Yo-yo

You can't use a Yo-Yo as a weapon. Unless you're the Black Harlequin then you can. Peter Flemming stole the idea and uses it. He has improved the design a little to allow him to fire a Yo-Yo at someone, do damage and come back. He as also perfected the 'Walking the Dog' trick as mesmerism allowing people to be robbed of purses and wallets while watching this. Other trick Yo-yos blow up on contact or deliver shocks. Peter was apparantly a henchman for another crook before joining Toybox.

Yo-Yo exists in Mark Arsenault's classic Champions Adventure, Throwing Stars and Bars under the Gold Rush Imprint. I have rebooted him for King of the Mountain. You'll like it. :)

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Stanley Smith, as a child, was always plauged as a target by bullies. One day, while playing with a toy he liked, the local bully became intrested in stealing it from him. So, standing up to him, he broke his own toy. And he learned he liked it. Over the years, he became known as someone who would steal your toys and brake them for fun. Even later, he graduate to stealing cars and breaking and entering, then breaking what he stolen. As an adult, wheneven he was out of prison, he joined ARGENT as a weapion and equipment tester, specaliseing in putting the equipment into stress tests designed to show how much punishment the objects can take.

Black Haraqueen soon learned about Stanley, and working with ARGENT, designed a cyborg body for him. Then, without his permition, thay put his brain into this body and 'loined' it to BH. Stanley was remade into Toybreaker, and was forced into the Toybox group as a way to pay for the body. (As for why, well BH learned about Toybox, and Toybreaker was ment to be an unwilling spy...then deciding that he needs a way of testing some of his equipment so that it will not backfire on him....you get the ideal.)

Toybreaker is the group's brick, dressed up as a sterotypical bully (yellow and black striped shirt, helocopter beenie, ect...). He does have some equipment: A slingshot designed to be used with his strength and specialised marbles to use as amminition (bewair the glass one with the acidic mist), blaided jacks to toss on the ground (and a jack ball he has no ideal what it does yet). His eyes can spot weeknesses in objects. And he loves to use his enchanted strength to steal focui from superheros, and then tear them apart.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

It's no surprise to anyone that Black Harlequin is a not-nice guy. But some might be surprised exactly now not-nice he can be. For instance, they might be surprised to know that he had his boys nab a low-level psychic and then carefully sliced his brain apart, incorporating those slices into a few toys -- a Magic 8-ball and a ouiji board, to be specific.

The ouiji board wasn't in the toybox when the agents went through it, but Myra Jones found the 8-ball and instantly knew it's true worth. She now works as Toybox's resident precog, warning others when things are about to go awry or advising them on potential actions. She also seems to be able to tap into the 8-ball to warn her about immediate dangers to herself. She now goes by the name 8-Ball, dressing all in black and talking to her toy.

Myra is a low-level psychic herself, which is why she seems better able to use the 8-ball than most others.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Human are not the only beings to contract illnesses. The alien women only Know as Beli had a incurable immune weakness, that prevented her from having contact with any being and forced her to live in a totally sealed environment. However she was not willing to live that way forever and feeling abandoned by the medics of her species, she found an unusual way to leave her footprints in the world. Big footprints.

She created a giant Robot, named Ajax whose center and energy core was her own live support gear. While it is true that it needed a certain minumum size for a humanoid being on the inside, she clearly over did it (That is his gun. And that is Ajax with said gun). Ajax only speaks a humanly unintelligible language, so Beli does all of the converastion via Loudspeakers or Radio.

Ajax features flight, his considerable main weapon with variable firemodes (inlcuding a super-charged blast, autofire, and long range fire), self-refilling swarmrockets in the shoulders and other gimics. However his durability, weight and strenght are comparatively low for something of this size.

In order to improve her hiding ability Beli also stole and included a shrinking device and a holographic cloak, before fleeing to earth. Ajax, and Beli on the inside, can now reduce their size and visual appereance to normal human forms. But the energy demand for that goes on the cost of durability and raw firepower.

She currently works on adding a personal Holograph and/or remote-controllable Android body to improve her abilites to interact with others even further.

