  1. Re: Ultimate Base Shelved? *looks up modifiers for the "Move Zig" maneuver*
  2. Re: SF: Slither It makes sense to me, too. Maybe it would have been better to repeat "Resembles a giant centipede" four times, but I can definitely see how you were trying to avoid that repetitiveness. Of course, I know what a Slither is, too, so maybe I had an advantage there.
  3. Re: SF: Slither Giant centipede. He broke the "giant" powers and the "centipede" powers out separately.
  4. Re: Conan vs. Elric The survival rate isn't what you'd call great for any of them, but Elric girls suffer the most in that respect.
  5. Re: Normal Human Having NCM on the initial build may not limit the character, but it does limit how the character develops from there. If you say a character that's supposed to be a "trained normal" can't take NCM because he starts with nothing above 20, there's nothing mechanics-wise stopping him from bumping his STR up to 50 within a few game sessions. Using GM fiat to say he can't buy his STR up because of the original character concept and disallowing the use of NCM as a Disad is as bad or worse than the opposite situation where the character is getting a "free" 20 points.
  6. Re: Martian Airplanes? I'm not sure how much lifting power you'd be able to get from a gasbag in such a thin atmosphere. At any rate, air travel is certainly not going to be easy on Mars. The best thing to do is work on getting a reliable road system built as early as possible.
  7. Re: Star Frontiers: The Ethics of Needlers SF has a strong nostalgia factor for a lot of us. The system has its drawbacks, but Heroizing it eliminates that issue.
  8. Re: Star Frontiers: The Ethics of Needlers The flip side was pretty messed up too. If your buddy got shot 9 times, and was at death's door, you could do an hour or so of surgery and he'd be back in top form.
  9. Re: Fantasy Art Thread You mean you don't look like your avatar?
  10. Re: Yet Another HPA -- Into The Unknown: Expeditioneering Rules You know, a lot of people find it all very tedious (and I can see where they're coming from), but I've always been nerd enough to enjoy planning expeditions. Back when we were playing AD&D, and the Dungeoneer's Survival Guide had first come out, I had a lot of fun planning for the Tsojcanth expedition, deciding whether it would be better to use sheep as pack animals/sustenance or use mules to carry rations in and treasure out. This should be an interesting read.
  11. Re: Star Frontiers: The Ethics of Needlers Star Frontiers just had a frontier-wide overview of what was available, without going much into legalities. I would expect that in most civilized areas most of those weapons are not legal. I mean, machine guns were part of the Alpha Dawn weapons list. How could any city allow just anyone who could scrape up the money to walk around town with a high-caliber automatic weapon? The points made above about using needlers for hunting are great, but no one would be hunting with them in an urban area. Tranquilizer rounds might be allowed for self-defense purposes, but the barbed kind are going to be regulated in populated areas.
  12. Re: strange site Once again, this is the Pulp Hero forum. Of course the Bermuda Triangle has all sorts of craziness going on, and so, likely, do the Great Lakes. There are Sasquatches roaming the northwest, yetis in the Himalayas, and dinosaurs on various islands, plateaus, and pockets in the interior of the earth. Magicians use powers beyond the ken of men, and scientists build impossible devices. This is the Pulp Hero forum.
  13. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See? That's not a bad idea...Manual of the Machine, Tome of the Undying King, etc.
  14. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares That one is totally pr0n.
  15. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See?
  16. Re: strange site Look at what forum it's posted in, O ye skeptics. Now drop the cynicism, put on your fedora, and speculate about who built this complex and what might still be lurking there.
  17. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See? You could still have Me-kan An, the demon who can only affect the real world by possessing a specially prepared golem...
  18. Re: Post Hypnotic Command No one can talk to a horse.
  19. Re: Fae Court/Hellfire club idea Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell has some good descriptions of some fairy kingdoms, although in some ways, it's still quite vague.
  20. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See? I can't help but think that the result of Mechanon hooking up with another robot or computer would be more processing power for his next extermination scheme.
  21. Re: urban fantasy hero posts Hmm..I'd be pretty interested in how you're planning to build the cyberware. IIRC, you weren't too keen on the way it was done in 4th ed.
  22. Re: Close Your Nose Chris's Extra Limbs build is the way to go, IMO. The price is right too, for the level of usefulness you get from it.
