I am lucky enough to be pretty much a bona fide genius, so I taught myself to read at 3. Almost everything I learned was self taught, although I did work with a dyslexia specialist tutor around 3rd & 4th grade to overcome my output problems... I mentally built my own workarounds for the input side but making what I was thinking translate properly in writing took quite a while for me to learn.