The role of Beli & Ajax (short: Beli) in the Condition is that of long range and high damage firesupport. And cowing normals with Ajax sheer size.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

James Earl was born crippled and went to school on crutches or using a wheel chair. He would have remained that way as well, the victim of syumpathy from others and the 'there but for the grace of God, go I' looks if not for your friendly, neighbourhood, mad scientist. Dr Nymax! needed a pilot for a new battlesuit just to keep the heroes off his back. Settling on the undisputed maxim of mad scientists everywhere 'You'll do !', the evil Doctor shoved James into the battlesuit and bolted for his life before the heroes turned up. James felt euphoric. Finally limbs that worked ! He gave the heroes a hard and tough battle before they took him down. However they could not disconnect him without killing him. And due to the suit's programming James was judged to be not guilty by virtue of Dr Nymax!'s control. So James served time as a removal man for heavy items and for superhero battles. But all the time he was waiting to get back into the fray.

The Condition gave him that chance. and now Bot-Man is here to stay. He also keeps an eye out for those people who don't use the exclamation point for Dr Nymax!. James figures he owes the Doc something.

Doctors who have examined Lydia Steinmetz say she has suffered a "complete psychotic break" with reality. Her mind seems to exist in a world filled with fairies and goblins and all forms of imaginary creatures. Some are friendly, others aren't. She's been like this since she was a girl. It broke her parents hearts to send her away, but they just weren't equipped to deal with it.

No one is sure where she got the power to externalize her hallucinations and "share" her fantasy world with those around her. But as Fantasyland, she is an effective... if unique... member of the Condition.

Robert Wilson had cancer. In the hope of curing the cancer and allowing him to live, his doctor subejected him to an experimental drug that should have wiped the tumors out. They did with the price that Wilson's body could virtually explode with shape shifting tentacles.

Naturally he became known as Tendril.

One day, an unamed man was found, bairly alive because most of the right side of his body was burnted off. After extencel surgeries, thay were able to save his life, but would be unable to walk with no right leg, or grab things with no right arm, and lacking a funcitinal right ear or eye also harmed him. But soon people realised he was a mutant who's first jolts of energy projection was what set his body aflame and also caused him some memory loss.

Still, with the help of doctors and the Condition, he was able to harness his mutant powers to fly and to shoot bolts of energy from the left side of his body. Taking the name of Sinister, he seeks the secrets of who he was before the acident, and to finaly cope with his powers and himself.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

It seems today that you cannot be prejudiced against anybody. Not the Irish, not the Jews, not the Chinese or Japanese, not Mexicans, not the (American) Indians and especially not African Americans. Not even women. You can be nasty to the rich, to white guys and no-one else. Oh yeah. Mutants. You can be prejudiced against Mutie Scum. Well that did not sit well with Dave Fisher a student agitator. Those who took offence with his posturing decided to do so with fists and batons. And then found out he was immune to their attacks. Dave graduated but stayed plugged into student radical politics as most of the hardliners there felt he was one of them (even the Lesbian Gay Alliance). He then decided to find someone who could tell students what was what with the mutant cause. But who ? It was while looking at a Holocaust exhibition that he recalled Holocaust. So Steadfast as Dave had become known set up Atomagetion and set out to convince Holocaust of their aims.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Tyrone Power tended to think of himself as an "target of opportunity" when it came to bigots, simply because he was the target of so many of them. As a black man, he comes under fire from anyone with racists. As a dwarf, he's gets it from both the people who see him as a grotesque deformation of the human form, and the condescending people who refuse to see little people as anything but cute little toys to be baby-talked to. As a lawyer, he got flak from those who saw lawyers as either a) evil because they got criminals off on technicalities or B) evil because they protected the corporations. As a Christian, he caught hell from anyone who disliked religion. And as a gay man, he got it from his fellow Christians and the other conservatives. And lets not even get into what happens when people realize he's named after some old moldy movie star.

And as a super-strong, nearly invulnerable mutant... well, he got it from everyone, it sometimes seemed.

