body (+1), 0 End Cost (+½), OIF (Lightsaber; -½), Strength Does Not Add to Damage (-½), Causes No Bleeding (-½), Real Weapon (-¼), Limited by Energy Fields (-¼). EP 50,…

I have this idea inspired by DAZ.com... a bioroid designed to work with a variety of military hardware. For example: Series Lares Loci is able to psionically connect with local defensive computer systems, operate home security and is basically the perfect "Guardian bioroid." Series Minerva is a real renaisance woman. A female-only bioroid series designed to interface with electronics of all kinds via hyper-stimulation of the premotor cortex with superluminal tachyonic fields (or whatever) they can process information far faster than normal humans. They wear specialized computers designed to resemble the latest fashions, on Earth and Centauri, they are the…

I was curious, has anyone ever made up a master PER chart for SH? This is mainly for ship sensors, determining PER modifiers for planets, objects, ships (based on SIZE?), spacial anomolies, etc? -HM

Okay, I've got this embryo of an idea for a campaign, and cruel as I am, I thought that I would let it out in the world for people to pass judgement upon . . . Okay, this is far into the future. Really far. Really, really far. Even further. The moon was lost long ago. Earth has seen so many interstellar empires come and go that it has lost count. Now the planet is a wasteland, with virtually no natural resources except the ruins and scrapheaps of past civilizations. Humankind is reduced to bands of nomadic savages, trying to eek out a living in a hostile environment - and the deserts keep growing, and strange monstrosities from beyond the stars haunt the wild places.…

Asked similar question on Champions but didnt get much response. But seeing as Star Hero is more appropriate I'll try again. So I was wondering if anyone had ever done any speculation of V'Ger (voyager space probe) for Star Trek: The Motion Picture following the events of the movie. Like where it went, what it did, possible powers, etc. Heck, even possibly what it may have looked like after merging with a human.

I have been running an SGC campaign for about a month now going on 2 and im having it set in the same continuity as the show is now with General O'neill (2 l's) and before the show picks up this coming season. I know where i want my team to go, fight, meet, etc... but i have been having a bit of trouble with creating "villains" that are going to be a good match for my pc's but without being push overs. Right now i have a PC that wrote up a sniper thats a bad a$$ and the jaffa that i ran by them last week (10 to 12 jaffa to 5 pc's) (2 were busy setting up the "BIG GUN" it was a good test of their characters but i feel it was a bit easy . I was reading on this board a few…

When I finally put my notes for a TARDIS into Hero Designer, that also resulted in me finding my notes on how to build a Time Lord character; I thought I'd share, and also ask for opinions. First, most Time Lords that we've seen have such a wide variety of skills & knowledge that it would be impractical (to say the least) to try and define/buy them all before play begins. Thus: 20 Universal Scientist (INT roll) - The character has at least a basic understanding of most sciences, even the most obscure. A successful USc roll will reveal what particular science is used in/by a given device or the basic principles and ideas of a given field of science. A roll ma…

G'day It just occurred to me that setting up tech for an SF RPG campaign is more like doing the same for a successful sci-fi TV franchise than for a more limited thing like a SF novel. The example in point is the 'variable sword' in Larry Niven's 'Known Space' books: a monomolecular filament stiffened by a stasis field, and which will cut through anything except GP hull material, which is monomolecular. You can thow away a thing like that in a novel (especially as an item of small significance), and people won't realise the implications until they have finished. But you have your royalty by then, so who cares. Let that sort of nonsense get past the continui…

If you ever saw/read Wayne Douglas Barlowe's book EXPEDITION then you might want to tune in to see this: http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/alienplanet/alienplanet.html The examination of a really alien world. I dunno if I will get to see the TV show, but I want to get the DVD already.

Based on Nyrath's recent "Getting Rid of the {tech}" thread and the writeup for my Champions team's starship, I thought I'd post the systems diagnostic diagram Blackjack and I came up with. This is a work in progress and may end up color coded, incorporating Hit Location tables, or some such, but the current version works pretty well. The ship got its first combat under its belt last weekend and performed just as I'd hoped (2 8d8 RKA's from fighters knocked the shields down 43% as they dodged through the asteroid field.). Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Hi there. I've recently begun converting to HERO, and I've been mulling about the following: How might one handle PCs who are entirely informorphs--not characters in a simulated environment, but utterly nonphysical AIs?

Are there any Hero writeups anywhere of the Star Trek original series characters? How about TNG or DS9 characters as well?

Out of plain curiosity, I ran a search of the boards for Neon Genesis Evangelion Eva stats and came up with... nothing. Given the number of HERO players out there who live for generating statistics for various characters, items, etc., I have to say that I'm a bit surprised. Does anyone out there have a write-up for one of the 400-foot-tall, nigh-invulnerable behemoths? (BTW, it's not like I need it for a game or anything. I'm just interested in seeing some people's takes on the Evas)

Anyone out there have a write up for this? I got the Cyclones and Alphas from the Star Hero Fandom site (good work on that by the way!). Only thing is I couldn't find the CVR-3 listed anywhere. Could use the help! Thanks!

Here is a link by a futurist speculating on what a future transhuman being might be like. I thought I'd toss it out just to see what people thought of it. Trying to build it using the HERO system would be pretty tricky. My main concept is how you would build the mind of a being which has a multitrack awareness, able to multitask mentally at once. Not to mention trying to guess what the INT score of that entity would be.
