Wendy Carlos' controversial and enormously popular electronic-classical album Switched-On Bach. When it came out she (who was then a he, at least technically) was called a blasphemer by many music critics. Her counter-argument was that a Bach who lived in the 20th Century would have used the Moog synthesizer himself (as in his lifetime he had embraced new instrument technologies like the clavier, which was a forerunner of the modern piano). This was sort of like Falco saying that a 20th-century Mozart would have made pop music rather than classical (and given Mozart's rock-star-like status in his day Falco may have had a point). Carlos would make three more albums of Bach and contemporaries for the Moog. She also scored the films A Clockwork Orange and TRON, and collaborated with Weird Al Yankovic on an adaptation of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf.
