  1. Re: "real" unicorn I recall a book mentioning that unicorns, while resembling horses, actually leap like deer. With that and 2012 getting closer, perhaps weirdness is getting a jump on the future.
  2. Re: Music to Kill Zombies By I assume that's a Mark IV Ogre. I mean, why settle for second best.
  3. Forgive me if this is painfully stupid, but... The description is very brief. I'm thinking of things like Basements or Sub Basements. My assumption is that a Sub Basement would be "Underground" as the top of the base is still below surface, whereas a Basement would not be, as the top is level with the ground. Also, how would the Underground modifier on a base with parts underground?
  4. Re: [Campaign] The new, NEW Champions of Vancouver! [slaps forehead] Damnit, why didn't I think of that-rep for you sir. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with us being his team.
  5. I'm working on a character that uses scorpion venom to paralize his opponents. I guessed it would best be represented by Entangle vs CON. Here's the hitch:Is that an Advantage or a Limitation and what is it worth Entangle vs Ego is +1.5 in advantages and -1 in limitations Mental powers based on CON is is a -1 limitation Your thoughts?
  6. Re: A Question Regarding Limitations That's not "double dipping" at all (aside:I like that term, very apt). No Range indicates that the attacker must be in HTH distance whlie Gestures indicates that the attacker must perform some specific physical action to use the power in question. By removing one, the whole nature of the power changes, either to something like an arm waving spell(Gestures), or a chi strike (No Range). You may wish to consider Restrainable, rather than Gestures, depending on whether or not the attack requires a specific physical action (Grab opponent upon both sides of head with specific arm sweep and finger placement on head) or if it just requires that you grab an opponent (grab at head, make him look me in the eyes).
  7. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Looks like he's throwing a shoggoth grenade. "Go Go Lovecraft Entangle!"
  8. Re: Rest in Peace: Bob Bledsaw A sad time indeed. I was just wondering if its still possible to get The City State of the Invincibel Overlord, then this. I shall make it a quest in his honor.
  9. Has anyone added Blackpowder weapons to a Fantasy game with success? I'm thinking about adding them to mine, but I thought I should hear from experience first. Some of the factors I'm considering: Raw Damage-How much hurt should they deliver? Should it be AP, semi-AP or just RKA? Cost?-How much for a pistol? Musket? Rifle? Should I even have Rifling? Magic compatability?-can one enchant guns? Bullets? Help appreciated.
  10. Re: Steampunk Dalek Doesn't work for me. It looks like a Dalek with stuff added on. Granted, the challenge of doing a steampunk Dalek is a hard one, as they already look like something by Gernsback.
  11. Re: Steampunk Star Wars So cool. must worship.
  12. Re: What's the most useless supplement you'd actually like to see?
  13. Re: I need Post apoc Gang names Frankly, that would scare the hell out of me. The Rippers, The Devils, The Cannibals-all those make sense. What the #^&@ is wrong with people who rule the wasteland by calling themselves the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
  14. Re: I need Post apoc Gang names The Psychopomps (all female) The Atlas Boys (bodybuilders) The Low Numbers (hard luck) The Maniax-lead by The Exalted Grand Bullmoose They're all taken from the Dark Future novels.
  15. Re: A Catgirl Miniature Sculpts are nice, but too much cat, not enough girl. Of course, the last thing I need is more painting projects, I'm months behind.
  16. Re: Astonishing, if true... They'd need to loot the "Geo-Mod" functions from Red Faction so PCs and NPCs can trash and use the environment. After all, what good is being a brick if you can't tear up the street and bash people with any convenient object.
  17. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Idol Talk by Sharon Apple from the Macross Plus soundtrack. Seriously, pick it up, its awsome.
  18. Re: R.I.P. Steve Gerber For Thundarr, he has my lasting respect and thanks.
  19. Re: The Summoned Menace I'm biased against Summon, purely because its an extra character to track in a game. One or two is no problem, but if a someone is popping these things off constantly...ug If the character is supposed to summon lots of these things, try Continuous powers with Physical Investment on an attack power. Much simpler.
  20. Re: Fairytale Princess Template There's a career for Fantasy Hero...Can't you just picture the advertisments? "Worried about your daughter being part of a Virgin Sacrifice? We Can Help! We guarantee your daughter will never be used as a Virgin Sacrifice. One low payment of 20 pieces of Gold, or one cow and in just One Evening, your daughter will be 100% Virgin Sacrifice Proof. We use a secret technique from the mystic East to ensure your daughter's permenent safety against Virgin Sacrifices. Contact Sir Driot de Seignuer at the Lucky Saddle Tavern. Ask about our Group Rates." Of course, apologies to Comic, I have less willpower.
  21. Re: From bloodthirsty deity to nonbloodthirsty hero If I may offer an ultra nerd inspired solution Years ago, I was watching an episode of Dr. Who, wherein he was visting the Aztecs. When one of the companions asked about the human sacrifice, a high preist responded "The gods send us messengers, why should we not do the same?" Not really bloodthirsty, so much as humans wanting to make absolutly sure that their prayers were heard.
  22. Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads Edsel is right, the Hero System Almanac II has rules for nukes, but they're pre-Megascale, so the costs are much higher than under current rules. Step 8 in the above effects may not be appropriate for tac-nukes, as it would result from a more traditional exchange of nuclear gifts. Long ago, I posted a similar question on the Townhall forums (long long ago) and was wisely informed that nukes do whatever the heck they want-they're nukes. If the gm says you die-you die.
  23. Re: Magical Healing, it's not for Clerics. If you can find it, examine Rolemaster (Iron Crown Enterprises). They have two styles of Healer, one of which heals as you describe. The Spell Law book may be the one you want, but check out Character and Campaign Law as well. After they take the wound onto themselves, they reflexively autocast the apropriate "heal self" spell. Makes the buggers darn near impossible to kill at even middle levels of experience. Down side of looking at Rolemaster is looking at Rolemaster. I've played it for years and still only understand about 25%.
  24. Re: [Campaign] The new, NEW Champions of Vancouver! Fun session. Sadly I was character making during most of it. He's posted above, where I shall endevor to update him after each session.
