Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Philip Grayson is the son of two of the most powerful wizards on the planet. As such everyone including his parents assumed he would carry on the family tradition and become a mage. The fates decreed otherwise. Philip was not that smart at school and could not grasp some of the most basic principles of magic. It wasn't until one of his parents enemies attacked him and hit him with a death spell that it became apparant what his powers were. Immunity to magic. That's right. Two great mages had given birth to a child who could not be hurt by their power. To make matters worse his actual superpower turned out to be strength. Philip is a muscle bound lunk the sort that give his own parents grief.

Philip has become The Wall. He serves as the team brick. He wears a flak jacket and knee and elbow guards as well as his costume as not every foe that the Outsiders fight will be magical in nature. His parents are against the idea but he will never be a mage so he has to do something useful.

When the Dark Mask and Mage Blade got together, they thought their gifts would pass on to their children. Mark Ferris did inherit their gifts, but instead of darkness and an empathic weapon, he became the Day. Light reaches from inside him to burn away the forces of evil instead of attack from within like his parents.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Alouette Lupin is the descendant of a long line of gentleman thieves and classy cat burglars. (You may have heard of some of her more famous relatives, though the werewolf side of the family keeps itself out of the headlines.) During her childhood, Alouette was dumped off with a nanny while her parents went off and stole things, and sometimes spent time behind bars. In her teens, she was finally allowed to travel with them, seeing exotic locations, meeting interesting people, and ripping them off.

Alouette also discovered that she had a talent for piloting light aircraft and gliders. Aviation soon became her primary joy, far beyond thievery. But then came the day when her parents were ambushed by rival robbers, ones who didn't believe in fair play and minimal violence. Her mother survived, though without her hands, but Alouette's father perished. And of course, the police couldn't be bothered to deal with the death of a notorious criminal.

So Alouette turned detective. She adopted a new guise, the Sky Wolf, swooping down from the air to catch criminals in the act. It took a couple of years to track down the murderous gang, during which Sky Wolf got a good reputation as a crimefighter. The rest of the family is rather appalled despite their sympathy for her loss.

Sky Wolf is superbly trained in the arts of thievery, and is an agile combatant with an unofficial high ranking in the art of Savate. She's learned the art of detection as well, though is still something of a beginner. Sky Wolf is somewhat stronger and faster under the full moon--she may be at risk for lycanthropy. She wears a costume with glider wings, though she prefers to use actual gliders or small aircraft for long flights.

Alouette still has strong family loyalty, and will tend to let family members go free unless they've violated the family's honor code. Then she has no compunctions about removing their ability to continue in the family business.

Ivana Pieterovich always wanted to be like her mother the famed dancer, who also was secretly known as the Red Dancer. She would watch her mother perform at the opera house, and later upon the mean streets of Moscow kicking Russian Mobsters halfway across the city. Oh the dream that Ivana had, but reality had a nasty way of making a girl who should've been great, not so great. Like her mother, Ivana was superhumanly strong, Ivana could crush a brick with her barehand, but it was the grace that Ivana lacked. Her mother took her to numberous dance instructors but each in turn shook their heads in dispair in the way that Ivana danced. One was even sent to the hospital after a bad step by Ivana. Her mother tried to be as supportive as she could, but Ivana saw it as she had failed her mother. Ivana just couldn't bare it. Packing her bags, she fled. However, trouble always seems to be around each and every corner. Ivana in her dispair even thought about becoming a super-villainess, but just before crossing that line she met the other members of the Outsiders, people she could relate to. Now if she could only learn how to dance without putting her foot through the floor.

Born to atlanteans, Moz Karis couldn't breathe underwater. His gills only worked if he was constantly on the move like a shark. If he paused at any time, he would start choking. He was sent to live on land with trusted surfacedwellers.

Moz discovered that while he couldn't live for good under the water, he could fly through the air.

Moz adopted the guise of the Pelican when he discovered one more thing. He discovered he liked to be a hero.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

With his raw physical power, and resistance the man who would become known as Doom seemed well on his way to meet his goal of personaly killing everyone on Earth. That plan changed when he met the woman who would become known as Gloom. With her dark psyhic powers to guide him the plan changed to them killing everyone else on Earth. Then Gloom got pregnant. The couple setteled down into a nice quiet suburb where they could wait for the birth. They felt sure they would either soon give birth to the antichrist or at least the next best thing. But when the baby was born instead of a bunch of dark omens, they got a very happy baby girl. Sixteen years later that girl has had her name legally changed to Rainbow. Perky, energitic, nieve, and so sweet it'll make your teeth rot. The girl who dies pink, purple, red, yellow, orange, and blue streaks through her hair never has a bad word to say about anyone, and is always ready to help people out. Weither they want it or not. Doom and Gloom can't understand how their daughter turned out like this, but they curb their darker tendencies in her presence.

