    Character Names

Re: Character Names Many and varied ways. Often I just brainstorm until I come-up with something I like. My Super-Mage in our rarely played Champions game is Enigma. Gee, magic pretty relevant sounding name. In our Fantasy Hero game my character is a Bard named Torean Norhill, I actually got that one from a list of names the GM provided. In our current Cyberpunk Hero game my female cyborg is named Trace Synthia Dexter. She has very good computer and cyber-web skills, hence Trace. Only her brain and spinal cord are natural, hence Synthia. She has a 23 DEX (highest among the Player Characters) , hence Dexter.
  2. Re: A Thread for Random Videos An amazing performance from five girls who look to be pretty young. They start off a little weak but within a few seconds it becomes a pretty spectacular singing job.
  3. Re: Susano Needs Your Help! Had a few minutes of free time so here is your Phoenix in HD format.
  4. Re: Susano Needs Your Help! You know the Phorusrhacids is my design (or at least I am pretty sure that is my write-up) and the HD file is in the Hero Vault. I am happy people are using it and obviously it is free. The duplication of effort is a shame though. Kind of odd how that paragraph about crocodiles got added in to their description though, my copy doesn't have that.
  5. Re: Gunkata Swiped and copied.
  6. Has anybody written-up the Gunkata from the movie Equilibrium? I am pondering this but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already done it.
  7. Re: Tracer Bullet I think I will go with the Requires A Skill Roll method, in this case an attack roll. Originally I had thought about this just being a device used to tag vehicles and the like but since our game is set in 2068 I imagine that a version usable against humans probably realistic. If the target character is wearing body armor or heavy clothing they'd be unlikely to notice the bug. Thanks all for the help. Now I just have to figure out how to categorize this in our equipment book. It is a (1) Sensor/Scanner, (2) A Weapon, (3) Something else?
  8. Re: Tracer Bullet This problem stems from a Cyber-Hero game that I am a part of. Specifically I am trying to build the gun in the attached picture. "The ID Sniper" The skill Bugging and the actual build of the tracer itself are pretty simple. I am just having a hard time getting my head around how a character manages to plant a bug at extreme range. The rifle should be good to a range of about 1000 meters (500").
  9. This is a bullet that can be fired at a, for instance, a car. The bullet contains a tracking bug. So the point is you shoot a fleeing car in the trunk and then you can track them due to the bug the bullet just planted. According to Dark Champions a tracking bug is normally built as Images to Radio Group with a single continuing charge to represent the battery life of the bug. The real question is how to build a gun and bullet delivery system that works with this?
  10. Re: Jokes Proof That a Dog is Man's Best Friend Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car for an hour. When you open it see which one is truely happy to see you.
  11. Re: What makes an Advantage Naked? Argh. You are right I forgot that I'd still have to buy the PD and ED separately. Oh well it is for equipment in a heroic game so the point totals really don't have a cap, I'll just buy the Naked Advantage with a 0 END Advantage.
  12. Re: What makes an Advantage Naked? For my original vehicle question the cheapest solution is to keep the vehicle's base DEF at two (or buy it down to 0) and then buy armor instead.
  13. I have already posted a possible bug report to Simon because I think that Hero Designer has this wrong, but perhaps I am missing something. I am building a vehicle. I buy Hardened as a Naked Advantage for its DEF. This Naked Advantage should not cost END. Do I have this correct?
  14. Re: "Groan" <help for amored suit> Did a quick peak at your other thread. You bought the armor as OIHID (-1/4). A much more sensible way to buy it. This means that you can use the same Limitation for all of your sensors and radio stuff. High Range Radio Hearing: 12 points OIHID (-1/4) = 10 points. Infrared Perception: 5 Points, OIHID (-1/4) = 4 points. Ultraviolet Perception: 5 points (-1/4) = 4 points. Ultrasonic Perception: 5 points (-1/4) = 4 points. That's a 22 point package that will let you hear and broadcast on the entire radio spectrum. See in the IR and UV wavelengths and hear into the Ultrasonic range. PS the nice thing about senses is that the cost no END and the High Range Radio will let you hear active Radar! EDIT: Okay there are two different armored suit threads active out there. In case you went the OIF route you will have a (-1/2) limitation which will cut the cost of that 22 point package to 17 points. Radio 12 (-1/2) Limitation = 8 points. Each 5 point sense with a (-1/2) Limitation = 3 points each.
