  1. Re: Order of the Stick I think that perhaps we will see Belkar ending up the hero of this story arc. It would be proper humorus irony if the only evil party member saves the other two (Roy and Hally).
  2. Re: What are "vitals" I still think that this is the strongest evidence that 13 is not necessarily the nads.
  3. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I just recently got around to watching National Treasures (not the new one the original one). I like it quite a bit.
  4. Re: 2008 Projects Continuing my Fringeworth Hero game (I guess it is a sort of Star Hero variant). Possibly trying to get my Weekend Warriors campaign brought back to life (Dark Champions). Helping a prospective new GM for our group in putting together a Warhammer 40K Hero game (definitely Star Hero).
  5. Re: What are "vitals" That just about perfectly agrees with my line of thinking about it.
  6. Re: Your "2008" Pet Gaming Projects I have been curious about how this is coming along.
  7. Re: What are "vitals" Indeed, but it was this result playing with the dice roller that got me to wondering if there was an official ruling as to what location 13 was. I was happy to see the p415 reference since it reinforced what I have always remembered the official stance to be. I believe that the UMA reference deals with that specific form of attack. In other words that specific maneuver targets that particular vital area so in that case an athletic cup provides protection. On page 488 the Armor Coverage Table says that a "Short Vest" protects areas 12-13. This implies to me that the short vest covers the stomach and the vital areas of the chest. A short vest that covered the stomach and the groin would basically be bullet-proof diapers which is a really silly mental image. While I cannot find a specific reference in 4th Edition it uses the same armor coverage table.
  8. How do you define the hit location "vitals" in your game? There seems to be a generally held view that the vitals equal the groin. But I can find no basis for this in the rules. Perhaps someone can point out where in the rules vitals are defined? Personally I have always felt that saying the vitals is the groin is rather silly. As long as I have been playing Hero System / Champions (early 1980s) my groups have always defined vitals to be more than just the groin. The "chest" is any part of the upper trunk of the body except for vital organs (for instance, the heart). The "stomach" is any part of the abdomen except for the major arteries and or other areas likely to cause a greatly increased chance of fatal wounds. Thus we have always defined the "vitals" to be a area from the heart down through the central torso and abdomen where vital organs are located (including the groin). In our game a vitals hit is generally considered to be a heart hit. How do others define the vitals?
  9. Re: Your "2008" Pet Gaming Projects Dark Champions: Trying to get my Weekend Warriors campaign restarted after a hiatus of about a year.
  10. Re: Is this worth a -1/4 lim Shocking discussion... just shocking.
  11. Re: Fantasy Hero Printing Error Yep, I've got the same problems with my copy of the Fantasy Hero hardback.
  12. Re: New organization book question... They need to update the description in the Online Store then. Here is the description given there (bold text done by me): It doesn't bother me though, I'll buy a copy as soon as my FLGS gets a shipment in.

    Good News.

Re: Good News. I guess I need to get around to seeing the first movie.
  14. Re: Mental Deflection The same rules for Mental Deflection (yes, it is actually called that) are on pages 75 and 78 of The Ultimate Mentalist. It works exactly as Fedifensor says. Of course such a power would not work against normal attacks (physical attacks and energy blasts).
  15. Re: Population Of Island Three Colonies According to this website the colony would support an autonomous population of between 3 and 10 million. Pretty broad range. I am still using my google-fu to see what else I can dig up. EDIT: Here is another site with some information. It agrees 3-10 million but also states a possibility of "10s of millions." EDIT2: Here is one more source that states a population of about 10 million.
  16. Re: Twas The Night Before Christmas - Champions Style! I read it. It is nice and amusing. I just don't know what I could add.
  17. Re: Has anyone done a skilled normals game I did it with a Zombies game. It worked out pretty well. With low combat skills the level of terror was greatly enhanced. I also think that low-powered games are more rewarding for the players, getting 2 XP means a lot more to 25+25 characters. My advice is to be careful such characters are much more fragile. That can enhance the tension in the game which is a good thing. But if players die too easily or are overwhelmed too often they may start to think why bother.
  18. Re: Weekend Warriors -- Campaign Log I have all of the campaign data and characters saved. My intention is to eventually be able to continue the campaign. However the soonest I can possibly envision being able to get most of the gang back together would be this Spring. When we do restart we may not have the exact same line-up of players. Sweeper, Choir Boy and D-Man would certainly return but that is all I can say for certain. Those are my goals but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men.
  19. Re: +1 PER is on wich page? See Enhanced Perception on page 163.
  20. Re: 1 pip RKA, Penetrating As I understand it, it will do 1 BODY past defenses (unless those defenses are hardened). This sort of write-up is often used to simulate things like small cutting torches, incenerators, etc.
  21. Re: Mis-matched Team Members Very good. Repped.
  22. Re: Skills for a Genetisis Telios is on page 134 of Champions Universe.
  23. Re: Mounted Machinegun Makes sense to me.
  24. The characters in my campaign have been issued a HMMWV with a Pintle-Mounted M2HB .50 Caliber Machinegun. Would they need WF: Vehicle Weapons (2 points) or would General Purpose/Heavy Machineguns (1 point) be sufficient?