As for Rainbow she has clearly inherited a great deal of Doom's strength, and her tendency to know when there is trouble around her speacks of Gloom's abilities. The criminals she's caught aere also confused. Is it worse to be beaten up, by a small, perky, apparent airhead, or listen to her talk about the power of friendship, and how much happier they'd be if they stopped and smelled the flowers. When the Outsiders asked her to join she was happy to help. Though she dosen't understand why they keep saying there's something wrong with her relationship with her parents. They probably met them When Mom was reading the obituaries. Shes always a bit depressed after reading those. But a good hug and a walk iun the park can perk anyone up.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Justin Taylor knows his parents love him and that they're so proud of him they can barely contain themselves. But the truth is he still feels he let them down. When your parents are two of the more powerful super beings of their generation, being born with out any powers whatsoever can be something of a disappointment.

Oh they tried not to let it show, but his teen years were even more tense than average given that they kept waiting for superpowers to arrive. But they never did - unless you count his drive to succeed. Justin apprenticed to some of the non-powered hero friends of his folks, and then with the super powered ones. He needed to know what to expect. He trained his body and his mind for years and when he finished college he set about developing his costumed identity - with the help of family friends he developed a battle suit that enabled him to mimic the powers of his folks and now as Legacy, he fights for justice. He was drawn to the Outsiders and considers them his peers and family, Legacy wants to forge them into something that will make his folks proud; and make them feel like they fit in.

As for his team:

Lightforge is a heavy hitter and someone he's glad to have around He walks the line between magic and technology and is an excellent source of information. Even his rudimentary warrior training combined with his Asgardian physique makes him dangerous. Legacy is working on his techniques.

The Wall is a source of strength for the team, in that he can monopolize magic foes who rightfully fear him.

The Day is the primary fire support. And he's surprisingly stealthy for a sun wielder.

Skywolf is a concern, he understands her family ties and sympathizes but he can't condone her letting criminals escape. He keeps a close eye on her and works tirelessly to bring her over fully to the side of good. She finds him kind of annoying.

Ivana is somewhat perplexing, her self-image problems are worse than the others and she tends to go into periods of darkness. However the Wall finds her fascinating and Legacy tries to keep them together, she seems to like the company.

The Pelican works hard, brings a true outsider's outlook to the table and is very trustworthy. Legacy has silently annointed the atlantean his seccond in command. The others seem to be falling into line with it and the Pelican has taken to the responsibility.

Rainbow drives him bonkers...he's just not sure he doesn't like it

The team is brick-centric, so Legacy added a few more ranged abilities to his battlesuit, and Lightforge is working on some nonlethal group weapons or vehicles with Skywolf. The team is young and hormones being what they are there seems to be a lot of flirting going on, but they have performed admirably.

*whew*

Ok another team:

The Blue Shield

An international team of 10 supers all from a law enforcement background. Try to use 10 different nations. The team is under the authority of the UN (or UNTIL or what have you). And more popular in some places than others.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Ada Bathurst worked as a detective in Christchurch, New Zealand. She was pretty good at her job -- at least until the headaches started. Initially concerned, she saw a doctor but fortunately found nothing like a brain tumor or blood clot. Unfortunately, they couldn't determine a cause. Ada just chalked it up to stress and age.

Then came that one case. It looked like just a tragic murder/suicide -- a single mother unable to take life anymore after her divorce had appeared to lock herself and her young child up in the garage, started the car and let it fill up with exhaust. But when Ada touched the car, her mind was suddenly flooded with images -- exposing matters as a set-up by the deceased's cold-blooded ex-husband. Knowing she couldn't well arrest the SOB on just a "vision", Ada worked hard to make the case stick properly with evidence to back it up. While it appeared to be circumstantial, when the perp was confronted he crumpled like a house of cards and confessed.

