Marcus Impudite
Your character is enjoyng a lessurely breakfast one morning, when they come upon a shocking story in the newspaper/on the radio/on cable news/whatever. It would seem that all the dolphins on earth have mysteriously vanished! Every last dolphin, from the ones at Sea World to the wild dolphins out in the oceans are all gone, and even the entire Miami Dolphins football team has disappeared! WWYCD? Hermit
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Aquatic- "What, yes, I have water creature powers. It isn't like I TALK to them..." *sigh* "Fine. I'll go swimming in the ocean and see what turns up." *Muttering* Gaze- Lives in Las Vegas, so it might at first look like someone was stealing people's acts. He'd probably investigate it as such. Mole- "That's weird." Leaves it to others, unless his animal loving mom bullied him to do something.
Zed-F
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Well, ok... Soulbarb isn't really in a position to be able to act on this, unless there was a dolphin in the local zoo, and probably not even then. She's a street level heroine who doesn't happen to live in a coastal city. If there were nothing more pressing going on, she'd probably stop by the local zoo to see if she can spot anything unusual just on general principles, but from the sounds of things this isn't going to turn out to be her usual fare, so she may not be able to find anything. Sylph does, on the other hand, live in a coastal city, so she'd be more than willing to look into this. The only problem is she is not really a very competent investigator. She's going to need a bigger clue-by-four from the GM to get her on the right track with this one.

Zed-F
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... So long as the Atlanteans could give her a few pointers about who might have done this and where she should go to try to find the bad guys, that could work. Metaphysician
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Microman II: Would be at a loss to come up with an explanation, as while it sounds like the kind of thing that would result from a villainous plot of dubious sanity, the scale seems beyond the norm. If there isn't some greater menace afoot at the moment, he'd probably see if anyone he knows has contacts with Atlantis, for further info. On being told they all just flew away into space. . . ". . . so how come thousands of dolphins died caught in fishing nets?" Hermes: Wouldn't likely even notice for years, and thats assuming anyone would actually realize that no more dolphins hanging around ships was more than just an ill omen. Hermes himself certainly wouldn't spot it. ( this is assuming that the flying spacen dolphins didn't get noticed on the way up, but I'm assuming they are reasonably stealthy, otherwise, they'd get automatically spotted in the modern scenarios, too )

assault
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Assault tries to organise other heroes into a force to defend Earth from the Vogon constructor fleet. Failing that, he drinks a lot of pints, and hitches a lift aboard a passing starship. However improbably, one picks him up...

rjcurrie
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Rick Davies The Resilient Rubber-Man: Obviously, some supervillain is using Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy to try and trick superheroes into believing that Earth is about to be destroyed so they will abandon it. So, the obvious next step is to check library and bookstore records to see if any known supervillains have borrowed or purchased that book in recent weeks. So. . . whats happening?" Given this intro to the problem, well, Hermes would be interested. It just seems like an *odd* thing to happen. Which means, one word: submarine! Whitewings
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Liane would ask Wave what her people know about this (if they don't know anything about the disappearances then nobody does). If they can't help, worry. There's really not much she can do about this kind of thing. Faye lives a fairly short bus ride away from two universities and an oceanographic research institute. She'll go talk to them, and also go looking for orcas. Orcas are part of the dolphin family. Then expand the search to check on the river dolphins of China and India, the lake dolphins of China, and so on. There are *lots* of different kinds of dolphins. Ika would try to contact the relevant totems, as would Menagerie.
nexus
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... Ivy would commune with the Green and see if its sensed anything. Since its presence is particularly wide spread in the oceans, perhaps its knowns something. The most Eve could would be to cross reference and search for information any possibliy connected phenomona to assist the others. She'd be sad that the dolphins are gone. They're nice. Tao couldn't really contribute and Valkeyrie would in much the same position as Eve. Shidoku couldn't care less.

Hermit
Re: WWYCD: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish... New characters so.. Comet- Head back to Arcadia, and find out if the Empyreans who were into the sea life and animal biz had any ideas. Most of his 'kin' can be obsessive, so surely one of them would fit into that area. Doctor Sanguine would use his variable power pool to ready a retrocog spell if he could, and observe what happened. Until then, he would expect this to be the work of some crazed extradimensional lord who decided he wanted dolphins... perhaps Skarn is trying to abduct them for a new section of the Congeries?
