  1. When I was running Champions in the CU, I made some changes to Seeker up front. I changed him from "Ninja" to "Martial Artist" and gave him some chi abilities ala Iron Fist. I kept the katana, but gave it some neat, mystical properties that allowed it to cut desolid characters, and slice through materials. As he advanced in the campaign, he took on an outfit inspired by Watchers of the Dragon, but that was colored white and red. When the campaign was retired, he was working as a mentor at UNTIL where he trained a group of new heroes.
  2. That doesn't look like Liefeld to me. Maybe someone else in Extreme Studios from the time, but Liefeld's characters would be slightly more exaggerated. It kind of looks like Ian Churchill or someone inked by Art Thibert. Beast Boy's shapeshift? VPP defined as shapeshifting and limited to Multiforms.
  3. I don't believe so, Duke. IIRC, Scott had an entire different Bay City campaign that he ran many moons ago. I have the C:NM one.
  4. I had a villain who used the shadows of others as an attack. The shadow would reach up, grab the person casting it, and pull it into the shadow, causing a damaging effect that was AVLD (Light/Shadow-based Defenses). The person would pop out of a random shadow, which added a limited teleportation effect to it. Made the villain quite creepy at times.
  5. I always lean a bit on fear powers when it comes to shadows. Maybe a PRE boost, or Mind Control (Fear Only) that's linked to Darkness. I've used an EGO Drain in the past that represents the shadows bringing out doubt and despair in a target as well. One of my favorite darkness abilities is using Mind Control (Based on CON) to bring out the darkness in a target.
  6. I don't know about that, @Greywind. It's more about what I'd want the Pawns to look like. For those unfamiliar with them, here's what they look like without bases attached. Easy to store. Could really easily build an army or group.
  7. Yup. Okumarts has the best printable figures IMHO. But I'd like to see a nice box set with sturdy cardboard figures (much like the Pathfinder Pawns style). I've honestly considered it. But a lot of it comes down to what I want them to look like.
  8. On the concept of Standies. I kind of wish more companies would make affordable cardboard minis like the Pathfinder Pawns. Having a slew of Champions Pawns would be awesome to use in a game, and having some generic heroes would be wicked.
  9. I went to add some Movement Skill Levels and noticed that it wasn't in the skill tab. Is there a trick beyond using a Custom Skill?
  10. Pre-COVID, I always found minis useful in a Champions game. In the recent past, I mainly used Heroclix for my minis fix, though I would love to see more generic minis come out. Or Champions Heroclix.
  11. Like Duke mentioned, powers in Hero are effects based with a multitude of descriptions. You could have a character with a 7d6 Blast that's defined as "Laser Beam", "Frost Blast", or even "Junk Debris" with the descriptor being what defines it. In the case of Light Based Powers, Greywind has given a good starting point for powers, but it could go beyond even that list depending on how you define the effects.
  12. Actually, in Mongoose's Traveller 2nd ed. they did away with the whole "death during character creation" bit. They have it as an option in their Companion, however. Beyond going with the free systems, it would depend on what style of game you'd want to run/play. There are a bunch of games on DriveThruRPG that are pretty affordable that go beyond any kind of D&D. Much of it depends on the play style that you choose. Have to agree with Joe here. FATE and FATE Accelerated are both easy to access and play relatively easy. And while I dig FATE, my group had some issues with it. In all of its simplicity, they had problems adapting to it. Unfortunate, as the game is highly adaptable to a variety of concepts. If you were looking at this option, you'd have the following: System: FATE/FATE Accelerated \\ Pay What You Want (PDF) Dice: FATE/Fudge Dice \\ $6+ Map: Ream of Paper/Index Cards \\ $5+ Minis: Not Really Needed.

    Fear AOE?

I think Mind Control (Only to Inspire Fear/Terror -1/2) would work.
  14. a) I would do NND (Grounded) myself. I find that Stun Only doesn't have quite the same effect for electrical effects (like Tasers), since it would be altered by Defenses. b) The auto hit I would stat out as Damage Over Time.
  15. Might have to chip in on this. There are a few books in there I did art for that I don't seem to have anymore.
  16. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll have to play around with a few ideas presented.
  17. The AI idea isn't too bad. I'm almost thinking that they might be something like Agent Smith from The Matrix, but could potentially attempt to "possess" a player character.
  18. So I looked at the Ghost in the 6eB, and I've seen a few other builds that show different ideas on how to build spiritual beings. So my question to you is this: How do you build a spiritual being? This is something that exists more in the ethereal plane than physical one (though may affect the physical at times with Affects Physical World). Do they receive physical stats? Do they buy them down? How do you build them?
  19. Sounds like a Guardians of the Galaxy game with a slightly darker edge.
  20. This is more directed to @Jason S.Walters more than anyone. Is there a chance we might see the 6th ed POD books available in Hardcover?
  21. I think you mean Grognard. Gornad is really close to gonad. Where is everyone going to get their superhero fix? Many play games like Mutants & Masterminds, Supers, or Icons. There seem to be more and more superhero games popping up every day, with no end in sight. I've always seen Cap as having a STR 30, with Commando Training and Shield Training providing extra power as needed. Tricks like Impact Absorption and Inertia Displacement could be part of a Shield Tricks multipower. He also should have some kind of armor. In the comics he wears a chainmail shirt, while in the movies he seems to have some kind of tactical suit.
  22. Maybe. The stats on the page were Hero/Champions stats.
  23. I know for some time, Heroic Publishing had an area on their site dedicated to stats. Haven't seen it in their latest page, but you might be able to find it on the wayback machine or something.
  24. Like @dsatow and @Hugh Neilson I always found mechanical conversion charts a bit uneven. I always recommend looking at the concept of a character and rebuild them in the system, eyeing various caps from the sheet as benchmarks.