Two weeks later, Ada got the call from the UN/UNTIL. While conventional doctors couldn't pick up anything on her MRI, somehow someone higher up figured out what she had and that Ada's psychometry could be a great benefit. While she's not too keen on the moniker Sincaller, Ada actually likes the chance to use her abilities on a global stage. However, she still gets headaches -- and that does worry her. They haven't overwhelmed her yet, but she has the growing suspicion they could get worse.

Jimmy Sie has served in various areas of the Hong Kong police force before landing in SWAT. His natural ability with any type of weapon made him one of the greatest snipers on the force.

Jimmy began having problems after a drug bust on the edge of the bay. He found his body changing. Any weapon he picked up changed into the weapon he wanted. His reflexes made him a natural gunfighter on the par with speedsters and martial artists.

His power is expanding with training from the UN team. It doesn't hurt that he's a Deadshot.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

They called Yuri Gordunov "The Bear". Yuri worked in Moscow for the GRU and was always one of the first through the door or tackling a suspect. His large frame and smiling demeanour when he said 'Greetings Comrades !' got him the nickname as people always thought he looked like a bear that was about to eat you. His superpowers did not become apparant until some of the Russian mafia decided they were not going to be arrested and shot Yuri at point blank range with an AK47 assault rifle. To their surprise, and to be honest Yuri's as well, the bullets made holes in his coat but that was all. The snap assumption was that he was wearing a flak jacket. But bouncing magnum rounds off your skull told a different story.

After arresting the mafia goons Yuri was tested and came back positive for superpowers. Despite pressure from other departments Yuri was a police man and he steadfastly refused a move away from GRU. It was the UN that changed his mind. They pointed out to the Russians what a coup it would be to have a steadfast and loyal police officer working for them with good publicity for the mother country. Although certain people were upset that is what happened. The Bear came to New York and began making an impact by lifting a car out of the way to get to a criminal which was shown on live TV.

Yuri is a mid level brick but his defenses are pretty strong. He is also a dedicated police officer. His new employment gives him the chance to rile certain Americans by emphasising his Russian-ness and expounding Communism which makes right wing commentators foam at the mouth. His mischief making nature has also shown him down a bottle of Vodka while saying 'This is the perfect way to start the day' and 'This is how we do it in Russia !'

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Robert "Uncle Bob" Pratchett was a constable in the Metropolitan London police force. He was a competent officer, but no more than that, so he was on the oldish side for his rank. Just to keep him from getting too comfortable in any one chair, his superiors moved him from squad to squad every couple of years. Robert was, again, competent but not outstanding in each assignment, and built up a good store of varied knowledge and police techniques for any circumstance. Eventually, he landed on the Special Powers Squad, a unit called in when there was suspicion of metahuman involvement in a crime.

His time on the squad was solid but not spectacular until the day a mad scientist got very angry that the police were invading his laboratory (the search warrant was in order, it wasn't the cops' fault the resident had been listening to heavy metal while experimenting and hadn't responded to a polite knock.) The madman threw a random vial of mutagenic chemicals at the officers, and Robert dived to intercept it and save the rest of the squad.

While recovering in the hospital, Robert discovered he was much stronger than before, but more disturbingly, his fingernails had grown into razor-sharp claws, as hard as diamond. It took some doing to learn how to use his hands with this new feature, but Robert is now extremely deft with them, able to filet a fish as easily as he can rip through solid steel.

He took his codename from the first truly professional police force, the Peeler.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

The door to the Lonely Shepard banged loudly as the big man stepped inside. Dust and sweat coated him like a second skin. All eyes turned to look at the newcomber to this little sheep station in the deepest part of the Outback. All conversation stopped for a moment as the patrons gave him a looking over. The wise ones turned back to their drinks, all except for the name only knows as the Bush Ranger who frowned and spat into a handy coffee can. The stranger stood in the doorway scanning the crowd from behind a pair of aviators' glasses. The sleeves of his bush jacket were rolled up to the biceps and they barely contained the muscled arms. With practiced ease the man removed his sweat soaked hat and ran a hand across his brow flicking sweat to the floor. A quick smile showing teeth like pearls followed.

"Now ain't this a fine B&S party mates," he said looking over the room, his eyes locking onto the Bush Ranger.

The bartender looking frightened said, "We ain't want' no troubles mate."

"Strewth mate," the man said, "I ain't looking for trouble no more. I done found him. I travelled so far that I can feel myself coming. The names Jack Maldoon, and I'm with AFP, and Bush Ranger, you are under arrest."

"Is that so," the Bush Ranger sneered.