He couldn't help the fact that he was short. Or black. Or gay. Or looked like he'd swallowed a bottle of steroids. Or named after a movie star. Okay, so the Christian lawyer thing was his choice, but still... a man can only swallow so much abuse before he turns on his abusers. And that is why he follows Holocaust's philosophies as Rhino a member of Atomagetion.

And you... call him Pygmy Rhino one more time... I dare you.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Silver Tyrant (yes, that IS her name) spent her time pondering and studding to be a weather forcaster. More so, she was brilant and crafty. Prehaps to crafty. And she started dating a minor mutant named Samual 'Gold' Goldenhelm who had no powers, but had golden colored skin. One day, a group of punks assaulted them, injered Silver, and killed Gold. She never forgave them as the trama released her own mutant ability to generate heat and cold (but not fire or ice...well not directly). She called herself Thermal at first as she struck back at Gold's killers. After that, she started getting radical about mutant rights. When she joined Atomigetion, she decided to change her name to Temper.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Note: Thanks to it being in the news lately here in VA/NC due to a fire there, it gave me an idea.

The Great Dismal Swamp Monster

GDS (as he is commonly called by teamates) has not revealed his true identity to his teammates. As a child, he was born deformed. A hard childhood where only his mother loved him left him with a bit of bitterness towards the human world. When he grew up he was a massively large and hairy creature (that looked what a missing link might look like except more dense). After a fire killed a local family, he was run out of town, and would live eventually in the Great Dismal Swamp. Avoiding humans. How long he remained there is mystery. He is clearly confused with automobiles, for instance. And He had become a multi-generational urban legend among the locals.

He now serves as the team brick as he has massive STR. Though, he doesnt seem to hold the same ideals of Holocaust as the others. He fights with them merely so he can eventually be left alone forever.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Some times bad things happen to good people. Carrie Lucas was kidnapped not for the money but to be an experimental subject to give people superpowers, However after she and the current batch of test subjects were given the serum, heroes raided the villains lair and released them.... to the government who monitored what the results were. Carrie showed no increases in anything so she was eventually released. After that the headaches started and she began hearing voices. She realised eventually the voices were the thoughts that people were thinking. She thought that the serum had given her powers. It had not. It had activated her mutant genes. She realised that is why the tests had failed. They were looking for artificially created powers, not pre-existing or dormant ones. Well aware of the prejudice existing about mutants Carrie started looking for help. And found it in Dave Fisher. She graduated into the team by simply saying 'I am in. I read minds. Viva Holocaust.'

Switchboard can fine tune mental commands and send/recieve from up to twenty people simultaneously. She is very careful with her teammates and stays clear of them when they are sleeping so that they don't think she is mind reading them.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

The rat-man Vermin has a secret: he's not really a mutant. He's not even human. Six years ago, N'tgax Lthro and his fellow raiders came to this planet in search of whatever valuables they could find, grab, and get away with. Who knew the planet would be crawling with so many unusual biological specimens? The ship was lucky just to reach orbit after the fight with those so-called "superheroes".

Luckily for him, his crew was multi-species, and none of the native defenders noticed when he got separated. It was childsplay to hide in plain sight as a "mutant"... but when those anti-mutant maniacs with their energy weapons and their attack robots came for him, N'tgax figured it was time to find another crew of raiders, just to cover his own cloaca until he could find a way off this mudball. This is why he hooked up with Atomagetion; these dumb primates don't know he's from another world, and as long as he can keep his secret, he's sure that sooner or later he can catch a lift to a civilized world.

Next team: The Long Riders out of Texas... a group of four cowboy/western themed villains.

Gunslinger is a textbook weaponmaster type, and carries numerous guns around on his belt. However, people are always very surprised when he attacks. Why? Because his guns are actually a diverse array of gimmick boomerangs, of course! He just disguises them as guns to maintain the team's western motif. He's not the brightest light in the building, either, and considers bad puns(like his name) to be high wit.

Also, how many members to the team?

