  1. Re: Help with a Name What is the character's cultural background? Who game him his powers?
  2. Re: What is a pip and how much damage does it do? Old, I feel so ... Old...
  3. Re: Deathstroke In the DC universe, Deathstroke, Batman, and Superman form a vicious circle. When Deathstroke came to Gotham, He beat Bats largely because he's more vicious in combat (being an assasin). Later Superman brought him in because Slade couldn't hurt him and couldn't hide from his super-senses. It has been shown on multiple occasions that Batman can both outsmart Supes and has both the krypotonite and the contingency plans to take Superman down. Each one can take down one of the others and has a weakness to the third.
  4. Re: PBEM Submissions: NorCal Heroes! Oh yeah, are you using perks and everyman skills? (And if so, which everyman skills?)
  5. Re: PBEM Submissions: NorCal Heroes! How do you feel about VPP's? Specifically a magician with a "Spell Pool" that can be changed only between adventures (by hitting the old spell books), but could be set up with just about any kind of spell I could sell you on. On a different tack, how about characters who can't really hide thier distinctive features (like Marvel's Beast)?
  6. Re: Difference between Ultraviolet Perception and Nightvision? UV vision needs a source of UV light. Night Vision only works in natural darkness rather than the power Darkness (it only offsets vision penalties to PER roll and therefore does not work in situations were you would not get a PER roll).
  7. Re: Favorite Superhero Lines Nova of the New Warriors fighting AIM agents: "There is NO way I'm going to lose a fight with a bunch of guys from an Intell Inside comercial!"
  8. Re: Hiding from Detect Normally you would get to put limitations on it like self only and no range , but hey, if it's a spell then why not buy enough area to cover your whole lair and all your vampire henchmen/brides?
  9. Re: Hiding from Detect The Change Environment power has a built in ability to affect PER rolls (and Detect rolls). This is how "Stealth" effects are typically written up.
  10. Re: Demigod of Everything I know someone who wrote up a three-god pantheon for a live action fantasy game. The first god was the god of everything in the universe that was big. The second was the god of everything small. His character's patron was the god of everything else .
  11. Re: So why do you play Hero? I can create exactly the character I want, in as much detail as I want. Oh, and I can punch sombody in the face and knock them out without killing them. (It's amazing to me how many systems overlook that.)
  12. Re: Do Lower Powered Player Characters Lead To More Roleplaying? I think the idea of Low Points = good roleplaying comes from the fact that only roleplayers are usually willing to consider playing a low points game at all. Power gamers usually seek out greener pastures. Problem is, a bad gamer can hose the system with ANY point limit. Give me 50 points or 500; If I want to, I can write up a character who will run rough-shod over the most carefully crafted scenario. You can't use game mechanics to force people be good players. Personally, I prefer "high" point games as I like to write up complete characters with detailed background skills, talents, power stunts, etc. I find low point games frustrating because all the characters feel the same. Not to mention the fact that I need more than the standard points just to write my real world self up ( and I prefer to play characters that are MORE heroic than I am, thank you very much).

  17. Re: Can I get a list please? Pretty much the usual for any message boards: Religion, Politics, and House Rules. Oh, and anything involving hot lesbian gamers!

    Mystic Champions

Re: Mystic Champions As far as I know, Mystic World is devoted to magical happenings in the Chamions Universe so it may or may not be helpful to you. Archane Adversaries is might be usefull for inspiration as I believe it contains alot of writeups. I'd go for Ultimate Mystic first. It is devoted to the subject of mystical characters and magical systems for all genres and is a damn good read. It's the book to have if you're not sure what you want.
  19. Re: Scavenging game materials Also from the Herogames website
  20. Re: Help me with my Champions plot
  21. Re: Why can't Teleport do the Move attacks? I'd give Secret Service agents more than a 2 speed, but I agree with the sentiment. As far as the comic books go, Nightcrawler clearly has an autofire attack for use against single foes (usually drawn as a single panel with a cluster of "bamph" clouds surrounding the target each with a Nightcrawler fist or foot emerging from it).
  22. Re: Women! I see you haven't purchased a comic book in the last decade and a half.
  23. Re: Last minute ideas for Sunday's game Two things: 1) why don't the police care about magic? If magic is know in the world, then the cops would at least want to make sure someone quailied was on the case (which the heroes clearly aren't). 2) If none of the PC's are mystics, then who is? Smart players will want to find a mystic hero to consult with (as will the police I would imagine). You should probably have someone on standby, or a reason no mystic heroes are available.
  24. Re: Props and your PCs I run my game almost entirely from my laptop these days. Herodesigner character sheets/combat records, mp3 playlists for theme/background music, and photo references. I'd use a die roller program but I prefer the feel of dice in my hand. My group uses a formalized system of photoreferences dubbed "Bodycasting". Basically, every PC and significant NPC is described as looking like a particular celebrity (actor, musician, athelete, model, public figure) in the real world who becomes thier physical model in the game. We keep computer files of pictures of people we like to cast in games and draw from them in the same way a casting director might cast a movie. "I need a tall, sexy, femme fatale type. How about Famke Janssen?" It really adds a sense of (cinematic) realism when you can not only describe a character as being cute/intimidating/scuffy/distinguished/what-have-you, but show them a picture and let them react according to thier own preconceptions. With programs like Photoshop, we can even "morph" pictures for aliens and fantasy races. I have a little turntable thing I stole from work that I set my laptop on during games. If I want to show my players a picture, I just spin my computer around, then spin it back to look at my notes.