Jack didn't even feel the pool cue shattering off his back. He turned a with a might backhand send his attacker flying. Bedlam reigned supreme in the Lonely Shepard, and all through the brawl, Jack's smile never faultered. In the end the Bush Ranger was punched through the door into the dusty, hot, ground outside the bar to lay in a stupor. Coming out after him came Jack, who even had time to grab himself a frosty beer as he came.

It was the range rover parked outside that got Jack's attention. A pair of flags flew from the front of the rover, the flags of the commisioner of the Australian Federal Police. Jack stared at the tinted windows for a second before finishing his beer. He barely glanced at the Bush Ranger, he wasn't going anywhere, before walking up to the car. The driver side window whirled down and the cool AC touched Jack's face. He was right, the driver was the commissioner himself. Instantly Jack went to attention.

"That'll do Jack," the commissioner said. Jack eased his stance a little.

"Jack me boy, I got most excellent news for you. Your most extraordinary talents are going to be put to good use. No more tracking criminals across the Outback, no siree."

"Um..."

"Don't interupt me Jack. Here's the dosier. I'll expect you in Sydney in a week. Dismissed."

The window slide back up closing Jack back in the overheated Outback, and before he could ask any more questions the commissioners rover drove off leaving him in the dust.

Looking down as the folder Jack read the cover and said to himself, "What in the world is Blue Shield." A week later, Jack was going to find out.

Jack has the ability to track anyone, anwhere. Physically he's on the level of an Olympic athlete. Also, Jack can probably drink anyone under the table. Since joining Blue Shield, Jack has been handed the code name: Outback. He still doesn't know what to think about that.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

The gang had long controlled the Sitapur marketplace, terrorizing both shopkeepers and customers alike at their whim. But when they started shooting and killing people, it was time for someone official to intervene. Someone like Det. Deepfar Gurdparm.

The gang leader had a beautiful hostage gripped tightly by one hand, and a shotgun in the other, and he was shooting out the windows of a clothing store when Gurdparm arrived on his motorcycle. Without slowing down, the detective aimed his cycle at the gang leader, then jumped onto the seat. Moments before the cycle rammed into the surprised young man, Gurdparm leapt into the air, drawing both of his guns and opening fire in mid-flip. First two, then four, then six gang members fell to a fusillade of bullets before the detective landed in a crouch in the middle of eight more gang-bangers.

"" he said. ""

Predictably, they chose not to listen. A single roundhouse kick knocked all of them down and out, and the other gang members began to flee. That just will not do, thought the detective wryly as he sprang into action. Soon, fully two and a half dozen felons were either unconscious or bleeding profusely, and peace had returned to the marketplace.

At that point, his cell phone rang. It was the chairman of India's National Police Commission, Gurdparm's nominal boss. "" the detective said as he held out his hand to help the former hostage, a beautiful young woman, to her feet. "" he said as he idly kicked one gangbanger who was starting to recover consciousness.

He listened for a moment, a confused expression on his face. ""

Putting away his phone, he walked over to the woman he had rescued. "" he said, "" He smiled, the sun glinting off both his sunglasses and his teeth, and the woman returned his smile before wrapping him in an embrace.

- - - - - - - -

Detective Gurdparm has the (likely mystical) ability to perform impossible moves in combat (yes, including the infamous "boomerang gun") and can seemingly dance through a fight completely unscathed by bullets, shrapnel, knives, or fists. Because of his unique combat style, he has been given the code name Bollywood (though he rarely if ever answers to that, and even when he does it's with a snarl).

I think I saw that video recently... ;)

Anatole Achille represents Camaroon -- and he's quite relieved to have been chosen for it. One of the few cops not willing to take a bribe in Yaounde, internal pressure was on to "reassign" him elsewhere. Likewise, it was becoming harder and harder to hide his abilities. Taking on the name Chaleur, Anatole thrills in working with Blue Shield, though he is prone to taking risks like in some of the American cop shows and movies he's watched.

"Chaleur" is French for "heat" -- which is what his powers are based on. He can fire blasts of super-heated air at an opponent. Likewise, he is capable of running very fast, making it tough to get a bead on him as the very air shimmers with heat. He has at times been able to drain an opponent due to heat exhaustion by running circles around them. As of right now, Anatole is not sure how he will handle cold weather or whether it will affect his powers in any way. Meanwhile, he hopes he can earn enough money with Blue Shield to try to get his wife and son out of Yaounde. He's worried that he made a few enemies back at the force that they may try to do something to his family to get back at him.