Billie the Kid

If you can take a punch, stand up when it counts and shoot like nobody's business then people will say you're a man. Except if you are a girl when people get really embarrassed. Wilhemina, and one day she is going to have words with Mum and Dad about their choice of name, grew up in rural Texas and it was thought she would be a proper Southern Lady or a proper Southern Tramp. But woe betide the fates as at an influential period in her life arose a Texan hero, Stone Cold Steve Austin. And if he could do it so could she. Take a punch, stomp a mudhole and drink beer. Except girls aren't supposed to do that. Despite lectures, detentions, admonishments from the church and physical punishment (ie spanking which shamefully for everyone else she rather enjoyed), Billie would not be pulled from the path of wrongness. Eventually Wilhemina took off for the travelling Carnivals and State Shows where she would do some sharp shooting. 'Cept that guys don't like being outshot by a girl. Until one day when a stranger appeared and gave her new guns. She ran with a couple of Outlaw groups until one of them put her in touch with the people who would go on to form The Long Riders.

Billie's costume, what there is of it, is deployed to make people think twice about shooting at her. Plus there is a neat sideline in autographs and merchandise. She does wear clothes and sensible shoes when ridng a horse or escaping into barren locations like Monument Valley. What many in the Law Enforcement community are belatedly realising is that Billie can more than hold her own in a fight and hold her drink.

Billie much prefers to shoot a gun out of someone's hand or disable their shooting arms rather than shoot someone dead as the police get awful stuffy about that sort of thing.

The man known as the Gambler claims to be Jake Maverick, but this is almost certainly an assumed name. Dressing as a Western dandy in a fancy suit with a shiny Colt pistol that he never uses, the Gambler is of course a compulsive gambler and can often be distracted with a side bet on anything from what will be the next song on the radio, to who will be the first hero or villain to fall in a fight. However, he never bets for "chump change" (anything under $500) and he is not above cheating to win a bet.

The Gambler is never seen without his special deck of playing cards which he can shuffle, play, or fling at targets with amazing skill. Most of his cards conceal small metal blades, though a few are trick cards that can go up in a flash to blind opponents, stick to a foe and generate disorienting subsonics, or do a few other special effects.

A final warning: he absolutely hates Kenny Rogers, and anybody daring to sing "The Gambler" will become his favored target.

The brawler of the group is Cactus Joe, so named because of the mutation he suffers in the form of small, bone-hard spines his body is covered in. He's an ornery sort because of it, but the spines make his punches and wrestling that much more dangerous, especially since they're laced with a psychotropic toxin to boot.

New team: The Barflies

Number: 5

Theme: These five men and women want to be taken seriously in the realm of villainy. And indeed, every once in a while, they do actually pull off a crime that astounds heroes and authorities. But when your abilities are powered by booze and alcohol, chances are, success is a rare thing. Folks still aren't sure if a minor trickster god or lesser lord of chaos is responsible for this team's origin.

First up in the Barfly is White Lighting. WL (real name, Morgan Jackson), decovered one day that the more he drunk, the faster he became. And if you think drunken driveing is bad, try drunken running. He dosen't remember how he joined this group, or even why. He's just a member, not the leader.

The juggernaut known as Red Bull is a special kind of lycanthrope. He turns from a man into a bull not in the light of a full moon, but rather when his blood-alcohol level reaches a certain point. Luckily for him, he's had enough to drink over the years that the amount that would incapacitate or seriously impair most people is only enough to make RB transform to a bull and either go on a rampage (90% of the time) or become a sloppy, sentimental drunk (10%). And if you've ever had a bull crying on your shoulder and telling you what a great friend you are, you might just wish for the rampage instead.

Judy Abromowicz loves being a mutant, but hates being called Beer Belly. She's tried to get the other members of The Barflies to accept the alternatives she's come up with over the years, but none of them ever stuck. Its because of her powers, of course. She's heard of other metahumans who could turn their bodies into water. These guys can spray water out of their arms like a fire hose, and most attacks just pass through them like they weren't there. Judy can do all those things.

Except when she does it, its beer. Specifically, when she transforms into liquid form, she is 100% chemically identical to Mackeson Cream Stout. And no, she has no idea why its that particular kind of beer.
