Need a Name for a Temporal Prison

The game's Time Cops (ANACH) have a stasis prison where time does not pass. I'm not using the prison itself tomorrow in the finale of this run of my campaign, but I do need to drop the name.

So suggestions are welcome. I picture it as a small pocket dimension where they haul away the worst of the time altering villains. It's likley very sterile in nature.

Thanks.

How about HOLD? That not only describes what it does, but the word is also used historically as meaning "stop." Given its purpose, both meanings seem appropriate.

I'm sure you can come up with an acronym if need be, or just use it as is and let everyone assume it's one.

A larger pic of your avatar? Especially the brunette :o

As for the prison:

Perm Folder

The Life Sentence

Stasis ("Send him to Stasis")

Ice Box ("Put him on Ice")

Temperol Joys (probably more of a slang term)

Term

Spell

Span

Epoch

Era

Time Capsule (one of my favorites from this list)

Time Card

Time Constant

Time Keeper (could be the warden ;) )

Time Lag

Time Limit

Time Lock

Time Machine (?)

Time Zone

And a second for "Time Out."

Re: Need a Name for a Temporal Prison

In our game we call the superhuman detention center "The Labyrinth". To continue the pun the bulls (a slang term for prison guards) are called "Minotaurs". It is also often referred to as "The Maze"
Heh, one could almost call it "Tartarus" and slang changes it to "Tarus." :hush:

I like this--you could tell criminals being sent there that they're "put on Hold."

Good One, Trebuchet.

I am kinda liking "Time Out".

I was leaning toward an iconic "The Rock" type name. I think I'll check this thread before I leave for the game tomorrow, but at the moment, it's Time Out.

Pocket Watch (small pocket dimension where they watch the villains)

The Split Second (cut out outside of normal time)

The Loop

Limbo

The Oubliette (place you put people to forget about them, possibly worst thing you could do to someone who wants control of history)

Could just say "they're doing time" and have no real name for the prison.

Of course, you'll probably have an official name and several "slang" or unofficial names - what the cops call it, what the crooks call it, etc.

Nowhen

Tempus Stasis (a play on Tempus Fugit)

Eternity (outside Time)

Ad Aeternam (To Eternity)

S.T.A.S.I.S.

Stop Time And Stay In Solitude

H.O.L.D.

House Of Limitless Duration

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary likes Time Out

Re: Need a Name for a Temporal Prison

Okay... let's see...

TIME-OUT works as a nickname, the actual name probably being something with a person's name, like "Abernathy Temporal Crimes Detention" or somesuch.

I was thinking also "THE Q", short for Quantum Criminal Detention.

"Nowhere" and "Nowhen" have some merit.

"Crossroads" was another idea. But to me that's got to handle detention for more than just our world's reality.

"Limbo" has a certain simplicity.

"The Loop" was an idea, unfinished.

I'm guessing it's going to be a game-time decision.

Re: Need a Name for a Temporal Prison

Terminus

Temporal prison location, Atlanta: just before it was razed. Not so much a where as a when.

- - -

On that note a thought on temporal prisons:

Earth: ∏: Leavings the criminal on Earth just before the Sun evolves to it's next stage. Give them a Heat based beacon so once it gets too hot to survive they are moved back to to the initial point. I would say the beacon is a global function and nowhere near the criminals. Say on the side of the Earth that is experiencing night as opposed to the one facing the sun, where the criminals are placed to while intered.

Now the question is how does one prevent the expanding # of instances of criminals in the same time period. How about a swap when the beacon goes off. That is to say that the body of the criminal being saved just before the heat level becomes fatal is switched with the body of the instance ten minutes or so earlier. So although they are saved each time just before death, they are also killed an infinite number of times.

Ok other names:

Chrono-Gulag

Intermeadus (I think that's the correct spelling)

Black Star Prison

The Temporal Pen