Cheng Li came from the back of beyond in China. But his test scores attracted the attention of people and he got to go to University. He was aware he was watched and kept his nose down while he worked. He graduated near the top of his class and joined law enforcement. He was noted as being meticulous and also scrupulously honest. He would not tolerate being shouted down, being told to leave an investigation alone due to party influence or favours, or being bribed. One of his opponents got him transferred to the back of beyond only for Cheng to uncover and thwart a people smuggling operation much to the delight of officials in the Capital. The Triads then paid a paranormal assassin to kill him but he was able to thwart this with energy powers that he spontaneously developed.

Cheng was then transferred to the UN as part of Blue Shield as their was no official Chinese representation on the team (Johnny Sie is from Hong Kong not the mainland and that is enough for the party chiefs) but really to stop him investigating the party back home. Cheng is learning Spanish and English and learning to work with his colleagues. He is delighted as he finds them as dedicated as he is to the work.

His codename is Relentless Pursuit

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Kibuko Baragawa was a stereotypical member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Traffic Division--young, pretty, and just in uniform to have a career between college and matrimony. It wasn't that she didn't have decent physical and mental skills, but that she'd bought into a social pattern that viewed women's careers as secondary to thier role as wives and mothers. She'd found a young man with good prospects, and was about to get married to him, so tendered her resignation from the PD.

However, the evening of her resignation, Kibuko discovered that her fiance had not gotten an expected promotion, and the wedding would have to be put off. When she crawled back to the police to ask for her old job back, she was informed that the Traffic department opening had already been filled with a new cute girl. Kibuko said she would "do anything", and was told that one position was, in fact, available. Assistant to Detective Inspector Tengami. Kibuko hastily agreed.

She was somewhat shocked to find herself driven to a nearby hospital. Was the inspector investigating a case there? No. It turned out that Tengami was a patient there, hooked up to a frightening number of machines. He didn't appear to be awake.

"Touch him, Baragawa-san."

Reluctantly, she did so, and suddenly she could hear a voice in her head. Turned out that Inspector Tengami was in a coma, but his powerful mind could still link to an outside one. He could see and hear everything that Kibuko could, and they could communicate mentally. The previous "assistants" had been unable to endure the constant presence of an intruder in their minds. Fortunately Kibuko was more mentally flexible. Moreover, somehow the mental link activated previously unsuspected powers in herself, making Kibuko mildly superhuman in speed and reflexes. Combined with the keen detective skills of Tengami, "Rover" proved invaluable to the Tokyo PD.

That is, until someone got the bright idea of seconding Kibuko to Blue Shield. The good news is that the mental link persists even across the world; the bad news is that in English, Rover is a dog's name. Kibuko's silent partner is a secret from the other members, and she often comes across as a bit spacey just before showing uncanny deductive skills.

Jesus Zapata comes from Mexico. He is a lowly policeman. But the one policeman that the cartels do not want to mix it up with. One look is enough to make them start shaking. And a few words is enough to make them start to confess. He has not the refinement or political skill to ascend the ladder of promotion but he is not corrupt and takes a dim view of it. He takes a dimmer view of those that would try and corrupt a police man. When things have become a little hot Jesus has been loaned to the other forces south of the Equator. And even to Brazil where Jesus learned Portugese (or at least the Brazilian version of it).

Jesus scares even his own people. There have been assassination attempts that have failed and Jesus found the people who sent the assassins. They talked quickly.

So his superiors found a new way to get rid of him. The UN and Blue Shield.

The Confessor is coming. He will hear your sins now.

New Team: The Ministry of Heavy Weapons. Minimum five members plus the guy that arranges the jobs (so at least 6). The Ministry are all power armour wearers who wield large guns like missile launchers, heavy machine guns, freeze guns, conversion beam projectors and the like. They are not Iron Man, none of them can fy. Neither are they mech pilots. All the Ministry are between 5' 11'' to 8' in their power suits which help absorb recoil and a lot of damage.

The Ministry do not expect to live long as they go into very dangerous situations. Want to fight Dr Destroyer ? You may need them to hold off his agents.

Detail the member and the gun he carries. It has to be something that under normal circumstances is a two man operation or a vehicle mount.

