  3. Re: Best example of role-playing a disadvantage Alice played one of Beacon's limitations so well it was scary at times. She would kill the room when someone made a joke in her character's direction and she would take it literal. I can't remember the actually wording of the disadvantage but it was the step below being Austic.
  4. Re: Any Japanese speakers on the board? There is a Karaoke joke in here somewhere, I'm sure.
  5. Re: Cities of Caleon! Free to Adapt! That's a lot of detail. Good job.
  6. Re: Is Mind Scan broken? I remember when Alice was playing Beacon. She would walk into the post office, rip off a missing person flyer and leave. She would use Mind Scan, find the person after spending a while searching. She would call the FBI, tell them where the person was and said she didn't want the reward. Because it was mostly background and wasn't abused for finding GM important fugitives, we ran with it. It was kind of fun flavor for the campaign.
  7. Re: Is Mind Scan broken? Mind Scan isn't that easy to work with. The Number of People in the area you are scanning gives you some problems. In this case you have an example of someone trying to find a target within a block. I'd call it around 1,000 minds giving it a -6 Modifier. Finding those targets is not going to be easy.
  8. Re: Starting A New DC Campaign Make them sign a document like the following: "I solomly swear that despite the fact my character is a 'loner' that I will be willing to join a group of individuals to form a team. I sacrifice my desire to work alone in favor of having solid party dynamics. I also swear not to keep secrets from my party unless they are directly related to a disadvantage. I agree that should I violate any term in this clause that the GM has the right to withhold my experience."
  9. Re: Lets cut the crap... I'm keeping the "good" books. I'm keeping the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk Adventure, 3rd Edition Dragon Lance Settings, Forgotten Realms Settings, all of the TMNT books, the Stronghold Building Guide, and a couple of other ones that slip my mind at the moment.
  10. Re: Starting A New DC Campaign That is the job of the GM. And the idea is to start off the first game with each players as loners. Create a case that each of the players skills can contribute to but all players are needed to solve it. Work on them each one at a time in turn at first. If you have an even number of players get them paired of by running into each other in groups of two. If you have an odd number, make on of the groups a group of three. Also instruct the players it is important that their characters be willing to work with others. If carefully constructed, the players will find that working together was beneficial and have a reason to stick together.
  11. Re: Comeliness: Yay, nay or indifferent I really like comeliness as I have stated in the past. Null completely takes out a villain on her own, stands over the defeated villain and says, "...and I looked better in a dress too!" Comeliness is good for trash talking and determining who in a crowd gets the attention when PRE just doesn't cut it. I have also designed powers with limitations based on Comeliness such as "Won't affect people with >20 COM" This is also something that can be used on disadvantages. Psych Limit: Can't Hit a Pretty Face. Pretty being defined as COM 16 or higher.
  12. Re: New VIPER toys Excuse me? VIPER already owns the company and is selling them for money before they use them in action.
  13. Re: A question about Viper and Until Yes, but it was accidental. One of my players accidently blew up a torchie. Instead of reducing the explosion by 1 DC per hex, I reduced the explosion by 1 die per hex. The party survived because of that accident. Boy that was a fun game...
  14. Re: Lets cut the crap... I'm also running a test auction to see if I can sell some of my comics in grab bags. If that works, I'm going to start a huge auction to hopefully bring in $200 - $400 but that money will likely be used to pay off some bills. I get happier the closer I get to D-Day.
  15. Re: Lets cut the crap... Nadrakas, you didn't give out a single A in any of the sub-categories for any of the game systems.
  16. Re: Lets cut the crap... Condsider the fact that for a moment that I'm currently getting ready to start another major batch of AD&D 2nd and 3rd Edition Supplement books to sell on eBay. The first paypal sale I get from this auction is going to be the final bit of money I need to buy an annual subscription for Digital Hero to get me most of the issues they have. Also consider the fact that I'm going to be using the newly saved shelf space to make room for more 5th Supplement books. I like the system a whole lot.
  17. Re: Hello and question about powers and such There really isn't but the VIPER: Coils of the Serpent book and Dark Champions would be a good place to start. Upgrade. It is worth it.
  18. Re: Comeliness: Yay, nay or indifferent I say keep the COM. If you don't like it, just sell back the stat for more points something else.
  19. I'm looking for your powers and disadvantages players have proposed for a character that just made your jaw dropped. I heard of a player in the group who built a character with Susceptability: Wheat. This in turn prompted a desire to make a villain group known only as "The Baker's Dozen".
  20. Re: Most Feared Disadvantage Poor, Unlucky, and sadly, Code vs. Killing seem to be pretty unpopular in my games.
  21. Re: Potential Brain teaser Well one way to do it would be to build it as two seperate powers. For example: 3d6 EB Attack, Uses Personal Endurance +3d6 EB Attack, Used Endurance Reserve
  22. Re: Fumbled Seduction Roll Well, she failed miserably at what she attempted. She certainly tried. It just ticked her off even more, ah the perils of being a villain.
  23. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Zornwil, the population of Maine is 1 million. 230,000 is roughly 25% of the state's population.
