Old Man
I'm getting real tired of doing my kids' teachers' jobs for them.

Old Man
The whole point is that I don't have time for that. (Not that I'd homeschool my kids anyway. Too many horror stories from my friends-who-are-teachers.)
Badger
Yeah, I don't really know how I feel about homeschooling to be honest. I figure since my high school experience was essentially a 4 year long horror movie, I should recuse myself. (maybe private school could be the optimum, but who the hell can afford that)
Logan D. Hurricanes
Private school's not any better. Speaking as an ex-private school teacher, that is. My teaching experience taught me one thing: just don't have kids, it's their best chance.
Cancer
* cough choke * Registration for the American Astronomical Society meeting in January is $520. Guess I will submit this for reimbursement. That's about a factor for 3 higher than it was last time I went to one, four years ago.

Cancer
No, it's some policy thing that got adopted, I expect. AAS has been doing a bunch of social-engineering stuff the last decade or so, and that gets expensive.
Cancer
Quote We used 60 million CPU hours on the supercomputer Mira, awarded by the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility for the INCITE programme, as well as computational resources from NASA and NERSC (National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center), to solve the three-dimensional radiation hydrodynamic equations8 and follow the physically realistic evolution of the stellar envelopes of luminous blue variables (LBVs; see Methods for the simulation set-up). ... And we're d*** well gonna get at least one paper out of it!! FWIW, 60 million hours is about 6850 years. Obviously they were cranking many, many CPUs at once. Starlord
Does anyone know of any good aerospace/mechanical engineer forums or sites? My wife is teaching a robotics class and needs to find some engineers to interview.
Cancer
Sorry, I don't, and since there isn't an aeronautical engineering program at my institution, I don't have a ready place to ask about same.

So, that would tie up all of them for a little over 3 days.