The arranger of the jobs is someone who does not take part in the gigs but liaises with various forces, governments and super teams for the Ministry to support or work for.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

I became a pilot so I could fly, not so I could run and jump, thought Warren Tognowski wryly as he keyed the 6-digit code that opened the back hatch. After it swung up, he climbed and wormed his way inside the 9-foot powered armor suit. Despite its impressive size, the interior was disappointingly cramped, especially after the hatch closed and airbags throughout the armor half-inflated around his limbs, torso, and forehead. I can’t move fast, Warren thought as he went down what he liked to call his “preflight checklist,” but you gotta admit, between the airbags and the titanium armor plating, it was tough to really hurt him. He’d once taken a punch from Grond and lived to tell the tale. (Sure, he spent a few weeks in the hospital, and they had to completely replace the front torso plating on the suit. But hey, he survived!)

Power systems active. Backup batteries, charged. He cursed when he saw there was only 90% pressure on hydraulic leg-rams; someone was supposed to have taken care of that damn leak. Well, if need be he could always activate the solid-fuel rockets that allowed him a one-time-only five-mile leap.

He powered up his forearm-mounted 20mm minigun, hearing the reassuring hum as it spun up to speed. It was a slightly-modified GAU-4/A Vulcan, carrying 1,200 rounds of ammunition that he could chew through in about 20 seconds if he held the trigger down. Because of that, whenever possible he hand-carried a second ammo pod that he could swap out in about a minute or so. Granted, most combats were over by the time he could do that, but Warren really hated being out of ammo.

After checking out all the other systems (communications, sensors, air- and temperature-control systems), he keyed his microphone. “This is Warthog, ready to roll. Let’s go kick some tail!”

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

This one uses some Champions Universe folks... just change them to suit your tastes...

+++++

Leroy Karl Monroe had worked hard and it was finally starting to payoff for him. With the help of his tutor, he had studied long and hard to stay in college and get noticed by the NFL scouts. He was drafted in the first round and was given one of the largest signing bonuses ever paid to rookie defensive lineman.

After signing the contract with the MC Lions, he had taken his family out to dinner.

Then it all caved in on him, literally... a battle between Mechanon and the Champions had damaged the building where the family was dining causing it to collapse on them.

Leroy lost all of his immediate family, his mother, his father, his little brother and his little sister. He also lost the ability to walk as a piece of rubble landed on him, crushing his lower spine and pelvis.

The signing bonus was soon gone eaten up by the medical bills, leaving Leroy both broke and broken.

Then came the night that Dr. Silverback came calling... the simian genius had heard Leroy's story and offered his help in getting the broken man back on his feet.

The first set of neural implants failed in an attempt to bypass the damaged area of his spinal cord, leaving Leroy still paralyzed.

The second set of neural implants were built to pass signals from Leroy's nervous system to a lower body exoskeleton that would allow Leroy to walk again, but for some reason the signals were not strong enough. No matter how much fine tuning was done, Leroy could only get around with the aid of a walker when wearing the lower body exoskeleton.

The third set of neural implants were like the second but with built in signal boosters, yet still they failed to allow the former athlete to walk with ease. No matter how much fine tuning and adjustments, or time spent practicing, Leroy stumbled around like a small child learning to walk.

Then the doctor decided to go big... the result was something very different than the original lower body exoskeleton. It was large and looked ungainly, but with it on Leroy moved with the grace and power that had once been his ticket to fame.

After much discussion with the doctor about his desire to help others, Leroy convinced the doctor to build a full suit of battle armor based on the large exoskeleton design. Standing eight feet tall and looking like a large robotic football player from the future, Leroy christened the suit, Tackle-Loco.

After Leroy joined the Ministry of Heavy Weapons, the Tackle-Loco armor was fitted with a vertical launch missile system backpack. The standard tactical plan is for Leroy to salvo the missiles and then close in to hand-to-hand range. Leroy, however tends to get caught up in his re-found ability to run around and sometimes forgets to fire the missiles. The has considered having a remote control system added to the missile launcher system to ensure that the firepower is not left unused with the missiles sitting fallow in the canisters while Leroy is closing into tackling range.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

You don't join the Ministry of Heavy Weapons for glory or the money. Certainly you don't join for a pension or medical plan. And Lord Above help you if you are the opposition. Mind you the opposition can be Telios, Mechanon, Dr Destroyer and even Grond. With so many different agents and vehicles and 'bots hanging around the forces of Law Enforcement need a little bit extra and this is where the Ministry comes in. Sometimes you are just there to blunt an attack or as a diversion; other times you are the cavalry; then maybe you are the only ones willing and able to carry out the job.

