I just finished The Great American Baking Show latest season on the Roku Channel, which put American bakers into the British tent. Roku Channel is ad-supported, but the ad breaks are generally tolerable, and there's a countdown clock, so you can judge if you want to leave the room.

I remember from many years ago a segment on the nightly news about growing concern about the sugar content of breakfast cereals.  There was a nutrition advocate reciting the level of sugar content in a number of cereals--this was decades before the Nutrition Facts label on every prepackaged food--and he concluded with this statement which has always stuck with me--

"Our children are eating candy for breakfast."

That was then.

This is now.

Sugar content in cereals has certainly been something bemoaned by health pros for ages.  How bad are they?

And how many of em did YOU have?  Me...too many.  It's also worth noting...those are listed by sugar content.  If you consider overall carb content, they're even worse, not surprisingly...they're cereal grains, which means, mostly carbs.

But explicitly promoting them with the candies strikes me as a whole new level of irresponsible, as it teaches kids that candy is food.

Had dinner here yesterday for multiple reasons.  My kids hadn't been there before; it was third time for wife & me (first time was 30 years ago, not long after we got married; 2nd time was last fall, just because).  Really great food.
