  1. Re: HERE THERE BE DRAGONS: A Medieval Bestiary Awww, no fae? !kidding! It's great as is. Thank you for sharing.
  2. Re: Making Inexpensive 3D Maps [graphics intensive] What's a 'hot knife'? Some professional way to slice up styrofoam? I'd say the squirrel has it looking just fine.
  3. Re: What If . . . Superman E-bay merchant: Extremely flexible schedule, and it's less likely his co-workers would notice the similarities to his secret ID. Because he wouldn't have co-workers. High School Teacher: Superman stops people after they become crooks. Clark Kent could guide them before they do.
  4. Re: Name for a fictional city I'd imagine the city might partly base it's name on the name of the old hero's team. What was it?
  5. Re: Early "What do you want to see?" for Teen Champions Oh, and the Extracurricular Activity might not be structured or social. It just has to demand time and induce stress. Following your example of the kid who liked Anime, but didn't have a club in his school, The character, faced with the Anime Hobbiest limitation would make it a matter of pride to be up on all the latest material, probably spending 3 or 4 hours a day watching it, reading newspots about it, etc. If he doesn't manage to allot enough time, the GM has the NPC from the other school district show up and grind his nose in how far behind the character has gotten.
  6. Re: Early "What do you want to see?" for Teen Champions Well they might. As long as they were wearing the underwear AND pants. With the underwear on the outside.
  7. Re: Early "What do you want to see?" for Teen Champions House rule I like for teens: Mandatory Social limitation: Extracurricular activity (not usually worth any points, but it's great flavor material.) Examples include After School Job Sports Team Academic Club (such as photography, chess, math) Girlfriend (yes, you can have this and DNPC at the same time. It just means you'll have to spend time with your girl and make her feel special in addition to saving her from the loonies) Organization I'd like to see: Military is to PRIMUS as Boyscouts is to ____________. Basically, a national organization with chapters in many cities for gifted youth. mutant scouts, if you will. (and no, the cookies are not made from real mutants)
  8. Re: Empowering items My pick would be Major Transform: Gizmo into gizmo that doesn't need charges, Costs END to maintain transformation (ask a GM how much end). Either that or Minor Transform: Gizmo into Gizmo with all its charges back. A very cool power, but it does need scrutiny. Not only Would I not allow you to have any charges related toys (Though I would allow you to put Costs end on them to simulate expending charges and poofing them back into place), but I'd be reticient about letting you have it if teammates had lots of charges-using gizmos.
  9. Re: Champions Universe Complete? I wouldn't mind seeing an apocalypse hero book. Make it a worldwide thing, so that you can have different apocolypse styles in different areas. Southern California becomes a Zombie Apocalypse The Southeastern states fall to Militia groups (as in the book "the postman") The Northeastern states have some fuel production still, and have road ravagers/autoduels, etc. The wild ravagers keep the Feudal Militias at bay. Midwest is the Scary Radioctive Desert. With mutants.
  10. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade Okay, Succor it is, though I do wonder if I can claim it's still holy ground without the CE. This is the Final Build Vial of ParadiseSuccor 4d6; Succor EGO and RECOVERY at the Same Time +½, Delayed Effect +¼, Area of Effect (32†Radius) +2¼, (80) ; Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3; OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Requires PS: Priest Skill Roll (−1 per 20 active points) −¼ 12 points Possible Add-ons include Radiant Paradise Images (sight group), 32" Radius +1¼, Delayed Effect +¼; Only to Create Light −1, Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3; OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Requires PS: Priest Skill Roll (−1 per 20 active points) −¼, Linked −½ 3 Points Comfortable Paradise Life Support Cold/ Heat, Delayed Effect +¼, Area of Effect (up to 32â€) +2½, Usable by other (up to 64 people, more if the recovery is spread thinner) +2 (23) ; Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3; OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Linked −½ 3 points
  11. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade Doesn't 'limiting' a power with a charge, continuing or otherwise, take care of the END problem anyway?
  12. Re: Champions Universe Complete? Complete? Going from the Hero Universe PDF, and cross refrencing, here are all the "Settings", with those that will be done in Italics FANTASY PRIMEVAL (100,000 TO 75,000 BC) TURAKIAN AGE(73,000 - 65,000 BC) VALDORIAN AGE (50,000 BC TO 33,000 BC) ATLANTEAN AGE (32,000 TO ~30,000 BC) *insert Cataclysm Here* THE WORLD OF TUALA MORN (28,000 BC TO 20,000 BC) AGE OF LEGENDS (20,000 BC TO 11,000 BC) AGE OF HEROES (10,000 BC TO 200 BC) [subset of Classical Age] ROMAN EMPIRE (200 BC TO 400 AD) [subset of Classical Age] ARTHURIAN HERO (400 AD to 900 AD) [subset of Medieval Age] FANTASY EUROPE (900 TO 1500 AD) [subset of Medieval Age] SWASHBUCKLING HERO (1500 TO 1650 AD) [subset of Early Modern Period] PIRATE HERO (1650 TO 1750) [subset of Early Modern Period] REVOLUTIONARY HERO (1770 TO 1799) [subset of Early Modern Period] VICTORIAN HERO (1837 TO 1910) [subset of the 1800's] WESTERN HERO (1866 TO 1890) [subset of the 1800's] PULP HERO (1920 TO 1940) [subset of the Modern Era] GOLDEN AGE CHAMPIONS (1939 TO 1945) [subset of the Modern Era] WAR HERO (1939 TO 1945) [subset of the Modern Era] SILVER AGE CHAMPIONS (1965 to 1980) [subset of the Modern Era] DANGER INTERNATIONAL (1950 TO 1990) [subset of the Modern Era] CHAMPIONS (1980 TO 2020) [subset of the Modern Era] DARK CHAMPIONS (1985 TO 2020) [subset of the Modern Era] CYBER HERO (2020 TO 2080) SOLAR HERO (2080 TO 2200) INTERSTELLAR ERA (2200 TO 2300) ALIEN WARS (2300 TO 2400) TERRAN EMPIRE (2400 TO 2700) GALACTIC FEDERATION (2700 to 3000 GALACTIC CHAMPIONS (3000 and beyond) We've got a long way to go! Now, the list here I just copied, so they aren't all 'settings'. some are more genre books that have settings for them (Dark Champions is the one on the list, but it's setting book is Hudson City)
  13. Re: Explosion and Reducing the 1DC/x" I'm not getting it. You bought it as the big explosion? and want to shink it down? Then no. You can't. I do allow 1/4 advantages, based on variable advantage, that allow you to scale things like that.