Been to the Arctic and the Antarctic, the Sahara and the inside of volcanoes. Jungles and swamp can be a problem but we can cope with these terrains. When you see us, either surrender or start running 'cos there's no way we are backing down. That idiot in Uzbekistan learned that the hard way. Sure his place was isolated and he had people guarding him. But against us ? No chance. And no mercy in this case. The locals turned a blind eye. They were glad to see the back of him and his parasites.

True my armour ain't as big as Warthog or Tackle-Loco but the configuration is a bit more flexible allowing me to carry heavy machine guns or gun, flame throwers, frost guns, concussion blasters or the conversion beam projector. Even the mini-guass cannon.

I have been here the longest now. Everyone calls me Sarge. Don't mean I'm in charge. Just means that I know what I am doing.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Me? No. I don't fight in the front lines. I don't have the ability. I tend to stay way back here and watch things from a distance. Then sometimes I shoot things for the team.

Officially I'm listed as artillery-slash-fire support on the bill. That's because I have a targeting system that allows me to see the whole scene and Big Bertha here to reach out and touch someone.

That's why they call me the Nailer.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

"Are you sure you want him?"

"Yes"

"But have you read the psych report?"

"Yes"

"Then how can you give that suit to him. The man has a death wish."

"We're talking about the Ministry of Heavy Weapons. You don't point a gun at Doctor Destroyer with out being a tad unconcerned if you die. Someone whos willing to die is a plus."

"But if he should go full suicidal in the middle of a populated area?"

"Now who hasn't read the psyche reports? He's only likely to use it in as an example a hoard of Takfloanes undead. Send him in."

Hugh Jensen entered and sat at the desk. From what he had heard about the man across the table he had expected the office to be much more grand.

"Now Mr. Jensen as discussed the suit we will provide has an .80 callibur machine gun, freeze ray, some missiles, and what is best described as a low yield nuke without the radiation. Though that you can only use once, and shouldn't mention to other members of the Ministry. Are these terms acceptable."

Jesen smiled.

"Absoulty."

"Welcome to the Ministry of Heavy Weapons Kaboom."

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Shinji liked to be alone for a few minutes before entering the beast.

The beast. Shinji never used that word in front of others; never said it aloud. Kept it inside. But the beast knew how Shinji felt. Shinji was sure of that.

And the beast didn't care.

Or hadn't yet. It would some day. Of course it would. One day, Shinji would slide inside and feel the beast's embrace and something would be different. Shinji would go out to do his duty and the beast would seem to respond as it always had. It would take him into the heart of battle. It would allow Shinji to scatter crowds and explode buildings. And then it would silently snarl and inwardly sneer and it would fail to protect Shinji. That fragile little bundle of bones and gristle and blood everyone assumed to be in charge. And Shinji would die. And the beast would be repaired and handed off to the next guy.

Shinji knew. He had been "the next guy" once.

And what could he do? He could stick to his diet and his workout and his prayers. He could continue to do secret good deeds. Working hard to make sure no one even suspected Shinji of having done them a favor. He could stroke the beast and maintain it and seem -- oh seem! -- to have tamed it. This he could do.

Breathe in for four counts. Hold for six. Let it out for eight. Do it again. Again. Find that center. The stillness.

Open the seal. Step inside. Allow the embrace. Wait for everything to blink green. Check the legs. Each of the four arms. Disconnect the umbilical. Pick up today's weapons: INF17, an infrasound emitter keyed to 17 Hz capable of instilling awe, fear, anxiety, uneasiness, sorrow, and/or revulsion -- though one could never tell what any given target's reaction might be; PEP, a pulsed energy projectile which isn't a projectile but rather an invisible laser that generates plasma where it hits and hurts like hell (or, with the power turned way up, kills); and the SMAW-NE, the little missile with the big thermobaric warhead -- for when a wall really pisses you off and you figure an extended, powerful overpressure wave needs to be introduced to the equation.

Pretty standard.

Shinji turned to look at the mirror and saw the beast. Just what he had expected. Just . . . what he deserved.

The techs came in -- relieved that Shinji had gotten into his battle armor so quickly -- and did their final checks. "You're all set. Go get 'em Thanator!" Shinji grunted something non-committal. And went. And got 'em.