  15. Re: "Groan" <help for amored suit> Haven't kept up with the other thread, which I assume was yours, but I'll give it a try. If you armored suit covers your whole body then any radio and/or sensors that you want should automatically be considered to be a part of it and therefore will benefit from the armor that the suit provides. That is done as a freeby (no extra cost). You can buy most of the enhanced senses with the same limitations that your armor has. For instance if your armor is bought as an OIF (Obvious Inaccessable Focus) then any senses can also have that limitation applied to them. Example: Radio Perception/Transmission costs 10 points. Bought as an OIF (-1/2) the cost would be 10/(1 + 1/2) or 10/1.5 = 7 points. This only gives you AM, FM, and police-bands. For 12 points Buy High Range Radio and get access to the whole radio spectrum for 12/1.5 = 8 points. Infrared Perception is cheap 5 points. Bought through an OIF it is 5/1.5 = 3 points. Hope that helps some.
  16. Re: Cyber Hero Okay, Cyber Hero didn't happen. How do the plans for a 6th Edition Hero affect your plans for an updated Kazei 5?
  17. Re: Untrained & Familiarity skills As I recall the semi-official rules for this are... If a character tries to use any skill untrained then the base chance of success is 6-. The GM has the choice as to whether or not a character should be allowed to make an untrained skill roll. No levels can be applied to an Untrained skill roll, though at the GM's options situational modifiers (positive and/or negative) can apply. It is probably wise the cap the roll at 8- no matter how many positive modifiers apply. Also if a GM decides to use Untrained Skill Rolls in his campaign he may want to consider not providing Everyman Skills.
  18. Re: A Thread for Random Videos A twisted version of Singing In The Rain. pretty seamless editing.
  19. Re: Cool Guns for your Games My 1911 is a Series 80 model. I have had it customized some. I have short fingers so I have an extended slide release. I have a dove-tailed safety. I also had the action worked and smoothed over by a local gunsmith who works exclusively on the M1911. The gun is stainless steel with the satin finish.
  20. Re: Cool Guns for your Games A friend of mine had an M1917 Colt Army .45 Revolver. That was a sweet gun. My favorite personal firearm is my M1911A1.
  21. Re: Who's Who on the Champions Online forums? I have an account as me (Edsel) but I have been entirely too busy to spend much time there, let alone post anything.
  22. Re: Jokes Picture on the Night Stand After a long night of making love, he notices a photo of another man on her nightstand by the bed. He begins to worry. "Is this your husband?" he nervously asks. "No, silly," she replies, snuggling up to him. "Your boyfriend, then?" he continues. "No, not at all," she says, nibbling away at his ear. "Is it your dad or your brother?" he inquires, hoping to be reassured. "No, no, no! You are so hot when you're jealous!" she answers. "Well, who in the hell is he, then?" he demands.
  23. Re: Hudson City as Pulp city? That's a cool idea. I'd eagerly pay for a Hero Plus supplement that gave an overview for using Hudson City in a pulp-era campaign. It'd just need to have a rundown of what is different in Hudson City 1930 as opposed to modern-day Hudson City. In 1930 what occupies locations now occupied by modern buildings? What gangs were operating in the city, what rackets were they involved in, etc.
  24. Re: Motion Dependant Predatory Vision If you are building something like a Dinosaur low INT score will automatically lower the Perception roll some. You can always use a physical limitation to lower it more. Building a Detect Movement sense might be an option.
  25. Re: Hudson City as Pulp city? Yes, it is based in modern day. However, I have often thought it would be fun to run a street-level Dark Champions game set in the Hudson City of the 1920s and 30s. There is historical background given for the city and I don't think much work would have to be done to convert the setting into the Pulp era. It would certainly be easier than trying to put together something from scratch.
