    Roll 3d6.

If you roll exactly 11, you hit a DCV equal to your OCV.
If you roll below 11, you hit a DCV one point better than your OCV for each point you roll below 11.
If you roll above 11, you hit a DCV one point worse than your OCV for each point you roll above 11.

It sounds slightly complicated to write out in words, but it's very easy to do in play. I've never really encountered a player who struggled with it...

EDIT: Obviously, this is the same thing greypaladin_01 suggested above; it's just a different way of getting there that generally lets you add or subtract smaller numbers.

Well, current recommendation is still to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.  So while this is not technically a "restriction," I don't want to wear a mask during play, and I do want to follow the recommendation, so I won't return to meet-up play until that recommendation changes.  After it changes, I will be doing a mix of online and face-to-face, but for now, it's still all online.

If I'm misunderstanding your question, post a follow-up....that said:

Variable Limitations doesn't give you a way around normal Modifier rules:

If a Limitation should not or cannot be applied to an ability in its current state then it cannot be used to fulfill the Variable Limitations.  You can't apply Costs END to Activate to a Persistent ability, for example.

Likewise, Limitations which do not limit the character/ability are not worth any points/value. If the Limitation in question is otherwise rules-legal but does not limit the ability in any appreciable manner, then it would be worth -0 -- it could be applied as part of Variable Limitations, but won't apply to the total that must be met.

No, they cannot.  In general, Limitations selected to fulfill Variable Limitations cannot alter (or conflict with) existing/fixed Modifiers on the ability.

Another way to think about it (for your new players):  if applying Non-Persistent (-1/4) would cause Time Limit to change to an Advantage, then they are adding a net Advantage.  They would need to have Variable Advantage at a high enough level to account for the change in Time Limit from -1/4 to its Advantaged value in order to account for this. Lacking this, the points do not work out and Non-Persistent would not be a valid Limitation to apply.

Well, the moon is 385,000.6 km from earth, so at 334km/segment that's around 20 minutes of drift time, so your aim wouldn't have to be terrific.  The moon does have gravity to pull in a pretty close shot and is 3,475 across, which is hard to miss.

In the PDF I bought for Hero System Bestiary v6, on page 64 it lists the Centaur's "Total Cost: 1336175"
I am guessing this is incorrect?

A GM has no business "vengefully smacking" any PC just for the character type they choose. GMs are supposed to decide what PC types will be allowed in their games. Granted, D&D lays out clerics as one option, so players may feel they have a right to play them; and that game is more prescriptive in what they can do, so a GM may feel pressure to allow them to have abilities he/she doesn't like.

Fortunately, we here know of an alternative to D&D.   For Hero System clerics/priests may have whatever skills, spells, and other qualities are allowed for a given game group. That includes customizing options to make priests of particular religions and/or gods distinctive and filling different roles. In Hero Games' fantasy book lines, priests of differing faiths or whose patron gods have their own specializations, usually have their own categories of divine magic "spells" or other abilities, and/or practice specific skills.

That might also explain the giants' motivations (since, as @archer mentioned, they don't need human stuff in general, like orcs do). If the humans occupy the lands that the giants once held, then that means the ancient and sacred places of power for the giants, which might hold the keys to a return to dominance, are in human possession. Perhaps the giants have a leader who seeks to return them to prominence by retaking those places and reclaiming their lost secrets...
