Blue
Re: Superhero Images A good thought on the Neurons thing. A woman who turns men into heaps of jelly? Whoda thunk? I guess the friction thing came to mind because of the hood (pulled down in the pic) and how it reminds me of a speedskater. I picture her moving around like Frozone from The Incredibles. I'm still working on Bridge and it's driving me crazy. Aside from the scar I can't picture her yet so I've got a bunch of drawings that have nothing to do with one another in concept. Blue
Re: Superhero Images Finally! Here's Bridge. I just had to simplify. No mask, no goggles, no veil, no padding. She's not a hero as far as she's concerned so her clothes should be a little more conventional, if not a little fashionable.
Magmarock
Re: Superhero Images Testing Elfwood art page: Che-tah Mags EDIT: Well that worked. Sort of. I suppose I could use my Elfwood site, the only problem being that you have to wait sometimes weeks before they post your submission to the page. It's an option. Thanks, Trencher, for that reminder. Sean Waters
Re: Superhero Images Have no idea if this will work as I have not tried uploading images before, but...Laydeeeeeeeeeeez and Gentlemen, I give you Hurricane and Spitfire. Hurricane has force wall, flight and TK 'hard air' powers. Spitfire has...well guess. The we have Tank, a brick despite appearances, Fae, a faerie sorceress and Reach who has stretching powers and an off colour sense of humour. That is correct, fuzzy sir. And for those who don't use it, it looks something like this... <img height=300 src="http:// (your URL here)"> Mine tend to be narrow and tall. The two above I think I set by width to 130 pixels, rather than by height.
Guest bblackmoor
Re: Superhero Images If possible putting the height attribute helps most browsers save that screen real estate for when the picture loads. This is true, and generally speaking it's a good practice to do so, but in a forum like this it doesn't really matter, so I was trying to make it as simple as possible. This is easier than resizing the pics in photoshop first... which is my standard practice and leads to me having 2 or 3 files of each pic in varying sizes. As for posting them here, I usually go for 400 pixels. Cheers, Mags

As for posting them here' date=' I usually go for 400 pixels.[/quote'] Setting the image size in the tag is not a replacement for making a smaller thumbnail. Part of the reason for creating a thumnail is to reduce the filesize so that the page downloads faster: if you just set the height and width smaller, the image that gets downloaded is still the full size image, meaning that everyone who views the page the image is on will have to download the full size image even if they would not have clicked on the thumbnail to see the full size image. Kind of rude, actually. Also, depending on the browser and the color depth of the image, the browser-resized image may look really, really bad, and there is absolutely nothing you can to about it. This is most evident on images with a limited color palette. If you want to be considerate of other web users, and if you want to make sure that your thumbail does your full-size image justice, you need to create a real thumbnail. In the example I gave a few posts back, I just linked to the thumbail image that the gallery script creates automatically. When I am creating thumbnails by hand, I typically crop the original picture down to about half its original size, and then resize that down to about half of its original size. So a 400x600 image would have a thumbnail around 100x150.

As for posting them here, I usually go for 400 pixels. Cheers, Mags Yeh, I've got an 10mb size limit on that particular site, so I typically have one pic (sort of medium to small sized). Then I used the Height or Width tags to resize the posted pic. It's still loading at the full size, but it's showing it to you smaller, so it doesn't save on the load time for the page, it just takes up less real estate until you click on it (which is more of what I am aiming for on my own webpage). Of course, if the picture is ever pulled/lost/etc., you end up with a vey tall&skinny 'blank spot', with the red "X" way up at the top. Looks weird as heck.