  14. Re: Which organization will directly oppose Demon? Dude, there's only one Kara. That's not enough for a whole team.
  15. Re: Which organization will directly oppose Demon? Oooh, ANGEL! A group formed by a coalition of christian groups, devoted to fending off cult-based supers and mystics. Of course, we would need the acronym to go with that . . . American's Nightly Gutting Evil Legions
  16. Re: The Human Polygraph I've wondered about this ability too. Detect (truth/lie) would seem to be the most obvious, but I think that , Rules-wise, you'd have to use limited Telepathy
  17. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade And yet, it could be argued that negative effects are the domain of Drains. The only thing I don't like about the Fade Rate is that it Fades, as opposed to existing and then suddenly stopping. I want a little slice of heaven that lasts for a few hours and then poof's away, like a carriage turning back into a pumpkin. I wonder if Succor would work if it had the continuing charge. I mean, I'm gonna have to put the charge limitation on there anyway, it might as well be continuous. That would be nice, because I could slap on a recovery succor too.
  18. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade I wanted the area to provide absolutely heavenly rest, so +2 Recovery (4 points); Delayed Effect +¼, Area of Effect (up to 32â€) +2½, Usable by other (up to 64 people, more if the recovery is spread thinner) +2 (23) ; Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3; OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Linked −½ 3 points
  19. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade Okay, Here's the writeup thus far: Paradise Grenade: Change Environment 8†Radius, +2 to Ego Rolls; Delayed Effect +¼ (28.75 Active Points); Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3, OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Requires PS: Priest Skill Roll (−1 per 20 active points) −¼ Total Cost: 4 points +2 Radius Doublings (to 32â€); Delayed Effect +¼ (12.5 Active Points); Concentration (Zero DCV Throughout) −1, Extra Time (One Hour to Extract and Brew) −3; OAF Fragile −1¼, One Continuing Charge Lasting Six Hours −0, Actual Size Increase Depends on how many people make an Ego Roll −½, Linked −½ A quick explination: The Extra time, Concentration, and Skill Roll all reflect the brewing and extracting process. The Delayed Effect and the OAF represents the little glass vial containing the elixir. It lasts six hours. Now The first power on there means the field covers an 8" radius circle. The second says that it can grow up to 32", depending on how many people make their ego rolls (if half the people make them, it grows to 16", if a quarter of the people make them, it grows to 12") I used Ego because its good for representing faith and willpower. Now I just need an Aid Recovery with Area of effect. Or should it be bought as a characteristic with Area of Effect and Usable by other (a whole lotta people). I'll have to give it some thought
  20. Re: Build Help: Paradise Grenade oop! Says it right there. "It . . . cannot provide positive effects or bonuses to any character". I don't really understand why, but that's what it says. So, anything pleasant my vial unleashes should be represented by . . . an Aid I guess. I wonder if the flowers thing should just be SFX. Now, I was going to use the classic -0 limitation "1 continuing charge, lasts six hours". What does that do to an Aid? Does it mean it keeps aiding, like a constant power?
  21. Okay, I want to give my cleric-type access to a little bottle of elixer derived from the essence of holy flowers. When smashed on the floor, the immediate area blooms in beautiful flowers and an air of peace and hope pervades the area. I started off thinking this would be a varient of Change Environment, largely because FREd cites 'making flowers bloom' as an example of this power on page 90. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide a writeup of this. All the writeups that are provided use examples of Change Environment using one of the "combat effects", like sight penalties. Can I make a Change Environment that doesn't do anything unpleasant? If anything, I'd like it to provide a bonus to something. Ego rolls, maybe. Or maybe just be able to say the area is "holy" or "consecrated" for the duration of the change environment. Can I do that without Transform?
  22. Re: What I have planned for my players tommarrow I'd say grabbing the plane is almost as good as the plans. No matter what he steals from the base, I doubt he could get all copies of the plans, or at least all components of the plans (the wheel assembly is on engineer A's computer, and the fuel tank model is still on engineer b's desk, etc). If he has the plane, he can study it and figure out appropriate counter measures. If I were this guy, I'd see if I could send along a WMD to take out the base, the plans, and the engineers who made them.
  23. Re: Acro is bored Shhh. It's his girlfriend. He doesn't like you talking about it like that. Gets jealous easy and all that.
  24. Re: Fire Extinguisher Go Boom Exactly. And Hero simulates Film/Television/comic book reality, not our reality. It's genre. Let it explode if you shoot it.
  25. Re: HUDSON CITY: What Do *You* Want To See? On a side note, I would say that emergency services should reach their destination in 1d6* Five Minutes. Meaning, roll a six-sider, get a two, and your character recieves attention from trained paramedics in 10 minutes. Seems fast, but if you can't stop your bleeding, it probably won't be fast enough. Actually, 2d6*Five Minutes might be more realistic. Also, sometimes ambulances won't go into 'bad neighborhoods' without a police escort, and that worsens response times considerably.
