  2. Re: How can I build a power that does all knock-back? Riffing off what JMoz said, I created a character once with Dispel KB Resistance, does KB, double KB. Not strictly rules-legal but it did exactly what the player wanted and worked pretty well in actual play.
  3. Re: The cranky thread “Don't I yearn for the days when a draw across the throat made f***ing resolution.” – Al Swearengen, Deadwood
  4. Re: Generations of Strangers It's always sad when the brave and noble hero dies.
  5. Re: The cranky thread God. As if I needed another reason to hate the LDS.
  6. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine More like an 80s-style glam-rocker (in a fantasy univers), I think. She's too sweet to be a punk.
  7. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine She's a normal human. She dyes her hair (technically, she only dyes it in streaks -- her front locks are colored, everything else is black). Magenta is the normal color, but she's been known to color her locks in all sorts of bizarre shades -- blue, green, purple, etc. Thanks for posting these -- I don't normally follow this thread, which is why it took me so long to find them.
  8. Re: Creepy Pics. All of those words sound like English, but the sentence makes no sense... ?
  9. Re: "Neat" Pictures I had some lovely mitsake at this new Japanese restaurant that opened up near here, just a couple of weeks ago.
  10. Re: "Neat" Pictures Pft. I hated the Disney princesses before it was cool to hate the Disney princesses.
  11. Re: "Neat" Pictures What's Kida from? I don't recognize her.
  12. Re: The Dragon Hunters (Steampunk) Those are some great pics, GA! Love that red velvet chair. Is it an antique?
  13. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! Why did the hipster burn his mouth on his coffee?
  14. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I was a hipster before it was cool to be a hipster.
  15. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I've heard (but I'm not sure how true this is) that the reason the last 20 minutes or so of 2001 don't make sense is that you're supposed to read the final chapter of Clarke's book while that scene is happening. The book and the movie were both created together, and neither one works correctly without the other. They decided that the ideas contained in the last part of the book were too big/complicated to put on screen. Having read that chapter while the movie was running, I can tell you that it actually works pretty well. Of course, it may be that the writer and the director were being pretentious art-house pricks when they came up with that conceit...
  16. I've been tasked to run a villains one-shot at our local con next month, based in the universe of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The opposition is to be the Council of Champions (currently missing their most powerful member, Captain Hammer). But I haven't a lot of time to build characters (and it's not my favorite thing to do anyway), so would anyone like to give a bunneh a hand? Here's what I have: Elemenita (weather powers, alpha-b*tch of the team) Wingspan (Batman homage, except more smarmy than smooth) Mystic Helmet (sorcerer, like Dr. Fate, talks in riddles) Illumina (light powers, cheerleader/ditz personality) Johnny Snow (cold user with an inferiority complex) James Flames (fire user, possibly Johnny's older brother) These would be built as Standard superheroes (400 points + 75 complications, using the guidelines from 6eV1 page 35). Nothing too complex in the builds. 6th edition, preferably, but I'm not super picky -- 5th is fine too if that's all you've got. Any of you character-building-lovers want to take up the challenge and put these together for me in .hdc format? I can repay you with thanks and with a whack from my enormous rep stick.
  17. Re: Order of the Stick Yep, Implosion is level 9 cleric/Destruction domain spell, Earthquake is a level 8 cleric/destruction. Disintegrate is Destruction level 7 (so the Goblin god must have the Destruction sphere since Reddie can't take that as a Cleric). And Redcloak cast Implosion twice, which means he's at least 17th level. Possibly higher, depending on what level of Summon Monster he was using to bring in those demons and the Osmium elemental. EDIT: My mistake... Implosion lasts up to 4 rounds, so he could hit up to 4 someones with a single casting. Still, to cast 9th level spells you gotta be at least 17th level, so he's pretty buff.

  19. Re: Where does it show the price list for Hero system equipment guide. May I recommend "...And a 10 foot pole" from Iron Crown Games? It's got price lists from the stone age to modern times, for all sorts of adventuring (and non-adventuring) equipment. Here's a link: http://www.icewebring.com/ICE_Products/Misc/SS_5703_10_ft_Pole.php
