Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Things I have learned from the X-Files

Don't do deals with aliens. It will backfire. On you.

Don't mess with alien spaceships. Even if you think they are your friends. It will end badly, trust me on this.

Don't ever trust politicians.

Sometimes the rational answer is the right one.

Sometimes the bizarre and irrational answer is the right one.

In God we trust. Usually.

In medicine we trust. Usually

In science we trust. Usually.

The higher up the pole you go the less likely to be a friend you become.

Don't mess with a pregnant woman. Or a new mother.

The paranormal is alive and well and perfectly willing to kick you in the behind.

If the military are doing things that they shouldn't it will go wrong.

Always have backup.

Scary monsters and super creeps, keep me running. Running scared.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

"Mr. Tannenbaum said he tries to convey his feelings to his Christian friends by asking them to imagine this: "Everywhere you go strangers say to you, 'Merry Ramadan.' Anywhere you go you can't get into a store because people are bowing to Mecca. You'd be an angry minority. You'd be like, 'Enough of this Ramadan all ready.' " "

I wonder if Mr. Tannenbaum knows how many (loosely termed) Christians feel just the same!

On a serious note, it' s a strange argument Tannenbaum makes. I mean, after all, if we lived in Israel we would expect those holidays to be a big deal and the same in Saudi Arabia, and in both cases I wouldn't expect any public acknowledgement of Christmas. I'm not sure what there would be to feel "angry" about, lonely, sure, but anger seems quite misplaced.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

One of my co-workers got her nipples pierced on a whim today.

I walked in on her taking picture of her breast to prove to her new boyfriend.

Didn't see anything as her back was to me, but the she and the other co-worker were quite embarrassed about the whole thing.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

thought ... I'd like to get one of those gaudy moving lit up x-mas reindeers for your lawn, and a short strong of outdoor lights. Place red bulbs are the throat lights on the reindeer, and red lights in the string, put the reindeer on its side on the lawn (head moving like it might be in death throws) with the string of red lights under it, pooled like a puddle.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Just found a great trivia question for people to use in quizzes. But you have to be of a literay bent or the audience has to be.

What links the two BBC adaptations of Bleak House in 1985 and 2005 ?

The answer is Gillian Anderson. In the 2005 version she plays Lady Dedlock but a woman of the same name is the Assistant Floor Manager on the 1985 version. It isn't the same person as the Gillian we know was 17 in 1985 and still at school in America.

The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret by Queens of the Stone Age

Well I've got a secret, I cannot say

Blame modern movement to give it away

You've got something I understand

Hold it in tightly, call on command

Leap of faith - do you doubt?

Cut you in, I just cut you out

What ever you do, don't tell anyone (2x)

Look for reflections in your face

Canine devotion that I can't erase

Out on the corner, locked in your room

I never believe them, I never assume

Stuck in belief, there is a lie

Promise is promise, an eye for an eye

We've got something to reveal

No-one can know how we feel

What ever you do, don't tell anyone (3x)

What ever you do, don't tell

I think you already know

How far I'd go not to say

You know the art isn't gone

I'm taking my song to the grave

What ever you do, don't tell anyone (3x)

What ever you do, don't tell
